  • "Our second stay at this wonderful property."

    We stayed for 10 nights over Christmas. Everything was perfect, very comfortable and the location is spot on for us. No issues at all. We've booked to stay a few times in 2026. That says a lot. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "We arrived in the midst of storm Claudia."

    The bedroom terrace furniture cushions and cover were about to blow away,so we had to secure them. Couldn’t bring them inside because they were wet and there was nowhere to put them. There were a couple of leaks seeping through the ceiling from the dining room flat roof and in the corner of the ceiling above the bunk beds. However,we accept that it was EXTREME weather. We just want to draw attention to it. We are avid recyclers,and felt the instructions were inadequate. This is the first property that we have stayed at without a welcome pack. Had to request extra towels (not enough for 8 people). Some of the carpets were in need of cleaning,and we encountered dust and cobwebs in corners,on cupboards and walls. HOWEVER, none of the above detracts from the fact that we had a wonderful week. It is a lovely property, well equipped with everything required for cooking etc. The area is lovely with amazing views.

Thanks for reporting the water ingress. You’re quite right that in extreme weather we can see a bit of damp coming in. I’ve not seen anything for a couple of years but I know the storm you encountered was quite wild! We’re doing some refurb work in January, which will include replacing the carpets you mentioned.   • "Cracking property with a vista to match."

  • "This is the house I want to live in."

    It’s well situated, within walking distance to Porthmadog which has all the amenities you need and to the beach. The house is well equipped and the view from the deck is beautiful.

  • "Had a really lovely week’s holiday."

    Loved the harbour room, to sit and look at the beautiful view. Perfect for our old Cocker spaniel too, we genuinely did not want to leave. So lucky with the weather, and spent every day sitting out on the lovely decking area, just enjoying the view. Comfortable beds, nice to have a big bath sheet towel! Everything you could need was provided. Such a pretty and peaceful place , with places to explore. Would definitely stay again!

  • "We had a wonderful week’s stay at Alltwen in Borth y Gest – a perfect base for a family getaway."

    The house was really well-equipped with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and having three bathrooms was a real bonus for a group of seven. While the living room was a little cosy for all of us at once, it still felt warm and welcoming. What really made our stay special were the stunning views from the garden and balcony – a peaceful spot to enjoy a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. We loved exploring the local area too, with highlights including Criccieth, Pwllheli, and a delicious Sunday carvery at the Bryn Arms in Gellilydan. One of our favourite days was a lovely walk along the beach to the Ty Coch Inn, followed by lots of fun in the beautiful coves of Borth y Gest. A truly memorable family holiday – we’d love to return!

  • "We had a absolutely fantastic stay in this wonderful house."

    We love BYG and have stayed many times over the years. This was the most relaxing week there to date. The weather was amazing and we made very good use of outdoor terrace and decking with amazing views. Every meal was eaten outside and lots of wine consumed watching the world go by on the harbour. Overall the house is very comfortable, clean and has everything you could possibly need. The showers are fabulous. Everything worked fine, with detailed instructions available. We used the back gate to go on dog walks so we didn't have to worry about going though the house when we got back. Minutes away from the harbour and Pen y Banc beaches and coves. I couldn't have wanted anything more. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • "We had a lovely time at this beautiful house with stunning views ."

    The only real issue we had was on leaving was that we were told we had until 11 to leave the house , the cleaners turned up at 10. We explained, they left and came back only half an hour later. We felt very rushed and as a consequence have left 3 items that we really need returning please .

  • "Lovely house, everything we needed for a great holiday."

    The accommodation is almost tardis like. Obviously a great deal of thought has been given in planning a home that meets the needs of most holiday makers. Will be back.

  • "Fantastic property in a very quiet residential street with incredible views from the rear of the house."

    Very well equipped kitchen and a large walk in shower room on ground floor with really good water pressure. Lounge area, although small, has a really comfortable sofa for relaxing after dinner Terrace and garden area would be amazing in summer but served as a safe enclosed space for our dog during the evening when he needed a loo break. Ability to charge our EV vehicle was a bonus without the faff of finding a public charger and parking although on street was super easy Walks direct from the property to both Portmadog and Criccieth along the coast path are easy accessed after about 2 minutes walk from the property and Watkins Path parking for Snowdon is an easy 20 minute car journey from property. We loved out time at Alltwen and this will be on our list of ideal properties when we return to Snowdonia next year

  • "Property was well maintained and laid out."

    It provided everything you would need right down to games, DVDs, ect. There was even an outhouse with badminton set, buckets and spades. kitchen was well equipped. I went with my sister and brother in law and my dog for my 70th birthday, my other sister and brother in law sadly couldn't make it due to health issues. We had a lovely weekend and bistro on the front was very welcoming and only a short walk away. Sorry but we missed the recycling as we were not told to put bins out. Thank you for a lovely stay

    We had a good time the views from the decking were amazing the house was very well presented.It had everything you would need to have a great time on holiday just the weather was a bit iffy but it didn't stop us from enjoying your cottage .

BORTH-Y-GEST

Porthmadog 1.2 miles; Criccieth 6 miles.

Borth-y-Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth-y-Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway?
