"Ten of us stayed here in June 2026 and, despite having a wonderful week with our family and getting married during our stay, there were several significant issues that prevent us from giving a higher rating."
The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views across the Menai Strait, and the property itself has many positives. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, the tennis court is a great addition, and the fire pit provided some lovely evenings. We also enjoyed exploring the local area, with friendly locals, excellent restaurants, lovely shops and plenty to do nearby.
The biggest disappointment was the hot tub. This was one of the features that attracted us to the property, but despite following the instructions carefully and spending over £30 on fuel, it never became properly hot. At best it reached lukewarm. The tub also had no cover, making it very difficult to retain any heat. We spent many hours trying to get it working as advertised, including after maintenance attended, but it remained unusable. Given that previous reviews appear to have raised similar concerns, this was particularly frustrating.

"The most beautiful setting, house stunning, so well equipped everything you could need was there."
Only small moan the outside balcony wasn’t cleaned so we needed to sweep it, there was no shade umbrella's etc, also the hot tub fire wasn’t cleaned out so full of ash etc.
All 10 of us had the best time, couldn’t recommend it more. So peaceful didn’t want to leave,

"This is an absolutely fabulous destination."
The house has been updated to an incredibly high spec and the island setting is second to none.
We had no problem with the hot tub - just needs around 3 to 4 hours to get up to temp and then easily regulated with the cold water tap.
The house proved to be the perfect venue for my wife’s 50th - there were eleven of us for a long weekend and couldn’t have been any better.
Ps The Victoria Hotel close by did us proud for our Sunday lunch - would recommend

"The property was gorgeous."
The views were amazing and the accommodation was perfect. Our family really enjoyed experiencing a tidal property and we were all endlessly fascinated at watching the Menai Strait.
No problems with the property. We bought a broom since we could not find one and I replaced a cafetiere which I broke (sorry). We did not always have hot baths even though the house was a long way below capacity. But none of this troubled us.
One of our number is worried he left his keys in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Could someone check whether they are there please? We appreciate we will have to pay for them to be sent to us.

"This property could be absolutely perfect but you really need to look at the functioning of the hot tub."
As other reviews have reflected, even after hours and hours of diligently following instructions we achieved merely tepid temperatures. And it was very mild weather when we visited. We have extensive experience of log burners and even log burning hot tubs, and have never had this issue before. Something is wrong here.
Either the heater is inadequate for its purpose
Or Needs a maintenance check. Frustratingly trying and failing to get the hot tub to work for significant portions of our break (and failing to be able to use it all on 2 of our 3 days) marred an otherwise idyllic stay for us. It was pretty heartbreaking having wasted so much time and effort on a failed venture and looking longingly at what could be intel of the world’s best located hot tubs out of action.
the hot tub had been a major selling point to the property to us. We literally searched for properties with hot tubs in Anglesey. It seemed reasonable value with this facility and immediately became less reasonably priced in our minds without it working. Please fix this issue so we can justify a return visit!
Smaller niggles: the tap in one of the downstairs bathrooms is mounted too low making it very difficult to use the sink properly.
And the screws holding the latches on the glass terrace gates kept coming loose, causing the latches to fall off and require a fiddly reattachment.
Also I really think an extractor fan is required in the kitchen for days it is too cold or windy to have the doors open.
On the positive side the tennis court was amazing and such a special location. And generally the island vibe of this place and spectacular views are pretty hard to beat. The property is tastefully furnished/decorated and incredibly well equipped. Including plenty of wine glasses and two dishwashers!
This really could be a 5 star property if the hot tub issue is sorted out and the minor niggles addressed.

"Not enough wine glasses, not enough dinner plates (for 12 guests)."
Only half the toaster worked and the hot tub never got hot enough despite 7 hours of continual heat that was extremely laborious. Such a shame as this is a 5 star venue let down by easily fixable shortcomings.

