  • "We had a lovely stay in a very spacious well kept spotlessly clean accommodation ."

Everything you need for your stay is there owner even left a very tasty lemon cake tea bags milk and handy things like bin bags dish washer tablets which was very welcoming and usefull . We had a problem with the key as we thought we had lost it . The owner was very helpful and understanding and gave us advice . We found the key fortunately and the owner was so understanding . The house itself is really large with fabulous sized bedrooms and lots of storage space. We were a group of six three adults and a teenager and two eleven year old who were able to come together in the living rooms and kitchen for meals yet still have our own space to have chill time . The scenery is beautiful and the panoramic view from the sitting room is mesmerising as it changes so much with the weather . Plenty to do in the surrounding areas some good suggestions in the information book provided in the accommodation . Altogether a really lovely half term break and we would not hesitate to return . Thank you so much to the owners for the use of their lovely property .

We would like to thank you for your comments, and are glad that you had an enjoyable and pleasant break. We do try our best to give our guests the best experience we can. We are also glad that you liked and enjoyed the things we leave, just to welcome our guests on there arrival. Thank you once again. You will always be welcome to return. Rita and John Property Owner

  • "This property could be great."

The location and views are spectacular, but the interior just feels a bit tired and dated. Pros Lots of space Good views Nice and warm Good location Plenty of parking room Cons Wi-if is very slow and not very reliable. SMART TV? Not much choice of app and it kept dropping out mid programme and then it was difficult to get back to what we were watching. Really frustrating. The crockery is nearly all chipped or cracked. Not much of the cutlery matches. The mattress in the downstairs bedroom is uncomfortable and needs replacing. The air freshener or maybe shake and vac that the cleaner had used gave us breathing problems when we first arrived and for a few days until it wore off. Chimney needs to be blocked off as the fire can’t be used. It was very draughty in windy conditions. Paintwork needs refreshing in some areas, particularly around the bin in the kitchen. Clean the windows. They spoil the view with last summer’s cobwebs.

We would like to thank you for your review. We attended the property soon after the guests left as the photographer from Sykes cottages was due to take new photo’s, as there are now new carpets throughout and the terrace has been renewed to give a better view of the Menai straights and mountains beyond. We checked the cutlery and pulled out nine place settings of matching. The crockery we pulled out two bowls and five plates, two of the plates were badly chipped the rest needed to be studied very carefully to find anything wrong. There is ample other crockery in the cupboard. There is now, to date, no chipped crockery. We also added a new set The WiFi, all we can say is that we never had any problems. Perhaps it was affected by the weather, the three storms we had in succession with very strong winds and very heavy rain and also freezing temperatures. The fire in the living room is a gas fire which has been disconnected for safety. There is no need for it when we have central heating. The downstairs bedroom mattress is soft, by design, and doesn’t need changing. What’s comfy for one person is not for another. We always renew things when they need it. The painter has been booked for months and is going in on the 4th Feb. to refresh the areas that need it. The property was nice and warm. We found the schedule on the heating set to random temperatures ranging from 17 degrees to 31 degrees changing frequently, up and down, throughout the day and all week, this must have been quite a laborious job for someone. It has now been set to let guests control there own temperatures. We always try to improve our service to give a good experience to our guests. Property Owner

Lots of space to spread out great for 6 slimer adults and 2 small kids as bed sizes were not the the fuller figure Cons: Crockery (cups and plates) badly chipped, found this on the 1st day they should be replaced. We had a larger vehicle and it caused us a problem trying to access the property. Otherwise would have no problem recommending this property to another renter

  • "The property is spacious and has a great view across the Menai Straight, however it is desperate need of some TLC!"

