Nice cottage in a good location - very handy the Lidl at the end of the road Cottage clean and tidy - was a little worried when we saw the hot water bottle each! Few small maintenance issues which we could see in the maintenance book had not been resolved adequately, and were still an issue Shame the cottage was so cold on arrival, however, did not take long to heat up - all radiators were set to zero. Would’ve liked a basic guide on the dishwasher/oven/boiler + heating - even if this was the owner’s words on how best to use these. Back bedroom the coldest and also the bathroom. Reviewed by Neil3.1★Oct 2023 "We had a wonderful week at the spotlessly clean cottage which had everything needed plus extras like torches in each room and umbrellas which luckily we didn’t need as the weather was hot and sunny every day." The beds with the feather pillows were very comfortable and we had the best nights sleep for ages, it’s so peaceful and quiet. The stairs are quite steep which was ok for us but might not be so good for very elderly or very young guests. We had a wonderful week in a lovely cottage in a great location. Reviewed by Douglas5.0★Sep 2023 "Fantastic cottage we had a really good time exploring Norfolk & the cottage was lovely to get back to & to relax in the evening, the lights on the step to the kitchen are a really good idea, & the torches hanging up in the bedrooms are great too." Our two cockers loved the garden & was ideal to walk them to the beach from there. A pub is nearly on the doorstep & was great for some real pub grub but best to book in first, there's some takeaway's not to far away either. Thank you owners of carrstone & Sykes' for letting us rent a fantastic cottage. We didn’t spend that much time in the cottage, sofa not that comfy tbh. But the cottage is indeed a great base. Definitely recommend. Reviewed by Angela4.7★Jul 2023 "An excellent cottage and a great location." Very dog friendly with a lot of things within walking distance or a short drive away. We had a lovely stay in Feb half-term. The fire made the cottage very cosy in the evenings! Reviewed by Oliver5.0★Feb 2023 "Carrstone Cottage provided the perfect characterful, cosy setting for our small family Christmas celebrations." The pretty cottage has been thoughtfully renovated to create wonderfully peaceful spaces and we really appreciated all the little details like torches hanging on every door, the wonderful welcome pack tailored to the season which included a large tin of quality street and bottle of mulled wine. The Christmas tree and other decorations were just lovely ! We loved having an open fire, and there was a generous amount of logs, kindling and fire lighters. Fantastic walks in the area of course, we enjoyed a leisurely Christmas Eve stroll along the beach from Heacham, amazing bird life to see and lovely sunset. Stunning iconic stripey cliffs at Hunstanton and we spent a few blissful hours exploring the rock pools and rock formations below, returning back into town over the cliff top via the cafe. At Norfolk Lavender virtually on the doorstep, there’s an excellent cafe, cavernous gift shop and separate farm shop selling a vast array of fresh local produce and deli items. Also local handy supermarket. Thank you for a wonderfully memorable stay, hope to return. I parked outside the house and was able to park there throughout the week after days out. The house was clean, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The owner had provided everything you needed for a relaxing week. Reviewed by Mary5.0★Oct 2022 "Although cozy & comfortable, the cottage needed a thorough clean." The toilet looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks until I had a go at it. Beds & towels were fine. Parking was just about ok after some tight parallel parking between the neighbours either side. A thoughtful welcome pack was nice with wine & milk but the cake was dry & stale so we had to throw it away. Reviewed by Sue3.1★Oct 2022 "Cottage was perfect for our minibreak - beds really comfy, linen lovely, and space ideal for the 3 of us (mum, 2 teens (adult size) and dog)." Welcome pack of wine. juice, milk and fruit cake made us all very happy! Garden was so pretty and such a bonus. Kitchen had everything we needed - one thing to feedback was that it would have been nice to have a couple more wine glasses, there was plenty of glassware but very few wineglasses specifically. We had no problems with parking on the road as mentioned in another review. Would definitely return! Reviewed by Sara5.0★Aug 2022 "What a lovely cottage!" Very welcoming feel, home from home and very clean. Just as advertised but what we weren’t expecting was the welcome pack which included a bottle of wine, thank you. The cottage is in a good spot with a pub at the end of the road, the beach about twenty minutes walk and a local Tesco and Lidl. Hunstanton and Sandringham are both only a short drive away. It is our second stay in Heacham and we love the area. It was a lovely week. Reviewed by Amanda5.0★Jul 2022 "A lovely warm and comfortable cottage." Would definitely recommend and hope to return. Reviewed by Jacqueline5.0★Apr 2022 "Brilliant cottage!" Very comfortable, great location and had everything we needed. Only downside was we didn’t sleep well as the pillows were rock hard. Also, neighbours appeared frustrated if we parked outside the cottage or near the cottage. Moving their car where we had parked as soon as we left meaning we had to park quite some distance away. Did not spoil our holiday though. Reviewed by Kelly4.7★Oct 2021 "Lovely cottage but not even a tea bag in the kitchen on arrival." A welcome pack of some kind would have been appreciated. The bedroom furniture needs upgrading, it's very tired and small for two people. Reviewed by Andrew3.4★Sep 2021 "I appreciate the impact COVID has had but there were none of the little touches that I would have expected of a cottage at this price range - for example, no welcome pack such as milk/wine/biscuits that have been left in other similar stays." The towels were “tired” and little things such as just 1 dishwasher tablet was provided, about half a cm of washing up liquid and hand soap and no dishcloth - I have come to expect that at the price we paid, these little touches would be included. The property itself was lovely - as described. However, the blind in one bedroom had broken and had to be tied up to keep open; the bathroom blind did not open properly and also had to be tied up; there was an electric hedge trimmer left on the garden bench and we had no access to the garage or anywhere else to store it safely from children. Very helpful and friendly housekeeper. Great long garden with very nice areas for sitting out and eating/drinking. Beds were very comfortable and the wifi worked perfectly. A great location for exploring this part of Norfolk and nice to be away from the crowds at Hunstanton. The walk to the beach with our dog was not too far and the ability to collect pre-ordered food from Sainsbury's at Hunstanton was great with the shop in the village and the co-op in Snettisham both being good for essentials and extras. The local RSPB reserves were great places to visit and Houghton Hall had the Anish Kapoor exhibition on which was great to see. We would love to return to Carrsone Cottage. The location was excellent for accessing Heacham beach and the various lovely beaches of the North Norfolk coast and other attractions. The cottage itself exceeded expectations: it was very comfortable and well-equipped and the garden was a real bonus with a dog and young grandchildren. The cottage had been cleaned scrupulously for our arrival and the owners and cleaner had obviously considered the details that make a holiday property feel like a home. The quality of furnishings, crockery, cutlery and bedding was impressive- not always the case in our self-catering experience.
