  • "I would to share some feedback."

Firstly, the cottage was lovely. Though I would not book with Sykes again… the emails were good as far as information but if you need to speak to someone from there then it was almost impossible to actually speak to a person.. … this was after I emailed at least twice, utilised their what’s app Facility - no reply on any of these. It felt like once I’d paid no one could be bothered. I called eventually after finding a number and got cut off. Called again to be passed around. VERY hard work and not very professional. The cottage was lovely - the BIGGEST gripe I had was that cleaners had been in yet I couldn’t believe the amount of dog hairs on the sofa that were quite obvious and I had to get the hoover out. It is something I feel strongly about as I don’t let our dog on sofas. I just felt that cleaning the settee would have been done before we arrived. We did need the heating on at least 2 evenings and the heaters were quite difficult to understand and work out. Overall nice cottage and the location is beautiful as you’re half way up the great Orme but for me, customer service was the letdown.

Hi Cheryl, Sorry to hear you had a few issues with Sykes, in my experience as an owner they are normally fantastic at looking after the guests. Apologies about the cleaners, the cleaner owner is very proud of her company and sorted this issue out with the cleaner. Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes Evan (Owner) Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the cottage late Friday in the evening we un-packed the car and went to charge up at the charger to find it was not working."

The cottage having a charging point was one of the main selling points and one of the many reasons we chose to return for a second consecutive year. The charger takes any anxiety out of exploring the area which is really beautiful if you have an electric car. I contacted the owner about the charger and an electrician came around on Sunday to repair the charger so I could use it to charge my car, the local charging infrastructure isn't great. The electrician said he would have been up to repair it on the saturday but it was really wet and rainy that day so not really safe to do the repairs. The owner also offered me the use of his alternative private charger down in Llandudno itself which was much appreciated but I had managed to put some volts into my car from a leisure center charger while we were out shopping in Llandudno. The cottage was much the same as the last time we stayed with the exception of a different sofa which had been replaced for a newer one. The cottage is an adequate clean, tidy, warm and functional base to chill and explore the surrounding area, it's in a great location a short walk to the copper mine and not far from the Great Orme Summit. In my experience if you have an issue text the owner and I'm sure he will do his very best to quickly sort it for you. Thanks for a nice stay.

Hi Stephen, Many thanks for your review and your second stay at Ty Bach. Glad the electrician sorted the charger, we are in the process of changing to a new higher powered one. Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes Evan (Owner) Property Owner

The electric car charger, a key reason for choosing this cottage, didn't work. Fortunately I took my own lead. The squeaky bed and poor mattress should be replaced. We didn't sleep well. Towels were thin and poor quality. Take your own.

Hi Steve, Sorry you experienced a few issues. The beds are brand new. The charger is sorted and I’ve changed the towels. Many thanks Evan (Owner) Property Owner

Wild goats and sheep coming into the drive an absolute bonus. Reluctant to be negative BUT the beds' lack of comfort spoilt things a bit dreadful mattresses, l slept on sofa. Both shower units faulty , ie scalding/freezing, and the heating kept going off meaning jumpers and socks going on - in July. If these issues are addressed then a perfect holiday cottage.

The house is only a 5 minute walk from the 1/2 way point up the great Orme which was helpful on the last day as we were tired. Easy to walk down to Llandudno but lots of steps & very steep no you’d with mobility problems or a pram. Loved our welcome gift! Great accommodation, clean & well maintained. Great to have parking. Only feedback would be the en suite didn’t drain so you could only have a 2 minute shower.

Turned out to be water in the outside sockets due to the amateur wiring (pictures taken) so he had to disconnect them resulting in no outside lights all week - not good considering the location. Apart from this the week went well except for the previous said little niggles about size of bathrooms, heating etc. even the sofa was now comfortable! On our departure day we cleaned up and stripped the beds as requested. Shock and Horror at the dirty stains on the mattress and protector.......DISGUSTING. Even the pillows were stained. We would never of slept on this bed had we seen these earlier. Lovely location but NO we won't be returning.

