  • "Subject: Re: Use this version Sent: 17 May 2026 20:25:44 BST We have just returned from a Sykes Cottage and spend two nights at Greenfield, Retail Farm Estate, Four Mile Bridge, Holyhead LL652EJ Booking reference."

FE7WY-26-SA. Property reference 1158080 The cottage was booked based on the information provided on your website and reviews given, however we found a very different picture over the time we spent there. We experienced several issues with the accommodation the majority of which were based on the overall cleanliness of the property and the facilities offered especially in the kitchen area. On arriving the place smelt rather musty so we immediately opened windows to air the property. I found my daughter in the kitchen cleaning the fridge after finding food stains and residue inside and it was obvious it needed a clean as did all the surface areas. We also found there were coffee stains and crumbs on the worktops so it was necessary to wipe those down too. The colour of the cloth on completion was brown. The owner or possibly his representative knocked the door early evening on Friday and asked did we have everything we needed. My daughter answered and said yes as we were prepared at that time to let these things go that was before we discovered that there were other issues. Luckily my wife had packed household supplies such as washing up liquid, dish washer tabs, anti-bacterial spray, wipes and hand soap, etc. We discovered that ALL household items provided namely hand soap, fairly liquid, surface sprays and hand sanitiser around the kitchen and bathroom had been watered down to the extent that some were just water. See attached photos of these items. Also, the sugar was supplied in a container that was just a sticky lump and the salt and pepper containers supplied, were empty. Now I don't know if the owner is obliged to supply these but it would have given a better impression if he had not bothered at all. Glasses and cups were all a mismatch which gave the impression "oh these will do for the rental." All drinking glasses, mugs and cutlery had to be washed with hot soapy water before use as it was evident that this had not been done. Also note that the lower part of the internal patio doors were extremely filthy and in need again of a clean. This, along with the lack of cleaning throughout the home, showed the level of hygiene standards to be extremely poor and begged other questions about the germs we couldn’t see. Later that evening we planned a family meal and discovered the pans supplied had a grease/sticky coating and where dirty with the frying pan having no or half of the teflon coating missing which made it unusable. We had to wash all the pans and plates as everything seemed to have a sticky coating and needed a hot soapy wash. We were only there for two nights, a relatively short time, 40 hours to be precise, so time was taken away from our family holiday to do jobs we were meant to be having a break from at home. One of the reasons we chose this Cottage was because it was dog friendly. However, the garden was quite unkempt and the grass was rather long. It was dotted with dog muck (and what we found we picked and bagged). The grass should be at least maintained and free from visitors dog muck. It should have been checked prior to our arrival. The advert states that the garden was secure but that is not the case at all. We could not let the dogs out of back door without their leads on at any time, as it was a risk to their safety. The bathroom was okay but had two minor issues one being a loose toilet seat and the other being a shower head that would not stay up as the clip broke my son-in-law, an engineer indicated that the clip holding the shower head whilst the wrong way around and the shower mixer had been installed upside down which was not ideal. There was a general lack of attention to cleanliness. One of the drawers had a f

clean bedding. Comfy lounge and lovely kitchen nice approach to bungalow and gardens. Plenty of room for parking. The outside doors were lit up all night. Which made it more secure. The owner called to see us a lovely gentleman. We enjoyed our stay it was just a shame the weather was so windy we didn’t see rain through the day just at night. Would recommend Greenfield we had a very pleasant stay.

We loved, loved. Loved the bungalow. So dog friendly for both our blind elderly schnauzer and boisterous french bulldog. The views are to die for. Location is perfect to get out and about to the various beautiful beaches. Local amenities in every direction. The bungalow is extremely spacious. The windows are large and floods it with light. This is a real gem. We will deffo be booking again and have already made recommendations to friends and family. John paid us a visit to ensure all was well and of course it was, it was perfect. We had terrific relaxed holiday. Thank you.

  • "A very enjoyable holiday at Greenfield - thank you for organising decent weather too."

The bungalow is in a fabulous location a mile or so from the sea front at Trearddur Bay. Lovely views from the lounge and kitchen and the cows from the farm opposite were very visible and audible ! All in all a great place to retreat to after day trips to Rhosneigr, Beaumaris,Moelfre and Benllech. Our Shih Tzu, Fergus loved pottering around on the various levels in the garden too. We would definitely stay here again. The Sea Shanty in Trearddur Bay recommended for excellent food and drinks. David, Anne-Marie and Fergus.

  • "Lovely bungalow in a great setting."

Perfect for both Trearddur Bay beach and Rhoscolyn beach. Plenty of space inside the cottage for a group (though it would be a squeeze if there was 7 of you to get around the kitchen table for meals). We were beyond blessed with beautiful weather at the end of April so enjoyed the front and back outside sitting spaces.

  • "Our host, John, was absolutely fantastic."

Anytime we needed a little help, he was there or answering our questions within five minutes. He was always available and incredibly helpful. Even though we booked last minute, John made sure everything was ready for a perfect stay before we arrived. The bungalow was clean, warm, cosy, and exactly as described on the website and in the photos. The location was ideal, peaceful, yet close enough to both Rhoscolyn and Trearddur Bay beaches. The kitchen was lovely and fully equipped, and we enjoyed spending quality family time unwinding in the comfy, spacious living room. We can’t recommend this holiday home enough and are already looking forward to returning!

It's a lovely 3- bed bungalow, that is walking distance to Trearddur Bay or a quick drive to The White Eagle and Rhoscolyn Bay. John is a wonderful host and lives nearby if there are any issues. We will be visiting again soon.

  • "Greenfields is a lovely three-bed bungalow within walking distance of Trearddur Bay."

There is a large lounge area and large, well equipped kitchen. The only thing it lacks is a drier. We had a baby with us and because of the weather (Storm Amy), we struggled to dry laundry. Overall, this is a great place for a perfect break.

It is set in such a beautiful location and honestly, the description doesn't do it justice. All of the rooms are spacious, comfortable and offer a real sense of home with all the amenities you could wish for. We took full advantage of the close proximity to the beach with morning walks down to the bay and enjoyed many relaxing evenings in the enclosed garden, which offered a beautiful vantage to watch the sunset. The garden was perfect for our two large dogs, it offered security but also lots of room to explore and investigate different areas. Overall we had an incredible stay, so much so we are already looking at going back. Thank you!
