  • "I booked two houses on the same street for a friendly reunion with old school friends who now live all over the world."

Upon entering the property I was impressed with its décor and cleanliness. Although I wasn’t staying in the house myself, my friends did and by virtue of this, did spend lots of time within the property. And for the first two days, I did wonder why the property had such poor ratings in comparison to the other house we booked on the same street. I personally don’t have much to comment on in regards of the stay, however I was extremely upset to wake up to a workman parked outside of the property on the Monday morning. I approached the man as he was starting to paint the house with wet, white paint, clearly not appropriate when children were playing. I asked him why he was there doing such a job, and he replied that the owners had told him the house was empty. He said the owners have told him to come here in the past and the house has been occupied, however, holiday tenants had let him continue to paint. I expressed that I was not going to be one of those people and I though it was incredibly disrespectful to action maintenance works on a property that was being occupied. I manage property myself, and these works should be done in winter or when the house is empty. If the works need to be carried out in the summer months, then the owners should book a week from the website to do this work and should absolutely not be done when the property has been paid for. It’s incredibly rude, self-serving, selfish and unprofessional. I was not going to ask my friends children to stop playing and to avoid the wet walls of a house when they have paid a lot of money for the use of this house for a holiday stay, it’s a completely ridiculous expectation, I was absolutely shocked. The gentleman thanked me for the conversation, shook my hand and left. Just over an hour later, after getting out of the shower, I noticed yet another van parked outside the house, with the boot open and two men walking towards the house with window cleaning equipment. My two friends were in the garden in bikinis with their naked infant children playing in the garden. Now, this was not only personally very triggering for me, but was an absolutely inappropriate situation to find us in. I was not informed about these men coming, I don’t know if they’ve been DBS checked, I have no idea who these men are. Now, after rushing across the road post shower to have yet another confrontation. I found myself half naked, talking to two much older men, one of which was very old, the other, quite aggressive in his facial expression and stance. I expressed to these men that we were paying customers in the house and we don’t want any non-priority maintenance work happening on the house whilst we stay there. To which I was met with distain and a lack of understanding. The younger man made it very clear he was going to continue with the cleaning of the windows and I left. I had to watch my friends and their children enter the house on a sunny day and draw the blinds whilst these men cleaned the windows. I felt completely disrespected, unheard and invalidated for asking these men to leave. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. We shouldn’t have to censor what we do around complete strangers whilst staying in a rented holiday home. I was absolutely disgusted that not only these works had been booked in on a week that it was occupied but that were not warned these works were going ahead. Also, when trying to stop the works from continuing, I was met with quite frankly, an aggressive reaction from one of the men (the older man was actually very sweet and didn’t say anything.) These works should not only be happening, and most importantly, I should not have had to have these confrontational conversations when I’m on holiday. I was supposed to be relaxing with my friends and quite frankly, I did not enjoy my remaining days of my holiday last week, it put me in quite a sad and deflated state of mind. I had to spend the whole of Monday on my won, away from my friends managing my own emotions surrounding the feelings that were evoked from these circumstances and interactions. I expect either a full or partial refund for this stay and a personal apology via email from the owners of this property. I will not be booking this house again.

  • "Be aware , serious Damp/ Mould problems!"

On walls and furniture in bedrooms . We stayed over at half term , major building works ongoing at adjacent properties. Unable to use balcony due to noise of diggers , Tractors , excavators. Blocked in on driveway by builders and industrial vehicles on a daily basis . Work on going all day from 8.30 every morning. Be aware of health issues related to mould and damp !!!!

We have read your review and take it very seriously. So much so that we came to inspect the house ourselves although Sykes provide a fully managed booking and maintenance service on our behalf. They are available 24/7. Queries of this nature should be raised with Sykes at the time so that they may attend to them. Sykes have not received any contact or photos of anything you mention. There is nothing to see from our inspection of the property. The house had been painted, carpets cleaned and a thorough deep clean undertaken at the beginning of the season before your stay. The property is bright and fresh. We cannot see any construction activity in the cul de sac. With our very best wishes for future holidays on the Lleyn Peninsula. Property Owner

  • "It was a beautiful, comfortable home."

Very well equipped. Wonderful views. The stairs were a real issue for the 2 little dogs, open plan and bare wood. Looked lovely but we're vert slippery for them. The Pom nearly fell through on the one occasion she tried to get down them. The garden gate didn't close so the garden was not secure , The gate banged very loudly two nights when it was very windy. We did have a wonderful time and was a beautiful space to be together. Thank you

  • "We loved your holiday home and had a fantastic two week stay feeling totally relaxed on our return home."

