Lovely setting, nice and quiet but not too far from amenities.

The views are a real selling point. Sunsets over the lake lovely, fabulous bird life, then the horses in the nearby field all magical. With countryside comes unwanted visitors… It is rural so after a heavy downpour we did experience a lot more flies in the conservatory and kitchen. There’s nothing that can really be done, but worth a mention if you really can’t stand insects. Overall it’s location is a very good base to explore the area.

Absolutely stunning scenery, location is top class with incredible views, we were very lucky with the weather during our stay meaning we were able to spend plenty of time outdoors in the garden which was perfect for us; enclosed (perfect for the dog) clean, and great for family.

Inside could do wjth some TLC, although it was generally clean and the beds immaculate some areas needed further attention. There were also a lot of flies, we took this onboard as we were out in the countryside with the lake close by and pig field opposite but we had to put fly traps out and regularly had to go “fly hunting”. Very thankful to the owners who provided a comfortable cot and high chair, and water bowls for the dog! Overall it was a great stay and would definitely recommend for families wanting a relaxing stay. Thanks

Absouletly breath taking views, very large garden.

Lots of wildlife spotted from the garden, Deer, rabbits, pheasant horses , lake birds and also a bird of prey. Very comfortable beds and cosy rooms. Lovely large kitchen. Beautiful spacious cosy conservatory. Loads of local places to walk with your pets forest and lake. Very peaceful. Owners very polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Home from a wonderful relaxing break at Horseshoe Cottage.

Stunning views and lovely little cottage. Comfortable beds, plenty of wood and coal provided and topped up at no extra cost. If you are looking for a peaceful break this is perfect!

What a beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful area.

The garden was magnificent and our two dogs loved the space. The benefit of a coal fire and wood burner was a treat. The kettle could have done with a descale - which I attempted and the washing machine rubber seal was a little grim, again I gave it a good wipe and removed some dirt. The scales battery died so I replaced that…little things which were soon rectified but maybe it’s the little things that should be checked. Most things you would need in a kitchen were provided, except some washing powder which I brought & left (dishwasher tablets were available but we didn’t use that) and we could have done with a whisk. Waitrose delivered our shop for the week to the cottage, which was useful as surprisingly there wasn’t a local shop nearby. We had a thoroughly enjoyable & relaxing time at Horseshoe Cottage & would consider returning.

This was our second visit to Horseshoe cottage and it was as lovely second time as it was the first time.

We are already looking at dates for next year to make it a third visit. The cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. It is autumn and unfortunately there were one or two ( even 7 or 8 ) massive spiders that made me run for my life

Wonderful location and beautiful views from the garden.

The cottage is lovely, we had everything we needed, and the beds were comfortable. Nice choice of places to sit in the garden, however we didn't find a garden parasol so it was sometimes too hot for my husband. The garden is fab, our 2 dogs loved it, lots of places to sniff and plenty of room to play fetch. Nice local walks from the property. A few personal preferences...we found that maybe there was too much furniture downstairs, we just managed to squeeze the dog bed by the fireplace in the lounge/dining area. The water pressure in the shower is weak but water was hot. I'd prefer bath sheets to towels. Overall we had a fabulous stay and would definitely come back.

Amazing Garden, we sat out there for hours.

Didn't turn a tv on all week !! The wildlife is great, the bird feeding station we brought started to get really popular and was attracting loads of little birds, we hope other guests enjoy it too and also get to see the Woodpeckers. The swans and cygnets loved the swan food we took and came up to the gate for their breakfast, dinner, tea, snacks..... haha. The fast jets over the house were an added bonus, like a private airshow. We would come back tomorrow if we could as we're all missing the peace and quiet. We didn't actually spend much time inside the house but it was cute and quaint with comfy beds. A fixed roof shelter would be amazing instead of the umbrella and give proper outdoor living. A downstairs toilet would be great to squeeze in. Maybe added on to the back of the porch or in the pantry ?? Loved our stay - Thank you x

Such a lovely cottage, in the middle of nowhere ( kinda) beautiful view on the lake, so peaceful, we had such a lovely time, the only thing is that sat nat took us to different place , just a bit like a 30 second a way, so not too worried, literally just couple of seconds away, we loved your cottage’ and be pleased to come back

we had a relaxing family holiday and would love to return in the future. We were lucky with the weather and spent most early evenings sitting in the garden enjoying the view and the sunshine.

It was the most lovely cottage I have stayed in very quiet and away from the madding crowds loved it.

There was everything you could have wanted in the cottage very much home from home very comfortable. Would definitely go and stay there again. Thank you to the owners.

Lovely cottage, so peaceful & amazing views.