The fire in the lounge has a large red/yellow DO NOT USE sign on it, the dishwasher had a note saying press the buttons gently and the outside space was unusable due to weeds, brambles and in general need of care. The approach to the property is in need of some tidying and care. Whilst we were there the upstairs shower leaked a cascade of water down the dining room wall and kitchen ceiling and although a plumber was called it was not rectified and so also had DO NOT USE notices which meant one shower between 7 guests! On closer look, this had obviously happened before as there were water stains and sagging on the kitchen ceiling and wall cupboards and also along the cornice in the dining area. The downstairs bedroom was damp and musty. We called the owner as the curtains in the lounge and downstairs bedroom were hanging off the wall. A handyman arrived one evening and did a temporary job using cable ties. Overall, it is a lovely property in a good location but needs some serious care and maintenance to bring it up to an appropriate standard, and not worth the fee we paid for our stay.

Rita and John would just like to thank you for your feedback. The fire in the lounge does have a note, it is a gas fire and has been disconnected for safety. The dishwasher also has a note to say push the button gently as it’s a micro switch and only needs a slight touch. The note is just for information. We can’t imagine how there could possibly be no outside space as there is a large terrace with beautiful views over the Menai Straits and mountains beyond. We did, unfortunately, have a leak from the shower, the plumber went next day, during the bank holiday weekend, but could not find anything . Two plumbers then went and sealed around the tiles. There were two baths and a shower still available whilst it was fixed. We always ask our guests to phone us if they have any problems so that we can get them sorted out straight away. Property Owner

The view of the property on arrival was good, however on the inside it was very different and somewhat disappointing. All bed's are in desperate need of new mattresses, towels need renewing, these issues have been mentioned before but nothing has been done to rectify these issues. All the crockery need's to be replaced as most of it is chipped and cracked, as well as the glasses. The downstairs on-suite bathroom need's a thourgh cleaning, especially the shower hose which is thick of black grime. All carpeting is in good condition but there is a hole in the floor in the living room underneath the carpet. All in all, we feel that this property is in desperate need of a deep and thorough cleaning. We would not recommend this property. Also we recommend that Sykes as a company, need to regularly check holiday let's.

Welcome pack appreciated. The weather was also superb and made the vacation. We will book again as this is the best house we have rented in the last 10 years. CONS The only draw backs are with the TV's and Wi Fi TV in small lounge does not work at all. The remote control on the main lounge television is one of those universal remotes and does not allow access to a number of the TV's facilities such as MUTE button etc. The Wi Fi is always buffering and is only really good enough to collect emails. I would suggest improved directions to get you from the roadway to the archway. Took a while to find the correct entrance.

  • "This is a lovely, spacious property that has spectacular views of the Menai Straits & Snowdonia."

Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need and utility room very handy with extra fridge/freezer & washing machine, slow cooker etc an added bonus. The upstairs bedroom areas are so spacious and there is a delightful bathroom with a fabulous shower, 2 sinks, a large bath and great flush toilet. The airing cupboard has plenty of extra towels if needed. All bedrooms have plenty of storage space and I slept in the twin bedded room and my bed was so comfortable with lovely pillows and luxury duvet. Only drawback was the very squeaky floorboards upstairs, but that is a minor set back. The owners, Mr & Mrs Livesey were extremely helpful and sorted out a boiler problem immediately, with plumber attending within an hour. Also nice little welcome pack of milk & Welsh cakes. Downstairs also has the 2 lovely sitting rooms with very comfortable seating. The coal-effect gas fire has been disconnected, which was disappointing. The en-suite bedroom area on this floor was again very spacious, but unfortunately quite musty. More airing needs to be done if possible. There is also another modern separate toilet and sink. Perhaps a battery operated air freshener might help in this area and also as you come through the front door (which is in a shaded area). The views are magnificent from this large house but please can the windows in the large sitting room be cleaned from the outside. Nice outside seating area, but the paint needs to be refreshed. House lovely and cosy with the heating on. The blue information folder needs further updating. A lovely property that needs some tweaking to make it extra special.

