It was as comfortable as last year and it’s in a perfect location for an enjoyable visit to Wales

  • "The bungalow was very clean and tidy."

The kettle lid was broken but had been reported by the previous guest, as such I would have expected it to be replaced, it had a thick layer of hard limescale and as the lid was broken it couldn't be cleaned. Previous reviews mentioned the shower which was a bit on the small size, but I think the biggest issue is the sliding door, very tight to squeeze in if you are a little on the large size, a shower with a pivot door might have been better, if one exists! Maybe knocking the wall out between the toilet and the shower room would solve 2 problems, sink near the toilet and larger shower! All in all Ollie(pooch)and I had a nice week, weather wasn't always kind but we enjoyed our break. Just one other thing, it's a shame the patio doors were replaced with a window as this didn't give direct access to the garden for the dog, it was a bit of a pain having to go out through the front door and then the garden gate at the side of the garage.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback and we are glad that you had an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately the kettle issue wasn't passed on to us by Sykes so we were unaware - our apologies for this. It has now been replaced. The shower cubicle access is proving tricky for some, but it is a standard size. Whilst knocking out a wall may seem an ideal solution, this would be a huge expense and would take the property out of action for some time (we have regular bookings). We also feel that having a separate toilet and bathroom does suit guests with families well. The French doors have been recently removed from the lounge to enable a better use of the space in the property; the kitchen window is next to be replaced and this will be with a French door (hopefully during 2024). However, this week, new gates have been fitted to the driveway side of the house, meaning if they are closed, the driveway area will now be an additional enclosed space for dogs, which can be accessed easily from the main door. We are glad you found the bungalow clean and comfortable and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Jayne and John Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay in a lovely property nice size , nice garden at back secure in a nice location ,and the road was so quiet."

Couldn't fault it. I had to contact agent about a little issue really minor just a broken clip on kettle as we were told to report anything in instructions and we got a response straight away very impressive It was so lovely we have already booked to come back next year as its perfect for a walk to beach with the dog just lovely full stop.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback - it means a lot to us as we have been working hard to make changes and upgrades over this last year. It is a really beautiful part of the world and we are so glad that you'll be joining us again next year. (Thank you also for reporting the issue with the kettle - unfortunately this wasn't passed on to us by Sykes, so we will follow this up with them for future issues) Best wishes, Jayne and John Property Owner

  • "The property is lovely."

My only issue is that the shower is not suitable for larger people to get in to. My granddaughter came with us and she is autistic. She loved the basketball net, and enjoyed being able to play in the back yard. Sorry, I should have said, the mattress in the single room needs replacing. It's quite uncomfortable.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Jayne and John Property Owner

  • "Good location for golf course and beach."

Clean and comfortable accommodation. We agreed with the shortcomings mentioned in previous reviews but more importantly the front facing bedrooms need privacy from the street. We couldn’t open the curtains in the morning for fear of displaying ourselves for all to see. Maybe some blinds would be helpful. Thanks

Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location of the bungalow, and found it clean and comfortable. We are always looking for ways to improve the customer's experience of the property and will take on board your comments. The area is very quiet and the property on a side road, so the lack of blinds has never been an issue for us (we spend several weeks in the property each year). We tend to draw the curtains when privacy is needed. Thank you, John and Jayne Property Owner

  • "On arrival at the Bungalow we were very disappointed with the state of the front door step and particularly the patio windows which were foggy all around the edge and created a very poor first impression."