The garden was fantastic & especially enjoyed by our boys & dog. We saw various birds, muntjac deer, bunnies, horses, geese, ducks and deer. Just wonderful. The cottage itself was cosy with comfortable sofas & beds and fluffy towels. Thank you for a lovely stay, we’ve already been planning a return visit!

Horseshoe cottage is a delightful place, in a quiet area with nature all around.

This is our second visit, and we are likely to go again in the coming years.

The property was very well presented, clean, maintained to a great standard and was a joy to stay there.

Garden was an ideal size for a dog and was surrounded by a fabulous view. Highly recommended for a quiet break.

Overall a very pleasant stay with a great garden for dogs.

Unlimited supply of logs for the wood burner which was in constant use due to the very cold temperatures during that week. Very comfy beds. The cooking pots need replacing as the teflon is badly damaged.

We loved our stay at Horseshoe cottage.

The cottage is very comfortable and nicely decorated, with a homely feel. The environment is beautiful and perfect for relaxing.

This Cottage is a wonderful find.

We have stayed in many nice properties through Sykes but this one hands down is the nicest . It is rural with no near neighbours which is perfect . The cleanliness of everywhere was lovely. It has a Lovely coal fire in the one room and a Beautiful log burner in the Kitchen / sitting room which is where we spent every night nice and toasty. It had everything you could possibly need while you are there. There is plenty of parking space so all in all was totally perfect for us. The heating is timed to come on and off which is good but the times weren’t really suitable for us but a quick message to the owner and it was all sorted. It was lovely to see the deers running about in the fields. It was wonderful to come home early afternoon and sit in the garden relaxing with the added bonus of the fast jets flying overhead. All in all it is a wonderful place to stay. We are already looking at dates to return next year. Thankyou to Sykes for having this lovely gem on your books. otherwise we would never have found it.

Maybe new memory foam mattresses.

The beds were comfortable but a little too soft. Everything else brilliant. Thank you for a lovely week xxx

What an perfect holiday setting.

Excellent cottage, with every thing you could ever need. One of the best equipped we have ever stayed in. The tranquil setting overlooking the lake with all of the amazing wildlife, can and did relax you the instant you arrive. The owners are so friendly and helpful, added to the whole holiday experience. An amazing place to stay and unwind. Our dogs loved the very secure garden and had great fun being taunted by the local squirrels. Highly recommend a stay at this property and we will definitely be booking again.

The cottage had everything we needed, we booked on the day of arrival and received a courtesy call before we had packed the car. We can’t wait to return next year

My friends/colleagues and I stayed for the bank holiday weekend for a wedding at the nearby Pentney Abbey.

The cottage was an absolute dream, it really was a home away from home. It was well-equipped, clean, spacious whilst in the most beautiful setting also. We are already talking about an annual weekend in our cosy cottage☺️

Very clean, comfortable and welcoming cottage in a beautiful setting.

Peaceful and tranquil with no near neighbours at all. So relaxing, a far cry from the hustle and bustle of city life. Great walks all around for those who don’t want to use the car, yet easy access to major attractions for exploring. Sadly our dog passed just a few weeks before hand, or she would have loved it. Fully enclosed large flat grassy garden to play in, a dogs paradise, especially with the abundance of walks from the door. We loved the many walks along the river Nar. The river is so clear and clean we saw people and dogs swimming in it

Beautiful cottage in a secluded location.

Lovely and clean. Fantastic outside space. My husband and I and the dog absolutely loved it. Would highly recommend a stay here if you would like to wake up to deers and rabbits, horses and birds, and most of all, peace, calm and serenity.

We loved Horseshoe cottage!

Absolutely superb garden. Ours boys loved playing in it. We had a gorgeous BBQ on the Saturday night. It is enclosed, we just needed to prop a table up by the back gate so our cocker spaniel couldn’t squeeze out. This wouldn’t be needed for a bigger dog. The house itself was charming. A downstairs loo would have been handy and what a shame you can’t swim in the lake! Apart from that it was the perfect stay. Oh and watch out for low hanging light fittings if you’re over 6 foot!

This rental property ticked all the right boxes for us.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful setting with excellent hosts.

We wanted for nothing and it was the perfect base for exploring. Our 3 dogs enjoyed the fully enclosed garden and we woke every day to the sight of swans on the lake and lots of other wildlife. We will most definitely return and I cannot recommend the cottage highly enough. Wonderful week xx

We had a lovely week at horseshoe cottage.

We would totally recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful setting surrounded by nature and outstanding views. Seeing muntjacs on a daily basis and buzzards flying very low overhead is amazing plus lots of other wildlife. The owners (Bob and Ang) do provide binoculars and a couple of bird books which is a perfect touch. The house had everything that you could possibly need and using the open fires really ends the day on a positive energy. The garden is huge and fully enclosed (even my escapee dog didn’t find a way out) the 3 dogs loved the garden and relaxed in the evening, totally exhausted after running about. We will definitely return in the future Thank you to Bob and Ang for letting us stay x

What a pretty old cottage!