Dear Bob, I am sorry you have experienced a few niggles upon your stay. We take any issues seriously and always expect the best for our cottages. The electric issue was the first time ever reported and was due to water getting in from the stormy weather the week you stayed. This was soon resolved. The bed sheet issue has been fully resolved with a total new set of covers, quirks, sheets, protectors etc… the mattress is only a few months new. Apologies for your review, we will ensure other quests will continue to enjoy the lovely cottage and great reviews. Many thanks, Evan (Owner) Property Owner

Having read previous reviews plus the description of the property it was everything we expected and we had a fantastic week. Pro’s compared to other cottages are parking, privacy and quietness. The front garden would be lovely, especially for the dogs, in dry weather but the back space was fine for the stay. The cottage is cosy however the electric radiators are not straightforward to work and we had to resort to using the fan heaters supplied. It appeared we would have a “log starter pack” on arrival however everything was there apart from logs. Once bought we were all set for the week. We would definitely stay again and would recommend.

Beautiful cottage and location with lovely walks out onto the Great Orme. The cottage was very clean ,well furnished and decorated and had everything you needed for a short break. The welcome basket with treats and Prosecco was a nice touch. Garden well kept and a nice peaceful place to sit and enjoy the sun with an enclosed area at the rear. En-suite bathrooms very compact but were fine for us and beds needed a touch of maintenance, especially the double bed which creaked with every move you made. Beware of sloped gravel car park which is deep in parts and my car got stuck so chose to park on the road side. The wifi was hit and miss as it is shared with next door and there were 6 adults and 3 children staying there. The tv remote won't scroll right. The electric charging point is also shared with next door. Luckily they all turned up in 3 engined vehicles so it was OK for us to use alone. Low voltage so it took 7 hours to charge 40% battery on our arrival. The cottage is nice and in a very quiet place. We were visited by a small flock of sheep regularly which was fun. Then we saw no logs had been left for us despite a message telling us to help ourselves to them plus the description online said the fuel was provided so we were sadly unable to light a fire our first night. There was also a lot of dog poo on the drive which we had to tip toe around in the snow. The youngsters staying at Ty Mawr next door had a party on the first 2 nights we stayed there. There was screaming, loud laughing, arguments and door slamming and it woke up up both nights at about 2am. Cobwebs were behind the bed in the single room and in the corners of the wall. Like others have said there was nowhere to put your stuff as there was no cupboards or shelves in either the bedrooms or bathrooms so we had to live out of our bags all week. The beds were hard and uncomfortable and we turned the heater off in the small bedroom and then it would not come on again all week. The oven would not cook our food properly as the food was either raw or burnt and there was no baking trays to cook food on. We ruined a few meals. Despite this we had a good time and the owner seemed lovely and left a few treats so we asked if we could stay a couple of extra nights at the end of the holiday. We paid £326 for the whole week plus a £39 booking fee to Sykes so was a bit shocked when the owner said he wanted an extra £200 for 2 nights. We made our excuses and left. Not sure we would go back as there are many other places to stay in Llandudno but we had a good time despite the bad snowy, windy weather.

Their accommodation was not clean and had used masks left in it... So, we entered our accommodation with trepidation. Unfortunately, our accommodation was also not clean and certainly didn't meet the deep clean/covid safe standards as advertised. We found the floor sticky and dirty. The kitchen had food splashes up the cupboards, food debris in the oven and cutlery draw, plates were dirty and food spillages in the fridge. The lounge area’s furniture (tables/chairs) were tacky, a build up of dust on landing. The bathrooms had greasy smears on the shower screens/mirrors (as if wiped with a dirty cloth), a lot of dust, a lot of hairs and sticky urine on bathroom facilities. The owner’s daughter visited and was hostile. She accused myself of being ‘funny” with her and told me that she didn’t need to be there and was doing me a favour. She told me they were using a really good cleaning company but they were expensive so swapped to a cheaper cleaning

  • "The location of the cottage was fantastic - the cottage was beautifully decorated."

Comfort- wise the quality of the beds was very sub-standard and mattresses such poor quality that sleep was really difficult. The quality of the bedding was also very low. Good sleep is part of a holiday in my view. Also, the limited crockery meant during dishwashing cycles we couldn’t even make a cup of tea. This really isn’t acceptable these days. The cottage was really clean and well kept. If you were to improve on the matters above you’d have an excellent offering that we would recommend to friends and family - but not before.

  • "Pros. Great Views from the Orme Tidy Little Cottage Peaceful Easy to access Llandudno and North wales."

Cons The Cottage is up a very steep hill, with narrow roads, could be an issue with a person disabilities. We left the cottage clean, but it would have been a help if there was a brush and a mop and bucket, which is essential in a cottage that takes dogs. We booked to take our dogs but left them a home, which meant cleaning up was much easier. But overall a nice little cottage.

