  • "A lovely mix of old fashioned charm and modern style."

The first floor lounge was a perfect spot for the daily sunset watch over the bay. The owner was helpful and informative. A real gem of a house.

  • "My memories of Gorphwysfa: (i) in a tiny, quiet and remote village with beautiful views across the bay, and a sense of peace (ii) a 2 minute walk past the church and down the lane to the huge sandy beach full of shells (iii) the cottage feels like a spacious home with multiple shared spaces for those holiday catch-up conversations with others."

Great for 6 people. Bathrooms might be a bit awkward for 8 adults.

Facilities top notch. Lovely to be able to walk to the beach. Welcome pack was a great surprise and very enjoyable. Overall we had a great stay at this lovely cottage by the sea.

The views from the top lounge are wonderful. There’s not much around the area , so be prepared to travel to the best pubs and restaurants. The owner was very helpful and communicated promptly.

Thank you very much for your review and giving us such a top rate rating! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Gorphwysfa. Property Owner

  • "Thank you for a lovely week in this beautiful house."

We particularly enjoyed both sitting rooms and the whole house is thoughtfully furnished to anticipate what we need. We had lovely walks exploring the local beach and amazing views from Bwrdd Arthur, saw puffins and seals on a boat trip to Puffin Island, visited the sea zoo, Beaumaris Castle, Plas Newydd, the copper mountain and Moelfres RNLI station. Can recommend Liverpool Arms at Beaumaris and Kinmel Arms at Moelfre!

  • "We had a wonderful week here in Llanddona."

Beautiful house, excellent views. We spent many hours in the top living room enjoying the fantastic scenery. We enjoyed how remote the setting was and took trips down to the secluded part of the beach almost every day.

  • "Wonderful views and birdsong, weather has been excellent considering time of year, local pub excellent for food and real ale, and friendly clientele."

Good place to start from to explore. Anglesey. Delightful.

  • "The scenery from this cottage is amazing, having the beach so close has been perfect."

We enjoyed the boxing day tradition of having a dip in the sea with the villagers. Overall we all enjoyed our week spending time over the Christmas period with our Family.

  • "A lovely cottage in a wonderful location, sea views from several windows especially the upstairs lounge (shame the log burner in here couldn't be used)."

Well equipped for humans & dogs didn't find anything missing or broken. We had a wonderful winter break as an extended family with an engagement, a birthday and finished off with the Northern Lights! Our dog loved running on the beach and even in the sea, liked the underfloor heating as well!! Only suggested improvement is check outside lights work as we could only get one to come on and it does go very dark here, great for star spotting. We were contacted by the owner a few days before to say we could arrive earlier than normal as cleaners had been in and again before we left to say could depart later, so managed a last walk on beach.

Thank you for sharing such positive feedback. The upstairs snug has a radiator and due to previous misuse we allow holidaymakers to use only the stove in the living room (as listed in the house summary). Unfortunately we have just found out that the back of house lighting was switched off but now back on!! Your review in my guest book was amazing. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage in a stunning location, wonderful views over Llanddona beach."

Everything you needed for a home from home holiday was there and more. The kitchen was absolutely stunning, and modern .Though spotlessly clean we felt the rest of it was a little tired in places, also the photos on the listing are misleading as the upstairs woodburner can’t be used, one of the reasons we booked the cottage.

Thank you for sharing how much you enjoyed your stay at Gorphwysfa. There is a log burning stove in the living room complete with a basket of wood provided. Winter time is an excellent time for us to freshen up paintwork but for sure the beauty of Gorphwysfa is the new extension complimenting the 1870’s period style of the cottage. Very are very pleased to hear how you are looking forward revisiting. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time staying at Gorphwysfa."

The views from the property are wonderful. The kitchen is excellent, fully equipped with everything you'd need. My husband loved the additional lounge above the kitchen, and called it his reading room. I found myself sitting in a chair looking at the view for a long time! Our teenage son was very pleased with the quality of the WiFi. The ensuite bedroom had a very comfortable mattress, but the bed frame was very squeaky whenever someone moved in bed. The wooden floors are traditional but would benefit from a small rug. These points are personal and don't detract from the stay. We would definitely recommend a stay. The location is remote, however, whilst the road to it is narrow you rarely see an oncoming car. In fact we found the travelling not a problem. It was a quick journey to Beaumaris.

