Bwthyn Y Bae

This was the 3rd time of staying at Bwthyn Y Bae, Church bay.

This year was probably the best ever as we were blessed with wonderful weather. Spent time on the local beach and enjoyed the food at the local cafe. The bungalow is comfortable and had all the amenities necessary to have a good holiday. Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels. Milk, biscuits and wine were a nice surprise. Great place to be. Thank you

The bungalow was very well appointed and well equipped, with a full welcome pack!

A large sun umbrella would be a nice addition as the garden area is at the front of the property in full sun with no shade. The small rear area is shaded but faces a seafood processing plant which isn't the best outlook. Fortunately, I'm a bit of a smart arse and went prepared with my own umbrella with a lawn spike.

An amazing cottage.

Beautiful furnished in ideal location. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with good outlooks from ever room. We enjoyed sitting out at the front in the pleasant gardens which surround the property. It really made the holiday having such a nice base to come back to. The only slight drawback was the tv reception relying totally on the internet.

This is a very comfortable place to stay.

The kitchen is well equiped and the sitting room spacious. The garden area has seats although it is adjacent to a food processing plant and there is some noise. The walking opportunities on the clifftop footpath are exceptional. Church Bay itself is less than 5 minutes walk and is an attractive beach and bay, probably busy in the summer though.

So clean, beautifully presented and extremely comfortable.

The bungalow had everything we needed and immediately felt like home. Good to see visitor comments were noted and acted upon ie hosepipe to wash off sand and pizza cutter. All considered it is the best cottage in which we have stayed. We are hoping to return. Many thanks for our stay. Jane

Great spacious bungalow in lovely location.

Proximity to the small bay/ beach and coastal foot path were perfect for us and the dogs. Enjoyed the food at the Wavecrest cafe and the views at the Church Inn pub up the road with its cute hobbit holes. Liked the seating outside for the BBQ days. Not sure what the set up with the TV channels was, but could only get BBC on the mainstream channels. The mattress was a little hard in the bedroom with the en-suite, but other than that we were very happy with our stay here and would love to come back.

The bungalow was lovely and only 500yds from the beach and coastal path.

The garden was safe and enclosed ideal for my dog. The Wavecrest Cafe only 409yds away served fantastic scones and a dressed crab salad but is only open 4 days a week. The bungalow appears to be part if the Lobster Pot a rather expensive restaurant which is also open only 5 days. We would definitely return hopefully next year.

We had a fantastic week.

The cottage was lovely with everything we could have needed. My mum of 92 is disabled and she managed well in the bungalow The situation of the bungalow is great. You could bring shopping in and never move from the lovely gardens and surrounds but we toured the island every day as there is so much to see. The coastal path is nearby and the walk on it was amazing. Beautiful spring flowers and secluded empty little bays. Walks on the beach in church bay and lovely sunsets in spitting distance!!! The cafe down the road made wonderful scones and the lobster pot restaurant nearby made lovely food. The welcome pack on arrival was greatly appreciated A beautiful part of the world and we will be returning

We returned for a second year after such an enjoyable stay last year.

It was not a disappointment! The cottage is ideal in every way, having everything the four of us plus our two dogs needed. The beds are really comfortable and the cottage was well equipped spacious and spotlessly clean. It’s good to know the garden certainly is dog proof. We spent most of our time in the garden or going for walks down to the beach or along the local paths. The location is stunning and the Wavecrest cafe, 5 mins walk by the beach, is an ideal place to visit for delightful food. The scones really do match the photos on the website! Lots to do on the island, very scenic. Hopefully we will return next year.

A lovely, well equipped, bungalow ideally situated within a short walk of Porth Swtan beach.

A dimmer switch to operate the light above dining table.

Thicker curtains across the patio windows. Clearer instructions on how to operate cooker hob. There was no reference to the small industrial estate at the rear of the property which was overlooked from kitchen window. We enjoyed our stay thank you.

Great location within walking distance to beach, coastal path and super restaurant nearby.

Cottage spacious, spotless and well equipped. Enclosed large garden which was well kept and lots of seating. Nearby cafe closed for the winter and local pub reduced opening times so if you’re going out of season be prepared to travel. Would highly recommend.

This a lovely cottage in a beautiful location, well worth a visit

When we arrived we could not access the key safe.

Although we phoned the no. given and texted the no. we did not receive a response. A kind man in another property helped us out! However, we liked our stay so much we have rebooked for 2025!!

This was our third time and we loved the improvements to the kitchen and bathroom.

6 adults sharing worked fine. The garden patio area was really good for sitting out and for the baby to crawl around. The high chair and cot worked perfectly. Church bay is such a wonderful spot. The only things that would have been improvements if I was being picky were slightly larger bath towels and a few more mugs as we ran out very quickly. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The bungalow was spacious and comfortable and we really appreciated the enclosed garden and loved that we were in walking distance from the beautiful beach.