  • "Just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday in Ty Bach."

Beautifully positioned on the Orme so, although slightly challenging if you like walking into town a lot (our neighbours told us it was just £3 in a taxi!), it would be hard to imagine a cottage better placed for walks from the door with the dogs. Would definitely come back.

  • "Although the cottage was in a lovely place with good views."

The facilities let it down. There were three of us and only 3 cups, knives and forks were available. I tea towel, clearly for any stay of a week it was not enough. The beds creaked and the couch was really uncomfortable.

  • "We were the first guests after lockdown eased and on arrival the cottage was cold as the storage heater had not been switched on in the living area."

We were extremely cold the first night despite lighting the wood burning stove, it was only after communicating with the owner the next day that we found the plinth heater in the kitchen area which helped. Access to the cottage is challenging as there is a very narrow lane from which you have to manoeuvre towards the cottage. The shower in the bedroom did not work but we were able to use the shower in the second bedroom - in fairness the owner offered to have it attended to either before or after we left. Both bathrooms were clean and modern but the shower was very weak and could not be used at full power as it began to pulse and the temperature varied - checking the instructions it would appear this is down to low water pressure. We found the bed comfortable and the bed linen was clean. The cottage had been renovated to a good standard and is in a lovely location with excellent walks around Great Orme literally on the doorstep - it was lovely to see the goats and their kids on the walks and we have some photographs to treasure.

Our main priority was being dog friendly...it certainly with a secure front garden. Inside is decorated and laid out perfectly for a couple or couple with child (or dogs). All mod cons available Inc Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washing machine etc... in a modern kitchen. Open Plan living room/kitchen with patio doors letting in loads of sunshine. At night it's total peace and quiet. If you have a dog ...the nearest pub The Kings Head is dog friendly and an 8 minute walk down steep roads ....would we book to go back? YES

  • "We visited Ty Bach Cottage from 10."

1.20 to 17.1.20 and were some of its first guests. As regular cottage renters (about 6 times a year) I can honestly say this was one of the best we’ve ever stayed in. The cottage has very recently been completely renovated too the highest standards, and the décor, fixtures and fittings are all top class. On arrival there was a comprehensive welcome pack with tea and coffee making facilities and a bottle of Prosecco and some sweets. There are also some nice ‘high-end’ touches like free access to Netflix, dishwasher, washer/dryer, Wi-Fi and all en-suite bedrooms. During our visit the owners also let us have a look at Ty Mawr their neighbouring cottage which is equally well renovated and finished to the highest standards, just a lot bigger. Ty Bach is located in one of the highest settlements on the Great Orme with great views of Llandudno Bay and over the Conwy estuary to Conwy Castle. Access to the cottage is by very steep and narrow roads, however most cars and vans seemed to have no problems (I’d make sure my car was in good order however before visiting especially clutch and brakes). The Cottage is very dog friendly and our two loved their stay, be careful though and remembers to keep your dogs ‘ON LEAD’ at all times when outside the garden, the Great Orme is working farmland as well as a country park and has around 122 wild Kashmiri Goats. We will definitely stay again, the only negative thing in our stay was a bit of wild and windy weather, which nobody can control.

About the location

LLANDUDNO

Conwy 4 miles, Colwyn Bay 6 miles, Snowdonia 20 miles.

Llandudno lies between two headlands, the Great Orme and the Little Orme and it is these headlands, and the town's two waterfronts, that give this tourist resort its special appeal. The town offers two superb beaches - the North Shore, with its wide promenade backed by an imposing crescent of Victorian hotels and the quieter West Shore with miles of sandy shoreline backed by sand dunes and superb views towards Anglesey. For the best views, however, you can reach the summit of the 679ft Great Orme using either the Great Orme Tramway or by taking an exciting cable car ride of over a mile. The town has an excellent selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, as well as Venue Cymru, which is North Wales' premier theatrical stage for opera, ballet, musicals, comedy and visiting orchestras, boasting a programme that is second to none - all this is just a stone's throw from the promenade. Just 4 miles away is the town of Conwy - a designated World Heritage Site. A true medieval gem, Conwy is dominated by a splendid castle and completely enclosed by its well-preserved town walls. Discover miles of sandy beaches along the North Wales coast and excellent walking and climbing in the Snowdonia National Park just 20 minutes' drive away - there's plenty to see and do!