Nowhere to hang our bathtowels after use, definately a shortage of hooks in the bathrooms. The bed in the first floor back bedroom was comfortable but the double in the front room had a dip in the centre (new mattress needed). The bedding looked very old and worn and well used and our mattress sheet there was a pink stain in the centre. The towels again looked well used. Considering the property catered for 8 people, there weren't enough wine glasses and beer glasses. A miss match of crockery. The hob in the kitchen was difficult to use at the beginning as all the numbers had all disappeared and through perserverance we did manage to work it out. Can understand it is hard to keep a cream carpet spotless on the ground floor but it was a bit off putting seeing the marks. The floorboards on the first floor were very noisey. There was excellent water pressure for the showers and plenty of hot water. The views are outstanding and we were lucky with the weather. If the owners addressed my observations I would certainly recommend the property and would also return.

The house is beautiful with most stunning view you would never get tired of overlooking. Having an extra lounge for the teenagers to do their own thing amd watch what they like on the tv is an added bonus.to all sorts around the kitchen island for breakfast is a simple thing we all take for granted in a busy household, but again was just lovely. The chateau opposite the house was also a lovely place to visit and they also made us welcome to walk the gardens and have drinks in the chateau as non residents there. Definitely worth a little visit. Having extra bathrooms also meant we could be ready to be out ready to go exploring. I would definitely stay here again as it really had a homely feel to the property. If I had to say a negative, the kitchen hot water tap makes the strangest noise but that really is me digging deep for a negative that can easily be resolved.

We had a couple of problems with the electrics, one was the fuses blowing, but the other I feel more serious with the light switch in the kitchen becoming very hot as the lights were stuck on. On both occasions the owner did respond very quickly by arranging for the electrician to come out right away to sort out the problem. The beds definitely need replacing. We slept in the double room facing the front and the bed was so uncomfortable due to it being broken as the middle wheal was missing which caused the bed to be uneven, we had a very bad night. We propt it up with a book which helped for the rest of the week, but I don't think this is acceptable. All the bedding needs replacing along with the towels, curtains and cushions. The hob in the kitchen I feel also needs replacing. There were no instructions and I was unfamiliar with this type of hob. The markings for the switches were worn and so took me a while to work out which hob was on as there was no indicator. We where pleasantly surprised to find the owner had put in a large fridge freezer, they had obviously listened to previous guests comments. Despite my negative views the house is lovely, and plenty big enough for family gatherings and the views are just brilliant, with a bit of updating it could be amazing.

  • "First of all, let me start off by saying how breathtakingly fabulous the views are from this holiday home."

That alone would have made this stay worth the price. It was honestly such a joy to wake up to every morning . The property overall was very well stocked with many amenities . We cooked in the whole time we were there and were able to easily do so with all the utensils available- with a massive kitchen to do that all in! . The bedrooms were lovely and spacious with beds of varying sturdiness / softness . The rooms are also a lovely size with the master bedroom being absolutely massive. The downstairs bedroom has an en-suite which was very handy with such a lovely deep bath to soak in. The shower upstairs was as impressive as the other reviews said. Like a deep massage . There are 2 living rooms but we all spent pretty much most of our time in the main living room with the beautiful massive bay windows that gave us the stunning views throughout the day . It was such a lovely sized living room for my family , where we could all sit and relax together or have our own space if preferred due to the large and open size of it. The decking was lovely too and something we would have enjoyed more had we come in the summer . We really do hope to come in the summer so we can enjoy the stunning views under nicer weather and clearer skies . Only cons were that the second oven didn’t really function to well , however the main oven worked well and if you’re not planning on cooking for a large family and staying in for most of it then it shouldn’t be an issue . The kitchen taps at times would make an odd screeching sound but I assumed it was probably due to the cold weather . Never really an issue as the taps worked fine. I do agree with the other reviewers that the fridge is too small for a house of its size assuming you’ve come with a large family . However , we managed to make it work by putting all our drinks outside on the deck which honestly kept them colder then the fridge would have due to it being winter . All these cons are very minor considering the property is truly lovely and only outdone by the beautiful views it so excellently provides being on top of a hill and not blocked by any other properties . The pictures truly can’t do it justice. Highly recommended. The owners were super lovely too and just left you to it , however were a phone call away if needed .

