  • "We loved this little cottage and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others."

We stayed during the last week of October 2023. The weather wasn't the best but we did what you do in Wales and donned our waterproof gear so we had a brilliant week! The cottage is situated in Old Colwyn, uphill from the main road and the hustle and bustle. There is a private parking space at the back for one car and entrance is really via the conservatory, which is where the key safe is, so nice and private and away from the main road (which is extremely quiet!). There is a CoOp and a Lidl somewhere in Old Colwyn, and there is a Morrisons in Colwyn Bay (a 5 minute drive along Abergele Rd) but we bought what we needed each day when we were out and about. There is a restaurant/pub a stone's throw across the road from the cottage called The White Lion. It seems very popular and has good reviews. We didn't have time to go as we were out every day but we wished we had. It's closed on Mondays (just to bear in mind). The owners live in the adjoining cottage. Jane came to introduce herself to us at around teatime in the first day and she was so lovely and welcoming. In arrival, there was a pint of milk in the fridge which we really appreciated so we could just have a cup of tea before heading back out to buy some food to eat that night. In fact, we headed to Colwyn Bay to go to a chip shop that I knew and have used before over the years (I wouldn't recommend Old Colwyn at all by the way). The cottage itself was just wonderful. It was very cold on a couple of the days but the owners had the radiators set to come on so the main part of the building was warm. The kitchen is well fitted and modern with extremely good quality equipment. This is mainly what I noticed and appreciated - in every room, everything is good quality. You know that the owners didn't just buy a holiday cottage and fill it with car boot sea themed tat as you do find in some cottages (and we've stayed in a LOT). Bedding, duvets, plates - just everything felt carefully chosen, even the selection of DVDs. We all really appreciated everything there. There were even a pair of hair straighteners in the double bedroom .. If I had to think if something that the cottage needed, I would only suggest a door wedge/stop to keep the bathroom door open and some tupperware for the kitchen to fridge up your leftovers. I wish the cottage could be replicated in the other areas we like to stay in (we stay in North Wales at least three times a year). A perfect holiday cottage! I would love to return

What a truly outstanding, complimentary review. We are genuinely thrilled to receive such gorgeous words. The level of detail will be so helpful for future guests. • "We had a wonderful two weeks at the Old Post Office in Llanelian (Old Colwyn)."

Jane was a wonderful host and kept in contact with us throughout our stay. The weather was mixed (as it often is in Wales) but the cottage was very comfy and homely especially during those days you didn't fancy venturing out. The cottage had everything provided that you should ever need. The bedrooms and bathrooms are compact accessed by a very narrow staircase but this is an 1820s cottage so this is to be expected. The cottage is a great base for different areas/activities - Liverpool is only just over an hour away, Snowdonia less than an hour and Anglesey is about 40 mins, 30 mins to the beaches of Rhyl and Prestatyn. Llandudno is also worth a visit at about 20 mins (a ride up the Great Orme in the tram is definitely worth doing). Old Colwyn (5 mins), Colwyn Bay (10 mins) etc all have wonderfully sandy beaches and parking is never an issue. Loads of castles around the area as well. All in all a great place to spend your holiday.

Wow, what wonderful feedback from wonderful people. So lovely you joined in with village life with the church and the local show. Thank you very much, we appreciate the time and effort you have taken to write such a positive, detailed review. We are really glad you enjoyed our cottage and it means a lot that everything went so well. Your review is invaluable to other people who have booked to come or are thinking of booking. Thank you once again, hope to see you soon, Jane and Jonathan. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful little cottage with everything you need for a restful, comfortable stay."

Host rang before we travelled to check our arrival details and discuss our stay so that we could ask any questions and was on hand for our arrival, with information and maps of the area with recommendations for places to go during our stay. There were also lots of information leaflets to browse through. It has a well equipped kitchen and option for eating out on the terrace or in the sunny dining room at the rear of the property. Parking for two cars is available. Beds were clean and very comfortable. We took our dog, and although there is no garden there is a large field to run the dogs in just round the corner. There is a pub opposite the property but it was being refurbished while we were there I think, so not open a lot. You will need a car to get to town which is only five mins or so away. We had a fab relaxing stay in this quaint little place. Thank you.

Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to provide such gorgeous, positive feedback. We are thrilled you had such a lovely time and it's so rewarding to know people and friends have enjoyed staying in our home. It's so nice to be appreciated and you are welcome to come back anytime and enjoy the Post office again. Many thanks again Jane and Jonathan Property Owner

  • "Just returned from a lovely week in The Old Post office."

Was greeted by the delightful owner Jane on arrival, who was then on hand if required during our stay. Cottage located in a quiet village just outside Old Colwyn. Perfect location for visiting N Wales many attractions and minutes from the A55. The cottage is a very old character building with a lovely fitted kitchen, and a roomy and airy conservatory ideal for eating in or relaxing with a good book. Upstairs the bedrooms were fine as was the bathroom. We took our dog Millie and were pleased to find a field by the Village Hall ideal for an early morning run before our days out. Would highly recommend and we would certainly return.

Many thanks for taking the time to provide such lovely feedback. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. We are glad you appreciated the quaintness of the cottage and enjoyed the surrounding area. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Jane and Jonathan Property Owner