Being the summer holidays and fantastic weather, it was busy as expected, but this wasn't a problem.

The only thing missing was a sun brolly for the patio.

We have had one of our most enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful holidays for many years.

Lovely home.

Fantastic location 2 mins walk to the sea lobster pot restaurant next door plus Wavecrest cafe 200 yards with lovely owners and fabulous home cooked food and great atmosphere only 20 mins drive to Tesco. Morrisons etc . definitely recommend.

Wow, what a lovely cottage and location.

The cottage was absolutely delightful with everything we needed. There was lots of room and a new kitchen had obviously been installed, to a high standard, since some of the previous reviews had been written. We had a day of very strong winds and torrential rain so just had to stay in. It is well decorated and really pleasant to spend the day inside. The beds are really comfortable and both bathrooms excellent. It makes a change to really have gardens which are totally dog proof. The owners have gone a long way to ensure even the very small dog with us couldn’t escape! The location is superb with the beach literally minutes away, albeit a steep walk down, just take your time. The views from the top are incredible and there are lots of walks, including the coastal path covering the whole island, for the more mobile. The Wavecrest cafe certainly lives up to it’s reviews and is well worth visiting more than once! The rest of the island is easy to explore and the large supermarkets are only 20 mins drive away. Highly recommend, hope to return.

The bungalow was superb, beautiful location and peaceful.

It was well equipped, clean with very good heating and hot water.ĺ We had a wonderful sunny week staying at this property and I would highly recommend it. Thank you to the owners for their help.

This is a beautiful bungalow and personally the pictures dont do it justice.

I think up to date photos are needed as the bungalow has been decorated with a new kitchen installed. It had everything you needed . Upon arrival a small carton of milk with teas, sugar coffee sachets, packets of biscuits and a bottle of white wine which i thought was a lovely touch . The garden area is lovely and secure for the dogs, we pulled up on the drive and let the dogs out after a long drive but as soon as you enter to the right it was abit like a swamp with the rain and all the bungalow except the kitchen is grey carpet so found it easier to use the back door and close the kitchen doors untill the dogs were clean and dry . I did see from the double ensuite out the window a caravan on the land behind with a security camera , i felt this was close to the property and was facing direct so i kept the blinds shut . Perfect location , the bay was stunning , lots of rock pools , the sun set was outstanding from the beach . Lovely coastal paths and cafe 2 mins walk away . The lobster pot was lovely. Highly recommended

Cottage was excellent, everything we needed was there cozy and warm (especially as storm Gerrit arrived) comfy beds, great for the dogs as the garden is enclosed.

As it was Christmas the owner had decorated, with Christmas Crackers on the table and a lovely Christmas

Absolutely a gem of a property very clean and comfortable lot of good walks around the island could not fault anything we will be back

Would have loved to have stayed another week.

Nothing for miles. Lovely walks then settle back with a drink and a movie. Will definitely book again xxx

The bungalow was well prepared for our arrival.

All beds were made and towels were provided .We had asked for a high chair and travel cot. Both were available on arrival. The high chair was excellent, praised by the parents and the 10 month old user. The kitchen was very well equipped and all appliances worked well. Both bathrooms were of very good quality. Hot water was readily available. We felt that both bathrooms would have benefitted from extractor fans. The living room was spacious but we felt that the settees were rather uncomfortable. Overall an excellent location and well equipped bungalow.

Perfect location in beautiful Church Bay and the cottage was very spacious and comfortable.

Also has a lovely garden and private parking.

Lovely location with the beach a short stroll away.

The garden is enclosed with lovely solid wooden benches and chairs around a large table. Beautiful plants and trees with lots of wild birds visiting. We spent lots of time in the garden with our dogs as the weather was so beautiful. Bathrooms are both modern but just a shame the en suite wet room is accessed by quite a big step down from the main bedroom.

Location is perfect.

would love to visit in the summer when there are more facilities available. Couldn’t fault anything, although coat hangers in the wardrobe would have been helpful ! Lovely property and would have vacuumed through on leaving but no cleaner available. No complaints at all, loved the visit to church bay again after many years as did my companions.

The kitchen could do with modernisation and there wasn't enough general equipment, also the edging strips are dangerous, I had to use plasters to prevent further damage as i tore a top on the edging.

This is a lovely bungalow in a beautiful setting so close to the beach at Church Bay.

The facilities are excellent and the property is well appointed and spacious with 3 good sized bedrooms. The welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch. We had a problem with the CH boiler and it was fixed straight away. Great service. I would ask that the following comment is not included in the published feedback and is something for Tristan and Nia to consider. The ensuite bathroom off the main bedroom doesn't have any ventilation nor an opening window. Everywhere was dripping after taking a shower. I suggest that you install an extractor fan to remove the damp air.

The property is in a great position and the facilities are very good .

