Also no response to phone call and text when we had to leave early, leaving the property unlocked.

Hello. I'm not aware of any missed calls as we always try to be on hand to help with any queries. I'm sorry that you couldn't get through. I will call the agent to ensure that the correct phone number was given. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely and well presented, The owners have done an amazing job bringing the property up to date for a nice holiday break."

Only minor issues were, Upstairs toilet rocked while sitting on it and two low toilet rolls on arrival. Main problem was the broadband router not working, Now for my partner & i this isn’t really a problem but with two teenagers and poor WiFi signal at the property it did cause rather a lot of stress that we both could of done without while trying to relax & unwind whilst on hols. We did contact the owner, Who was helpful in coming over and bringing a box of chocolates & trying to fix it but to no avail we were told engineers would fix the problem by Tuesday. Our stay was Friday to Friday and unfortunately had no broadband in this entire time nor did we then hear of any update from the owner regrading this which was also rather a let down and depressing for what was meant to be an enjoyable holiday.

  • "Spent a fantastic week at the cottage."

It immediately felt like home and was so clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The surroundings were very peaceful, just the sounds of the river, the cows and the birds. Really well situated for Caernarfon (plenty of supermarkets) as well as Snowdon and Portmeirion.

The owners were great and although we didn't actually meet face to face, had left all of the additional things we requested (cot, high chair, etc) out for us on arrival and were helpful and responsive via text during our stay. Overall and wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this property.

  • "Pen-y-bont is a lovely cottage and very spacious."

We appreciated the Welsh cakes and juice awaiting us after a very difficult drive in atrocious weather. Our Host was very friendly and popped in to see us after we arrived. It is in a lovely rural location with a 17th century bridge and stream close by, and close to Snowdonia national park, Caernarfon Castle, Portmeirion Village where ‘The Prisoner’ was filmed. We also went across to Anglesey and saw South Stack, very picturesque and Beaumaris castle and the N.T property Plas Newydd. We had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

  • "We've stayed at pen y bont several times."

Love this cottage and its location. There is something for everyone and plenty of room for us to enjoy ourselves, regardless of the weather. As usual the cottage catered for all of our needs. Enjoyed watching the Birdlife and especially the bats in the evenings. Everything was clean, but we encountered a few problems with the showers. Mr and Mrs Evans were very apologetic (thank you for the lovely wine and chocolates), and we're keen to try and solve them immediately. Thank you for another wonderful visit. Looking forward to our next one. Xx

  • "Excellent property (VERY spacious and on the whole clean ."

... a few things need some TLC & we did have to ask the owner to clean the oven which was disgustingly greasy and dirty). Slightly difficult to find (look on Google Earth before going). Always use the entry off the A487 near the bridge and go through the village as from the other way it's a NARROW lane ...don't risk it !). Entry about 50 yards from the narrow entry gate is in need of some care to stop cars bottoming in the centre of the wheel tracks. There were no instructions on how to operate anything. Some radiators hot/some cold too ... nothing to do with the thermostats on each radiator. Note that stairs are quite narrow and steeper than usual steps. The property is well located to visit places. Would definitely use this property again.

Recommended. The property would benefit from an information booklet listing local amenities , eg nearest supermarket, eating places etc A tumble dryer would also be a useful addition.

  • "This is one of the best holiday cottages I have ever had and I would have given it 5 stars except for a few negatives."

I booked the property for 5 adults, myself and my three children and my daughters partner. One thing that drew me to the property was that it had a sofa bed downstairs which could be made up so that a living room off the lounge could be used as a bedroom. The owners made this up for me but on arrival explained that it wasn't very comfortable and could not have any sheets on it as there's no mattress/cushions to fix it under. Consequently, my two sons (27 and 19) had to share the small bedroom with two bunk beds. They didn't mind too much but as we were lucky to have hot weather they did not sleep well in such a small hot room. Additionally, we discovered after a few days that the front door did not lock properly. You raised the handle and turned the key and it appeared to lock but if you pushed the handle down hard it would simply open again. You had to try several times to ensure the door was locked properly and so it may not have been properly secured during our first few days. Fortunately, the property is in a very quiet location with no passing traffic. I raised some other issues with the owners on the first day and these were promptly attended to. Overall, we had a great week and loved the cottage, if the above issues are addressed it would definitely be 5 star.