So well thought out and set in lovely peaceful surroundings with lots of wildlife. We saw muntjac deer nearly everyday, it was a nice touch to have a good pair of binoculars and a bird book on hand. We liked that it was quiet and just a quick drive to the shops. The cottage was clean, comfy and had everything we needed. It was in a good location to explore Norfolk, equally good if you just wanted to stay put and relax. The owners were friendly and very helpful. The only slight niggle were the light shades in the kitchen and on the landing were too low for tall people, which was amusing to me when my son forgot but not so amusing for him!

It was a peaceful, relaxing stay.

The facilities were fine, internet access was perfect so we could use our NOW tv box with the TV. We saw deer in the field by the lake. Was only 20 mins away from Kings Lynn and supermarkets. Would definitely come back here.

.It was spacious had everything you needed and more..The scenery and surroundings were so peaceful and beautiful..The tree swing in the garden was a hit with our sons and the log burner and open fire made it so cosy..Our dog loved laying in front of it after chasing sticks in the huge garden..The bedding and towels smelled lovely the beds were comfortable..The owners are very friendly and helpful..The weather wasn't our friend as it rained most days but that didn't matter as we were quite happy to stay in and just enjoy the tranquillity and the peacefulness there..When it was dry my husband and sons enjoyed some fishing at Pentney lakes and we had some walks out and our youngest son enjoyed looking through the binoculars at the different birds squirrels horses and muntjac deer..We would definitely recommend Horseshoe Cottage..Thanks Bob and Ang for a relaxing quiet and cosy week x

Lovely cottage nicely presented and clean.

Comfortable and cosy; we enjoyed our winter evenings by the wood burner. Very nice touches with Christmas tree and decorations and welcome pack. We did a couple of local walks suggested in the folder left by owner. Also visited Holkham Beach, Wells-next-the-sea and the Sandringham Estate for walks. Together with our dog we enjoyed all our walks. Visited Burnham Market too and had a nice meal in The Dabbling Duck Pub at Great Massingham. As a suggestion, a hair dryer would be useful.

Absolutely lovely cottage, all amenities catered for , well presented, and loved our stay.

Horseshoe Cottage was really lovely, we enjoyed our stay very much, our two dogs enjoyed running around in the large garden it was totally enclosed so we had please of mind when letting them out.

The cottage had everything you could want, the evenings were chilly because of the time of year but we were lovely and cozy in front of the wood burner, the owners were really helpful nothing was to much trouble, we had a great stay will definitely go back again. We visited Sandringham estate where we had a lovely walk with our dogs around the Luminate lights walk but we could only go around in the afternoon they had some light shows we could see but would of loved to do the trail at night but dogs weren’t allowed during the evening, but never mind it didn’t spoil our stay, would recommend Horseshoe cottage it’s a lovely place. You can see the lake from the garden and lots of lovely wildlife.

Lovely comfy cottage, garden was beautiful for the dog.

Well equipped kitchen, nice non-stick pans but only had metal kitchen utensils so probably won't be non-stick for long, but it was nice to have good quality, sharp knives. It would have been nice to have a radio in the kitchen/dining area as we don't always watch TV, also a bedside clock as I don't tend to take my phone to bed with me. Visited Holt, Wells-next-the-sea and RAF Lakenheath, there is a lovely walk at Bilney woods and plenty of others around. We really enjoyed our stay. There was also a nice welcome basket with some goodies. Thank you for letting us stay.

Beautiful cottage with amazing views!

Garden was fantastic for kids & dogs. Generally everything was great! Linen smelled incredible & beds very comfy. Could do with a few more saucepans and maybe a better speed peeler but these are minor things! Will definitely be back.

Beautifully appointed cottage, comfortable, roomy, cosy, fabulous fenced garden for dogs and children, lovely views over the lake, peaceful yet minutes from delightful Norfolk towns and beaches.

We had a wonderful stay at Horseshoe Cottage.

Fantastic house.Very comfortable, clean and with everything we needed. Our dog Daisy absolutely loved the Large enclosed garden. We really enjoyed Sitting in the garden relaxing,watching all the wildlife. There were all sorts of Birds,small deer,on occasion and horses.With the backdrop of the lake it is extremely picturesque. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. We can highly recommend the Dog friendly Park side cafe just down the road for breakfast.

The house is beautiful, well equipped and comfortable with everything you need for your stay.

The garden is spectacular, with a wonderful outlook across the lake and surrounding fields, it's completely dog proof too. Although the house stands on its own, amenities are easily reached within a few minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.