The property was a great size to accommodate us all. The view of the Menai Strait from the property is fantastic. The property soon warms up and strangely we found the larger lounge/dining area warmed up better than the separate smaller lounge which suited us as we mainly all sat together in the evening. You possibly have to see what previous guests have set it to as our first morning we woke up boiled with the heating set and on at 24 degrees, son then had a look and set it more to suit us for the week. The settees are comfy and we managed to get Sky onto the Smart TV using our laptop and wire to connect. The 2 ovens were very handy on the few times we ate in. Like other reviewers could possibly do with a 2nd fridge in the utility room to help with storage for larger groups but we managed. The bedroom sizes in this property are massive but on a downside think ALL the beds could do with replacing they are quite worn and very soft personally I think replace the beds and put the price up to pay for them. Just a small thing could do with a mirror in upstairs double bedroom as daughter had no where to do hair/makeup. The upstairs shower is fantastic so powerful and hot you don’t want to get out. And yes the floor boards are creaky there is definitely no way to avoid them try as you might, lol…… All in all this is a great property that just needs a bit of attention. My only negative is that the main bathroom shower, which has to be shared by the majority, has the worst water pressure that any of us have experienced before. If that can be addressed and / or another shower fitted in a shared area that would be a great improvement for any larger groups.

  • "The view from the two living room, from the kitchen, and the two front rooms, through the 10 bay windows is amazing, gorgeous, et!"

. It is exceptional and by far the strongest point! It is also incredibly spacious, but yet very comfortable. The environment was very quiet, and it is easy to walk around. Everything ran perfectly, owners Rita and John were very friendly. We recommend this place, and for sure we will try to come back.

The views from the front 2 lounges across the Menai Straight are stunning; watching the sun rise across the Snowdon mountain range standing outside on the raised decking was memorable. Thanks for making it such a great holiday experience

  • "House could do with some updating."

Very noisy creaky floorboards, most of the lights didn't work so very dull and very strange cooker that kept turning itself on and off so couldn't cook much.

  • "There were something's that needed fixing, upstairs toilet broken, needed to keep cistern lid off to flush from inside."

A broken chair that my 80 year old Mother nearly sat on, that should have been removed from house. Curtains not closing as tracks are broken. These things were a shame as made things a little bit awkward day to day, but the house is very spacious, clean and comfortable.

  • "We found the upstairs toilet difficult to flush, curtains hanging off the rail in downstairs bedroom and small lounge, the main oven in the kitchen cuts off during cooking but fortunately there is another cooker in the utility, we found fridge too small for large party of people, table in the lounge only seated six so had to squeeze high chair and an extra chair in."

Back door lock from kitchen to patio difficult to open and door from lounge to patio we could not unlock at all. Otherwise the house was lovely and spacious beautiful view, plenty of room for our large group, lounges comfortable, kitchen well equipped, close to amenities lots to do.

  • "The property was spacious, lovely albeit a little dated."

The balcony area doesn't have a view of the Menai Bridge as shown on the website but a picturesque view all the same. The steps down to the drive from the balcony has a dodgy bottom step, it is loose, a hazard! The mattresses are not very comfortable, quite a few sleepless nights. Eventhough we had a few niggly problems, it is a good base for exploring the surroundings.

  • "This is a beautiful spacious house in a great location with outstanding views."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however there are some issues. It is well equipped for children but we had to move an old t.v aerial from the decking as it was dangerous had any of our grandchildren fallen on it. The decking needs cleaning and maintaining as there are a couple of loose boards. The downstairs bed and the double bed upstairs have very worn and uncomfortable mattresses and my son who is 6ft tall could not fit his feet in the bed! There is also some bare plaster in the en suite and there is no excuse for the dirty toilet brush upstairs. The lounge is beautiful as is the smaller lounge and the house is exceptionally well equipped. If these issues are sorted we would love to stay again.

Great facilities with a great view. There was actually more in this house than was on the inventory on line. We didn't need to take our own hair dryer, or DVD player. Everything else was perfect.

Very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage itself is beautiful, there was 8 of us staying and it was very spacious and bedrooms are huge.
