  • "Double bed extremely comfortable."

Two singles deemed uncomfortable. Due to lack of seal on toilet door you can hear each other using it anywhere in the property. Had to play music to drown it out. Wood burner and comfy couches were excellent. Filtered water tap was amazing. Salt, pepper and a bit of cooking oil would have been appreciated. Lovely setting. Lots of large spiders in the house! Overall happy, but maybe lacked a bit of TLC.

We felt things just looked a little tired. Also the email about check out and how to leave the property was not opened until we were on our way home. I think something in the property telling you how to leave it would be beneficial.

Pity that the wrong instructions for accessing the property were provided and we couldn't get an immediate reply from the mobiles provided when the wrong key code was given - a bit poor that we couldn't get it straight away after a 7 hour drive. Sykes number is nowhere to be found - only got it on an account password reset email! Sykes seemed to blame the owners rather than taking any sort of responsibility.

The location has got to be the most peaceful and quite location I have stayed, great place to relax, great to see and hear the wildlife (Ospreys, Bats, Owls a more). The same problems and complaints were still there in May 23!!! Broken shelf in the fridge so you can’t put milk in, Broken light in the bathroom, sharp door latches, paint flaking from the walls, fire pit full of water! Totally unusable! Nowhere to put your drinks in the lounge when you’re seated apart from the floor. All reported in Jan 22 and nothing been done.Beautiful place but totally neglected due to greed I feel.

Hi Tim, We always appreciate honest feedback and will rectify the points you have raised. We encourage our guests to get in contact with Menai/ Sykes or ourselves directly during their stay in order that, if identified early, issues are rectified as soon as possible to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. You reported these issues after you had departed from the property, in spite of having our personal telephone numbers to report issues should you wish to do so during your stay. You did not report any issues in January 2022 either to us or to Menai. On receiving your feedback, we have reached out through Menai to ask that you elaborate further on the issues you have identified, however you have chosen to not respond. Aside from your public comments, health and safety issues such as informing us after your departure that you got a splinter from the banister are vital that we get to the bottom of, to ensure you are kept safe and able to enjoy your stay to its full. With regards to the private communication on the number of dogs that were left inside the cottage whilst you were out, Menai have admitted fault on not passing correct information (your original booking information stated that you had no dogs staying). However, according to Menai your payment for the dogs staying is still outstanding. It is a shame to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. As requested by email, please feel free to get in touch to discuss further the issues that you had. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful location, perfect for exploring Snowdonia National Park & the Llyn Peninsula - what a stunning area!"

The cottage itself is peaceful, with great outdoor space, and we spent a fantastic week there. It would however be remiss not to mention that there are a several things that need attention / replacing in the cottage: - Broken Velux window blind in twin bedroom (unsuccessfully being held down with black tape) - Broken light fitting/razor point in bathroom - Shower thermostat tap needs replacing (cannot control temperature) - Fridge needs replacing. One shelf missing & drips water all over food - Outdoor furniture needs replacing. Two of the four chairs are broken / falling apart. Such a shame because the outdoor space with BBQ/fire pit is fantastic. This property is no doubt a victim of its own success, as it is always booked up, however if the owner could block out some time to rectify these issues it would definitely offer a better experience for future visitors. All that said, we would highly recommend this property (with the issues sorted above) & would definitely consider staying there again ourselves.

Hi Karen, Thanks for your feedback, we are sorry that you had an experience of the broken elements within the cottage. The new Velux blind unfortunately was broken recently so is on order, along with a new fridge - we have been waiting for delivery in order to replace these on a handover day. As for the shower/ razor point/ outdoor furniture these must have been recent faults as they have not been reported to us previously so we are very grateful for you raising this with us and we fixed these immediately on receipt of your review. All the best, Alex Property Owner

  • "Your General Feedback Would you like to provide feedback about the holiday property?"

This will be shared with the property owner. We loved the area and the cottage was comfortable but we thought it needed updating. The kitchen tap was loose and the light and shaver socket over the mirror in the bathroom was coming away from the wall and didn't work. This was probably because the cover wasn't on it. This could of been a problem for us as there was knowhere to plug in an electric tooth brush charger. Fortunately we brought an an adapter with us. These were only small things and they didn't spoil our holiday but we felt they should of been sorted before changeover. Another thing that would of been useful is a list of emergency phone numbers for doctors, vets etc and the password for the WiFi writen down so we wouldn't have to search for it on the back of the router.

It was great to be back. Quiet and peaceful, with beautiful views yet close to good local amenities. The weather was not as kind to us this time but that did not affect our enjoyment - we just spent more time relaxing in front of the log burner on the really rainy days! Great to see the progress on the eco barn next door as well - very impressed with the thought and care that has gone into every inch of the work there. Thanks again to you both for a lovely stay.

It is easily accessible with good roads in, lots of parking yet it manages to feel completely off the beaten track. A nice quiet surrounding with none of the sounds we live with daily-neighbours, city sounds. Nice views from the cottage and a patio area to relax in. Accommodation was clean and comfortable but if I were to be picky it would have been nice to have a welcome pack about the property with WIFI code written down! Only one door could be unlocked but that’s not especially important! But don’t know what the second key was for! On the booking it mentions laundry and towels provided but there were no towels! Not an issue at all as we appreciate that these are very different times and we brought our own, but just needs to amend the website! All in all a great time was had and we would not Hesitate to recommend the property. Tom

At 8:18 on our 1st morning he came calling, his hand on the door handle ready to step in. Fair enough he came to tell us that the extractor fan wasn’t working but surely this could have been written in a note. I was in my PJ’s making chit chat - no thanks I’m on hols. I felt I was being watched the whole time. On check out at 9:40 he arrives again with mop & bucket in hand, at 10.05 barges in so please be prompt with check out time. Unfortunately I got the times mixed with a previous cottage who’s check out time was 11am, :( The crockery was filthy had to be rewashed before use, upstairs was cheaply finished and let the place down. Take plenty of loo roll, only one supplied, cheap brand at that. For such a beautiful renovated cottage the finishing touches let it down, why has everyone got to shop at IKEA. The location however was top marks for us

The cottage is dwarfed by the magnificent surroundings. Certainly much larger inside than it appears outside. Very well equipped and comfortable. Some lovely craftsman furniture. Very quiet country location apart from the occasional toot of a steam train chuffing across the vista. We even spotted an Osprey hunting in the paddock. Just one warning, the bathroom is downstairs and the stairs are quite steep if you don't have 100% mobility. There is so much to see and do in North Wales I'm sure we'll be back soon.

About the location

BEDDGELERT

Porthmadog 7.7 miles; Caernarfon 12.8 miles.

The picturesque village of Beddgelert lies in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park at the foot of Mount Snowdon. Beddgelert is a bustling village with arts and craft shops, tea rooms, welcoming pubs, including Saracens Head and the Royal Goat, and restaurants, centred around the Afon Glaslyn river. A leisurely stroll along the river will take you to the Aberglaslyn Pass, one of North Wales’s most famous beauty spots. The Welsh Highland Steam Railway passes through the village on its journey from Porthmadog to Caernarfon.