Thank you Wendy for taking time to leave your review and we are really pleased to hear how you and your family enjoyed your stay at Gorphwysfa. It's certainly new news for us to hear about the main bedroom bed frame squeaking and we will definitely look into this. Property Owner

  • "We had a great half term week here."

The house has such stunning views and we have been very lucky with the weather. Beach every morning with the children. We got out and visited Newborough which was the most stunning beach and walks with the Lighthouse. Also the model village ,transport museum and Foel Farm which were all really sweet for young kids. We did get a chance to do the Sea Zoo. Beaumaris Castle was also a highlight. The house has been a great base and kitchen well stocked we have enjoyed the sun coming up from the snug and being cosy in the living room at night. We had a lovely meal in the Panton Arms in Pentraeth. We have really enjoyed Anglesey and will come back to the area. Thank you for a great stay.

  • "From the moment we entered we knew it was special !"

The first floor sitting room is the icing on the cake! The view is outstanding. the landscaped garden is beautifully maintained. The fixtures and fittings are top quality. The EV charge point was a bonus. It's only a short walk to the beach, which is unspoilt. We felt totally at home here. Nicola was very helpful during our stay. So sad to leave!

  • "The property was VERY dirty, the bathroom had mould on the tiles, skirting boards hadn’t been cleaned for months, chipped glasses & cooking dishes."

Towels smelt disgusting!!! Bed linen had stains on. Also the property didn’t supply the basics of washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets or extra bin bags. The internal paintwork all needs refreshed. When paying as much money for a weeks holiday you expect the property to be up to standard, this was the most expensive place we have stayed and basically the dirtiest, we understand we are paying for the location and the view from the extension which is pretty amazing and which sold the house for us, but very disappointed, this house has a lot of potential but I wouldn’t return.

This is the worst review we have ever had on the property. It's a shame that when we contacted you at the start of your stay to see if all was OK, we received no response. Had you informed us that you were unhappy, then we could have tried to address your concerns. Instead you chose to stay in an apparently very dirty property for the week without contacting us or Sykes? We checked and could not find any chipped glasses. We're truly baffled by your review and feel sorry that you felt compelled to write such poor (and inaccurate) comments on Gorphwysfa. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house, traditional with style in a beautiful location."

very private and spacious inside & out although the road down to property is extremely steep, twisty, 1 track, unlit, not suitable for walking with children, babies, or older people; even the trip to the local for dinner is a car journey unless you are very fit experienced walkers. Propety's owner was very helpful and efficient with replies to any queries we had.

Thank you Lynn for your two page review, full of praise and sharing your holiday activities in our guest book at Gorphwysfa. It’s lovely to hear that you look forward to a return visit with your family. We do walk the road (along with our eighty year old neighbour too) and agree the road is steep and winding in parts but it is a public single track road with passing places that is well maintained. • "Lovely property in a beautiful location."

The good weather allowed us to enjoy the very private gardens. Lots of great walks from the house, we would recommend the walk to Beaumaris along the costal path. We had a fantastic time and would love to return one day.

  • "We enjoyed a lovely week at Gorphwysfa - It's a great stone cottage and the kitchen extension has been very sympathetically built and is well equipped."

We rarely used the snug as the weather was so good but we made full use of the tiered garden which we loved. The garden is a real hot spot despite a cool north wind at times and we enjoyed watching the sun setting over the island. Being a stone's throw from the magnificent Red Wharf Bay for walking and swimming was a bonus and the coastal path can easily be accessed. We all felt the bedrooms would feel cosier with larger rugs on boarded floor and mats in the shower to prevent slipping.

  • "A truly amazing property in a spectacular location."

The house is one of the best we’ve ever stayed in (and we’ve stayed in a lot!). The kitchen is wonderful, well equipped with lots of storage space and all the other rooms are comfortable and charming. Especially the upstairs snug with those amazing picture bi-fold doors. Also a charming cottage to boot! The location is a little remote - it’s a 30 minute drive to get to any of the main sites in the area - but this is more than made up for by the beach which is stunning and just a five minute walk from the house. We loved it so much we are re-booking for next year - and we never rebook anywhere so this is praise indeed!

The view from the house is incredible with the added bonus of the floor to ceiling windows to sit and enjoy it. Would definitely stay here again
