  • "Immaculately clean and tastefully furnished property."

Very spacious (more than the photos suggest) and warm & cosy. Well thought through (e.g. plenty of sockets, and there was even a fruit bowl) and excellent, modern kitchen. We enjoyed spending time there, and there's a private patio area for good weather. The owners were friendly and available without being obstrusive. Great location for getting around North Norfolk.

  • "A lovely place for a quiet stay in the middle of the Norfolk countryside."

As is is fairly central it is convenient for the north coast, the Wash and west coast and Norwich. Charming towns such as Swaffham, Dereham and Holt are within easy reach. There is a lot of interesting place locally too. The hosts are very obliging and the accommodation is immaculately kept within its own woodland and with a private garden that catches the afternoon sun. We loved it!

  • "Squirrel's Drey very was clean and well-appointed It is situated in a very quiet country location and yet is relatively close to a major road with access to Swaffham and Dereham, which have sufficient amenities to pfovide for most needs."

The nearby villages are picturesque and there is easy access to a common where fallow and ponies roam free. The property itself is very convenient and comfortable. The kitchen in particular is of a very high standard and all utensils are of high quality. The lounge adjoins the kitchen and has a comfortable sofa and a charming wood-burning stove. It is noteworthy that the furniture throughout the property matches - a nice touch. The bed is very comfortable and a vibro-massage chair in the bedroom adds a feeling of luxury. There is a distinct 'vibe' about the place that is restful and relaxing. The small private garden is a little sun trap. A small oak woodland on the premises provides a place to walk and to sit. The hosts live in an adjacent property and are very helpful and welcoming. without being intrusive. My wife and myself needed a quiet, secluded place in the country for a break and that is exactly what Squirrel's Drey provides. We originally booked a week, but liked it so much we added and extra week.

Owners were near to hand and quickly resolved any problems. Cottage was cosy and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Lovely comfortable bed and sofas and enjoyed evenings by the wood burner. Recommend the George & Dragon at Newton for a great pub dinner by a warm fire!

The only thing I didn't like so much was the oven and hob - too modern, I don't like reading instructions to be able to operate what should be such a simple appliance!

Very quiet location. no garden but a private sun trap patio. Modern kitchen area with all utensils and facilities in good order. A little short of food preparation/worktop space Personally I would have liked a chair/recliner in the lounge area as an alternative to the settee, there is plenty of room. The bedroom is spacious, very comfortable bed and ample storage. Modern bathroom with excellent shower. All of the coastal attractions within less than an hours drive, plus several attractive towns to explore.

Due to the pandemic, I was fortunate to get the booking, as I had travelled from Romania in the hope of getting a vaccine. So, it was all done in a hurry, as I could not stay with friends or in a hotel. Squirrels Drey was fantastic in every way, and ideal to be isolated during the lockdown. The host, Terry and Marie, were helpful and aware of the situation. Everything was provided with style and attention to detail. In fact, I would love to live permanently in the accommodation as it is perfect, transporting it to Romania! Needless to say a month was a long time to stay, but I loved every day and 'felt at home' in spite of the lockdown. Anyone who books it will, like me, LOVE IT.

We felt that a DVD player should have been provided, we bought along DVDs to watch while relaxing on our holiday but found we had no way to play them. On the upside, we were very pleased and suprised to find we had access to Netflix on the TV. The cottage was perfect for a couple. We were wanting to have a relax away form everything happening in the world right now and this cottage provided a perfect escape for us. A really lovely quiet holiday. Thank you

  • "The cottage was really lovely and well appointed and had almost everything we could have wished for."

In reality the rating fell between Met and Exceeded Expectations. The reason for setting it lower is that we felt that the bathroom needed somewhere to hang all the lovely towels and a having a shelf to put toothbrushes and glasses on over/around the washbasin would make using it perfect. A DVD player downstairs would also be a bonus. Finally, we would suggest that the content and style of the guidance notices posted in various locations around the property should be reviewed to provide a more professional approach to imparting essential information. Unfortunately these lowered the tone of such a lovely property to stay in.

Well equipped kitchen with a proper size cooker, plenty of saucepans and baking sheets. A small but very efficient microwave. Plenty of crockery and cutlery, and a set of kitchen knives that are sharp! Excellent heating, with radiators throughout AND a woodburning stove in the lounge area, so lovely an cosy. Nice size bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. Large bedroom with a very comfortable bed and a special electric massaging relaxation chair. With all bedding and towels included, all you need to bring is your food and clothing. Excellent. TV and Wi-fi included, together with an excellent selection of leaflets and books introducing visitors to Norfolk and local places to eat and visit. Names, address and phone number of the local doctors, who welcomed us for a routine but necessary appointment. The cottage is next door to the owners' bungalow, but apart from greeting us when we arrived and wishing us a good journey home you would not know they were there. A very peaceful getaway. This holiday home is very well situated for exploring Norfolk, with Norwich, Kings Lynn, Swaffham, Fakenham and Dereham within easy reach. Also with lots of country houses to visit and of course the Norfolk coast. Make a booking - its well worth a visit.

There were also some lovely little touches - fresh flowers in the main room and dressing gowns provided. Although the cottage is in the grounds of the main house it felt very private but on the odd occasion when we did see the owners they were very friendly. The bedroom is wonderfully big - the bed super comfortable and you're able to lie in bed and look at the stars through the velux windows. We were only around 30 mins from the main bird reserves on the north coast - perfect for us, and we got to come back to a comfortable and cosy property at the end of the day. The location is quiet and rural but a number of attractions and the main retail area at Kings Lynn are all within easy travelling distance. We thought it was great value for the week and would certainly think about a return visit.

Everything looked the same as in the pictures, a well equipped cottage with everything you could possibly need. The standard of cleanliness was superb much to my relief....hence our holiday started happy and relaxed. There were very thoughtful touches by the owners..... bedside torches and a plate of welcoming home made cookies are just two. Also the vibrating massage chair in the bedroom is well worth a mention. If pushed, the only thing I would add would be a full length mirror perhaps....other than that just perfect.

of the premise, the convenience, the charm of backwoods Norfolk. Make sure to read the floral folder with the local info. ,you'll find your feet sooner. Unfortunately the catch up feature wasn't active on the tv, but the only changes I would make would be a dab radio in the bedroom (the last touch of luxury) and a framed OS map of the area on the wall downstairs for info. (It is a bit off the beaten track!) All in all, a very good and relaxing experience, and look forward to going again.

Easy access to many places of interest. The cottage itself was well laid out and ideal for us. Had plenty of room, and a little private patio. Nice decor, and a good king sized bed to stretch out on after a day out. In fact every thing one needs for an enjoyable stay. The owners were pleasant and approachable, and near at hand if there were any problems. In our case, things went smoothly. About the location

East Dereham 9 miles; Swaffham 9 miles; Fakenham 11 miles.

Litcham is a traditional, rural Norfolk village with one pub (The Bull Inn), a local butcher, a combined post office and convenience store, and a fish and chip shop. The beautiful village church, with its prominent square tower, dates back to the 12th century, though it was rebuilt to a great extent in the 15th. Litcham and the surrounding villages in the parish (particularly Beeston and Tittleshall) have a busy events calendar. Litcham Common, officially a Local Nature Reserve for over 20 years, is superb for nature lovers, bird-watchers and particularly walkers, as it sits on the Nar Valley Way, which runs all the way from East Dereham to King's Lynn. The three local towns of East Dereham, Swaffham and Fakenham are all about 10 miles away, providing access to a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants.