"A lovely weeks stay at Ynys Faelog."
The house is beautiful and very well decorated. Plenty of space for our party of 7 adults, a baby and 2 dogs. The outdoor space was perfect for our dogs to roam and explore.
A few issues:
- the kitchen doesn’t appear to have an extractor fan. This caused a problem whenever we cooked on the hob (which was daily). This in turn set off the smoke alarms. This was a real nuisance as not only did we have a young baby who was awoken by the alarm, we had to have the patio doors open after cooking to waft any smoke away. This would have been ok in summer but it was winter when we have stayed and cold. We had elderly people in our party so it wasn’t really ideal. We did call Sykes half way through our stay to ask where the extractor fan was (we worried it was something obvious we were missing) they promised to contact us back once speaking with the owner but we never heard. This seems to be quite a major design fault.
- the kitchen lacks some basic cooking equipment, measuring jugs and casserole dishes to make things such as a lasagne for example
-if you are using the travel cot provided you need to take your own mattress for it. The mattress with the cot is more of a lining for the bottom and it’s very hard and thin - Definetly not suitable for a little one to sleep
-the main bathroom shower did not drain well - which one day almost flooded the hallway. We did find the plug hole was full of hair and gunge.
- the master on suite shower was really really cold. The heating thermostat on the outside would only let this be turned up to 17 degrees. Again, unsure if this would be warm if it had been the summer
One other issue was that there was no direct number to contact the owner to ask basic questions such as these. There was also no message owner facility on the app. All queries had to be called through to Sykes direct which wasn’t ideal and as noted above, we didn’t get a resolution

"We had an amazing weekend, the house is beautiful and decorated to a high standard."
The only issue was the difficulty in warming up the hot tub and we were unable to use it despite our efforts on two nights.
Stunning location but difficult to access with a wheelchair when the tide was high .

Would recommend owners deal with another let company …….one that operates on a more personal level and doesn’t send emails during the stay which if they answered their phone more could have been dealt with before arrival .

"We absolutely loved staying at this property and everything was perfect."
There were two things we would like to feedback though:
The absence of any kind of folder with key information in about the property and its amenities presents some challenges. For example knowing how to turn the heating off and how to operate the hot tub. It would be in the owners interests from a sustainability perspective to provide this info.
Secondly we were very surprised to find the late one night the footpath which is supposedly accessible at all time was submerged with the tide. Perhaps due to a full moon it was an exceptionally high tide. Nonetheless it is advertised as accessible at all times via footpath. We had 2 friends who had come for dinner and were unable to get off the island that night and had to stay to 5am. I appreciate that your listing wouldn’t want to give the impression it’s not accessible but again if there were a folder of key information it could be noted that occasional exceptional high tides may mean the footpath is inaccessible

"We enjoyed our stay here, the house was beautiful with stunning views, and was well equipped."
The beds were comfy, lovely furniture, and the house was cozy and warm. The house itself was very clean, however the hot tub unfortunately was not. We had no pre warning that the tub was drained and the expectation was to fill it. This wasn’t really as issue as it filled quickly, but we did have to clean it before use as it hadn’t been done, something I don’t expect to have to do given the cost of the holiday home. I also had issues locating the hot tub starter pack. We waited for assistance from the house keeper for a few hours, and when I called to chase up, was directed to wood which had been left in the rain and was no use. I purchased logs, kindling and fire lighters myself. After our holiday I was told if I had receipts then I would be reimbursed. Had I known this before and not after the holiday, I would have kept them. The property itself was immaculate, and I could not fault the cleaning inside. I understand how difficult it must be to clean such a large home in a short space of time, and credit where it’s due, it was spotless inside. Reading a previous review, I agree the house would benefit from a manual , we muddled through just fine but normally expect a go to guide on how to use the appliances, hot tub, Wi-Fi etc. I did query this and was sent a link on the use of the wood fired hot tub which was great, but again, it would save visitors time if this info were readily available. We enjoyed our stay, and had it not been for the handling of the some of the above raised, would probably have booked again for our annual Christmas holiday as it was a lovely house. As a regular customer with Sykes, I’m disappointed.
