  • "The cottage is ideally situated in Heacham."

The cottage had some small niggles, things missing/not working which I'd informed sykes about. (Not had any response) but a lovely cottage , nice long garden if your taking your dogs.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the cottage in this lovely albeit very quiet area."

The cottage is well equipped, very clean and a beautiful enclosed garden, which worked for us as a family of four plus a larger dog. There are lots of beautiful walks, good dog friendly pubs.

  • "Lovely cottage but not even a tea bag in the kitchen on arrival."

A welcome pack of some kind would have been appreciated. The bedroom furniture needs upgrading, it's very tired and small for two people.

  • "I appreciate the impact COVID has had but there were none of the little touches that I would have expected of a cottage at this price range - for example, no welcome pack such as milk/wine/biscuits that have been left in other similar stays."

The towels were “tired” and little things such as just 1 dishwasher tablet was provided, about half a cm of washing up liquid and hand soap and no dishcloth - I have come to expect that at the price we paid, these little touches would be included. The property itself was lovely - as described. However, the blind in one bedroom had broken and had to be tied up to keep open; the bathroom blind did not open properly and also had to be tied up; there was an electric hedge trimmer left on the garden bench and we had no access to the garage or anywhere else to store it safely from children.

  • "Good village location."

The property was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The property was advertised as sleeps 6 but only 5 dining chairs and a very tatty footstool for person 6 in the living room, however as we were only 2 people plus dog this didn’t affect us.

  • "Lovely cottage, beautifully clean and with a surprising amount of useful utensils still left there despite the Covid secure measures."

Very helpful and friendly housekeeper. Great long garden with very nice areas for sitting out and eating/drinking. Beds were very comfortable and the wifi worked perfectly. A great location for exploring this part of Norfolk and nice to be away from the crowds at Hunstanton. The walk to the beach with our dog was not too far and the ability to collect pre-ordered food from Sainsbury's at Hunstanton was great with the shop in the village and the co-op in Snettisham both being good for essentials and extras. The local RSPB reserves were great places to visit and Houghton Hall had the Anish Kapoor exhibition on which was great to see. We would love to return to Carrsone Cottage.

  • "We had a super holiday at Carrstone Cottage."

The location was excellent for accessing Heacham beach and the various lovely beaches of the North Norfolk coast and other attractions. The cottage itself exceeded expectations: it was very comfortable and well-equipped and the garden was a real bonus with a dog and young grandchildren. The cottage had been cleaned scrupulously for our arrival and the owners and cleaner had obviously considered the details that make a holiday property feel like a home. The quality of furnishings, crockery, cutlery and bedding was impressive- not always the case in our self-catering experience.

  • "Lovely cottage but the parking was a nightmare and the sofa was so uncomfortable."

  • "Cottage was ideal for my week away with a friend."

It was welcoming and spacious. The beds were extremely comfortable with good quality bedlinen. The kitchen was well equipped so you could prepare and cook a meal or two. The garden was well stocked and very well maintained and relaxing to sit out. There is a pub within a few minutes walk that offers food too which saves on cooking. Parking is on the main road outside the house and we always managed to get parked.

Within walking distance is Caley Hall, home to Norfolk Lavender with its sweet smelling lavender fields, and Heacham Hall, owned by John Rolfe, who brought his young bride Pocahontas to England to live at the hall (in the local church of St Mary you will find a memorial to her). This part of Norfolk is renowned for its abundance of birdlife throughout the year, with several local RSPB sites, while within easy driving distance is Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens, as seen on BBC's Springwatch.