The property was very clean and tidy . Church Bay is a lovely sheltered beach and great for kids A large retail park is a short 15 minute drive away if you need supplies . It did advertise a washer/drier for the property but there was only a washer . Had an issue with the tv in accessing channels which the owner did attend but the problem persisted but it was not a big problem. My wife didn't bring a hair drier because usually properties of this standard usually have one unfortunately there was none .The little covered seating area at the top of the garden is lovely to sit in the evening but the bush in front of it needs trimming down as it obscures the sunlight. These are all minor things and did not spoil what was a lovely stay in a great property in a great location .Will definitely be coming back !

We had a lovely holiday, the cottage was clean, airy and very well equipped.

Been virtually on the beach and allowing dogs made it the perfect location! We will be back!

The cottage had everything we wanted, it was clean, bright,warm and very comfortable.

The kitchen was well stocked. The garden was perfect for our dog, safe and secure. The beach was a very short walk away. If needed a large retail park was in Holyhead. We couldn’t ask for morel HAPPY HOLIDAY. Anne and Jack.

Bungalow was first rate, owner was brilliant when we reported slow draining shower.

Checked and fixed immediately. The bungalow had everything we needed to cater at home if we needed. Garden was great for the dog to run around safely and to sit and relax in. Location was brilliant, out of the way, close access to a beautiful beach and easy reach of Holyhead for large supermarket.

We were very grateful to be able to move to Bwythn Y Bae when the heating and hot water in our original holiday cottage stopped working.

The property is clean, spacious and warm. It offers wonderful access to the beach and coast path. Phone reception is poor, but excellent WiFi helps to make up for this. There is only one bathroom, which needs updating, and no separate toilet. The kitchen is spacious, and has all the usual white-goods, but is poorly equipped for aspiring cooks. We know the owners have plans to improve the cottage, and we’re sure it’ll be a great stay.

The cottage was just what we wanted.

A good size for 6 adults. Clean and well looked after. The secured garden was great for our dogs. Not luxury but very much a home from home. Smart TV was great on those wet days when we couldn't go out. We liked it so much we have booked for next year.

Had a lovely comfortable break with my family.

Look forward to booking again in the near future. The weather was a little unkind (wind, rain everyday) but that didn’t stop us walking down the road to Church Bay. Great beach to relax on or just walk the dog. Ideal place to stay and visit the wonderful seaside towns around Anglesey. Don’t forget to book the Lobster Pot just down the lane from your holiday home.

This was our second stay at church bay in a beautiful property in beautiful surroundings.

Whilst we did not meet the hosts, we would like to thank them for such a beautiful holiday home. We visited all our favourite locations again whilst there and the weather was amazing. The only disappointment was not being able to eat at the lobster pot, because they are fully booked until the October, which would have been nice as we were on our honeymoon. We left the property as we found when we arrived clean and tidy and we shall be back.

Location is perfect, right next to a wonderful beach. Cottage could do with a little attention but this is not a holiday spoiler. It is a perfect holiday location. Thank you

The standard of cleanliness, particularly in the bathroom, was not up to great.

There was black mould on some of the grout which can easily be scrubbed off - I managed to scratch some of with my nail very easily. The inside of the bath was clean but the corners where the bath meets the wall and the top edge of the bath panel were thick with dust. The bath mat had some black mould on it. The overflow in the sink is black. The water pressure is poor. The toilet is difficult to flush and the extractor fan in the bathroom does not work. The oven thermometer regulator does not work efficiently if at all. We see this has been previously reported in June but still not repaired in time for our stay in August. We were 6 adults and we do not feel the house really suits 6 adults. May be 4 adults and 2 children maximum. We knew only 1 toilet was offered when we booked and that it was in the only bathroom however, we really do believe there is scope to provide at least an additional toilet if not an en suite. The kitchen has enough crockery and cutlery for one meal serving so you have to wash up or use the dishwasher after every meal. Minimal cooking utensils and knives are provided. It really could be made so much more welcoming and better supplied. When we arrived a lady was leaving through the front door and darted around the back instead of explaining why she was there. We followed to see who she was but she had gone into the field behind the house. She had left the back gate open and there was a coat and food in a bag hanging off it. There was gentleman operating out of the back of the garage (attached to the property) I asked him who the items belonged to as I needed to close the gate to stop our dogs escaping and I received a very gruff response telling me not to throw it on the floor which I had no intention of doing. The house is directly opposite a camp site across the lane, although it was generally quiet. Behind the house is some kind of industrial lorry/storage area. Some of the garden has been fenced off to provide static caravan accommodation which is either booked independently or can be booked by whoever is in the house. Garden furniture was a bench in a garden hut and pub garden table/bench. Nowhere near sufficient for 6 people no matter what age. No garden brolly provided that we could find. Overall, this house is in a good location for beach access however, we felt overpriced, basic, not clean enough and very understocked in the kitchen.

Yes several things not working hot tap in the bathroom sink.

The oven's thermostat had failed so there was no way of setting an oven temperature. kitchen scales would have been nice as we did a lot of cooking.
