Description
Bontnewydd 2.6 miles.
Mallards Rest Annex is a welcoming two story annex resting in Llandwrog near Bontnewydd, a scenic corner of Gwynedd.
Suited to two couples or friends seeking a thoughtfully presented base near Eryri National Park, boasting a garden, tasteful interiors, and en suite bedrooms, providing a pleasant setting for time spent exploring the surrounding landscapes.
When you arrive at Mallards Rest, you can park the car in the courtyard before taking in the gentle character of the front garden that frames the cottage.
Stepping inside, you enter a large hallway that sets a welcoming first impression, with space to pause before drifting into the sitting room.
Here, deep green hues wrap the room in warmth while the windows look out over the garden, creating a pleasing connection with the outdoors.
You can settle into the sofa or chairs as the electric fire casts a soft glow and the Smart TV provides relaxed entertainment.
The décor throughout has been finished to a lovely high standard, giving the home a polished yet inviting feel.
From the sitting room, the flow leads naturally back through the hallway and into the kitchen where you can set out ingredients on the worktops, prepare breakfast on the induction hob, or use the air fryer for quick lunches.
The kettle and toaster add simple ease to the morning routine, and the fridge freezer keeps everything close at hand for relaxed evenings indoors.
Climbing the carpeted stairs brings you to a bright landing that guides you into two spacious double bedrooms, each curated with thoughtful touches.
Both bedrooms feature wooden flooring and elegant feature fireplaces that add character without overwhelming the calm atmosphere.
In the first bedroom, you can run a bath in the en suite before settling in for a restful night.
The second bedroom offers its own en suite with a walk-in shower, allowing each guest to start and end the day with privacy and comfort.
Once refreshed, you might step back outside to enjoy the garden at the front of the cottage, a pleasant place for morning tea or to plan the day’s adventures.
The pub can be reached on foot and the shop is a short journey away, keeping essentials conveniently close.
When you head out to explore, Eryri National Park lies within an easy drive, offering sweeping valleys, serene lakes and panoramic viewpoints where you can pause to admire the dramatic landscapes that draw visitors from far and wide.
Caernarfon can be reached within a comfortable amount of time and rewards you with its remarkable castle, atmospheric streets and lively waterfront where you can stroll beside the harbour as local life unfolds around you.
Llanberis lies further inland, a place where heritage railways trace the slopes of towering peaks, where lakeside paths lead to striking viewpoints, and where the spirit of adventure shapes the day.
At the end of each outing, return to Mallards Rest, a well presented and welcoming cottage that supports relaxed days, restful evenings and memorable journeys across this beautiful part of Gwynedd.

What guests are saying
We very much enjoyed our stay at Mallards rest annex.
The accommodation was warm, comfortable, and had everything needed for a great stay. The beds especially were extremely comfortable. Having 2 ensuite bathrooms was a big plus for us. The location is rural and peaceful but within easy reach of Caernarfon, Anglesey, Snowdon, and a lovely little beach just a short drive away.
Mallards Rest was perfect!
Martin and Andrea with their little friendly dog Buddy we're perfect hosts making our stay feel welcoming, friendly and safe. The property was easy to enter and had plenty of parking. The property was gorgeous with wonderful views across their large gardens all around the property, just stunning. The property was beautifully clean, everything you could ask for, even had Netflix. We were given a lovely welcoming card with their chickens eggs for breakfast, a pint of milk and freshly baked fruit cake and welsh cakes, which were yummy, thank you. We were offered more eggs as and when required. The property is in a perfect location to visit Mount Snowdon, the stunning views across Snowdonia, Anglesey, Port Merian, Betws-y-Coed and Beddgelert and that's just a few beautiful villages near by. A 5 minute drive gets you to a pebble beach with pay and display parking or free parking if you drive to the end of the road. Ty'n Llan was a pub 3 minute drive from Mallards rest which we loved as the food was delicious with their fabulous cook and really friendly staff. I fully recommend Mallards Rest. Gates can be closed around the garden for children to run around safely. It definitely made our stay comfortable a real home from home. Thank you Martin and Andrea x
The property was beautiful and exactly as advertised.
It was comfortable, clean, and the owners kindly left us fresh eggs, fruit bread, and milk along with a nice note. The little Morrison's just up the road had all the provisions we needed for our 3-night stay. Getting to Snowdon was easy as well as day trips to Caernarfon and Betws-y-Coed. The directions in the email from Sykes were not great, but we called Martin, the owner, and he described how to get there easily.