Erlri is spacious, clean and very well equipped and in an ideal location being near to Abersoch and the many lovely beaches on the Llyn Peninsula. We loved the wooden floors and tasteful modern decor and the views to the back of the property whilst sipping our gin and tonics on the balcony were stunning. Thanks very much for our stay in your beautiful holiday home and we will definitely book again.

  • "Eleri is a lovely house, very comfortable and well-equipped."

When you first get there you think it's a long way out of Abersoch, but once you get your bearings you realise it's great for walking with fab sea views of sea and mountains . We always go out of season and an added bonus this time was the smartTV where you could activate your own Netflix etc. This part of Wales is really lovely.

Thank you for your review, I'm glad you had a great time in Abersoch. We will look forward to welcoming you back to Eleri again in the future. Property Owner

  • "The whole place needs a good clean and clear out , so many items that are not working or games not complete , all beach items in the garage are dirty , the barbeque is disgusting and unusable cushions and seat covers in main room dirty and need replacing ,radio downstairs has no plug lead so no power , radio upstairs will not work so useless , mould in both bathrooms on ceiling , shower tiles all mouldy , bath leaks ."

.. i could go on but after reporting to Menia holidays they didn't seem interested , also an issue with the downstairs lights that blew a fuse part way through the week so be warned , we did have a fantastic holiday all the same and would visit this town again ,

  • "Stayed with family, great little set up."

Great facilities plus beach umbrellas, wind breakers to borrow in the garage we’re great. Views from the balcony were gorgeous! All rooms had plenty of space, upstairs was open living. TV could have been better, was just a standard tv but thats only me being picky. Smart TV would have been good for the kids and to connect your Netflix too etc for an evening. Only a 3min drive down the beach or a 15min walk…. Be aware VERY steep hill down though. We always took the kids and grandparents down in the car with our beach stuff. Walk into Abersoch was about 30mins on average. Great place to stay for a family holiday, we loved it!

  • "Great property, comfortable and excellent views from upstairs living area ."

It was nice to have towels provided but would have been even better if the listing hadn’t repeatedly said ‘NO towels provided’! A few courtesy items would have given it 5 stars like a roll of loo paper in each bathroom along with a hand towel and some soap . The kitchen needs oven gloves too . It’s very well stocked otherwise and I would happily return for another stay ( this was our second)

  • "We had a great stay here."

Property nice an dairy: weather was sunny but very windy but it was May... Walked from house to Porth Ceiriad and then around coastal path to St Tudwal's where we watched gannets diving for fish: amazing. Ended walk with refreshments at Porth Tocyn Hotel with a great sea view. Porth Tocyn Hotel is well worth a visit. Eleri is in a great location with short walk to Abersoch beach and lovely views to fields at the rear of the property where the balcony is. Ate at the Twynti and Potted Lobster: both were excellent. Hope to be back again.

After parking in one of the in-demand off-road spaces, make your way inside to head to bed after a fun-packed day in one of the ground-floor’s bedrooms.

After relieving yourself of your coats and boots in the porch, make your way into the king-size room, a room showcasing fabulous furnishing, a full-length mirror and storage for your things, or head to bed in the delightful double room, a space benefiting from its own CD Player, ample storage and views over the peninsula’s rolling hills; the little ones or extra guests can choose between resting in the single room that features an extra pull-out bed or a delightful bunk room that contains its own basin and light-up mirror.

The ground-floor also hosts a bathroom, with a bath for you to relax your muscles in after a day filled with walking and cycling along the coast; the first floor contains a shower room where you can enjoy a rejuvenating rinse in the walk-in shower.

After savouring a well-deserved rest, head upstairs to the vibrant kitchen where its high-gloss fittings contain a plethora of appliances for you to rustle up a hearty breakfast with, to be enjoyed at the close-by breakfast bar as a quick treat or at the living/dining room’s large dining table.

The living/dining room is a light and airy space, thanks to its numerous windows, where you can unwind in its selection of seating in front of the multi-fuel stove and Freeview TV and put on your favourite DVD to enjoy some quality time.

The room opens out to a spacious balcony, where you can switch on the CD player so you can listen to those faint tunes as you unwind in the sun; the balcony truly captivates those elevated views of the country with its glass panelling, making for a delightful relaxation spot.

The rear garden not only boasts a lawn for the kids and your furry friend to play on, but is served by two patio areas for you to savour a spot of alfresco dining.

About the location

ABERSOCH

Pwllheli 6 miles.

The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