The inside was as photograph but we found the windows all difficult to open. Under the sink and inside main wardrobe was a shambles due to untidy storage. The separate WC I believe should have a wash basin. The outside space is a not very pleasant paved area not a patio.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the property, as we work hard to ensure all of our guests have an enjoyable stay. PATIO DOOR HAS NOW BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH A LARGE WINDOW. We provide cleaning equipment which is kept under the sink should guests need to use anything during their stay. The main wardrobe has additional cushions, DVD's and games and a fan - all of which we feel may be useful to guests during their stay. We can only apologise that this may not have been put back tidily. The WC would ideally have a wash basin - this is something we will look to add in the future, but the handbasin is just next door as shown in the photographs. The windows are mostly 'tilt and turn' style, with instructions of how to do this, as they may not be familiar to everyone. We have recently added lighting and trellis to the garden, which has garden furniture, a parasol and is secure for those with children or dogs. The pictures of the garden are accurate and reflect that it is a suntrap and it is very difficult to grow anything when we are not around to maintain the garden to a high standard. The garden has lovely views over the surrounding hillside and has a traditional Welsh slate wall which we feel is a particular feature. It is large, flat and secure which we feel suits the needs of many guests. Once again, we are sorry that you were disappointed with the first impression of the bungalow. We take on board all comments and change things where we can. I trust that you found the area to be welcoming and attractive and managed to enjoy some time on Black Rock Sands. • "We found the bungalow with no problems."

However, I was concerned as my husband is disabled and fell at the French doors, causing major bruising. There is a large step down from the French doors. I fell going down and cut my leg and ankle open. The shower is a problem. The head does not sit securely and fell down multiple times. I am coming back in 7 weeks time, and hope these problems have been rectified.

EDIT - THE PATIO DOOR HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A LARGE PICTURE WINDOW. THE SHOWER HEAD HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED. We are happy that you returned to our property again (July 23) and had an improved experience. We take all feedback on board and are constantly working to improve things for our guests. . We hope you can join us again next year. Best wishes, Jayne and John Property Owner

  • "The property is in a great location with a sunny back yard area, everything was sufficient, well maintained and worked as expected my only suggestions for immediate improvement as opposed to the communicated longer term, would be to replace the tv in the bedroom with a larger and simpler operated model, and to provide loungers for the yard area, the yard area is quite austere and could do with the garage wall’s breaking up with trellis and planters (even if false), but fully fenced and secure, an enjoyable stay."

    thank you

EDIT June 23 - we have now replaced the tv in the main bedroom with a new, SMART tv which we hope will be easier to operate. We have also added some lighting and trellis to the garden which we feel makes the space more attractive. Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay at the bungalow and it met your needs well. We always try and respond to customer feedback, so thank you for your suggestions. We will look to replace the tv in the bedroom as soon as we are able to - we are limited for space in there but will aim to get something bigger that will fit in the space. We are due to visit the bungalow in the coming weeks for maintenance, so will look to pretty the garden up a little whilst we are there. We have always found the space to be functional and it works well for those with children and pets, but we recognise it could be prettier. Thank you again, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future Property Owner

  • "Slightly disappointed with the bungalow as it does need updating."

We were very concerned about the metal gate stop situated in the middle of the drive (there were no gates) having read the review of the lady who had fallen over it minutes after she had arrived. It would appear that nothing has been done about removing it. The outside space is very dull and needs some thought and the step in and out is quite high. Our biggest gripe being the shower which is so small not much room to move about. We are not big people and we struggled. The area is lovely and people very friendly.

EDIT - THE PATIO DOOR HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A LARGE PICTURE WINDOW. THE OLD GATE HAS BEEN REPLACED . Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the property. For clarity, the metal cleat in the driveway is a functional part of the gate - the gate posts were recently damaged and had to be removed (along with the gate, so the driveway could be accessed fully) and are awaiting being rebuilt. *The gate cleat has now been removed * The previous guests comments about her fall are being discussed/reviewed as they were factually inaccurate. As for the outside space, the garden is a suntrap and is exposed to a lot of sun for most of the day. We have tried to grow things in pots but without daily watering, this has been unsuccessful. The garden is hard landscaped (as per the photographs) and suits people with children and pets, due to it being flat and easy to clean. We need it to be low maintenance due to us not living nearby. We have considered the additional cost of employing a gardener but this would make the cost of the property higher. We have always tried to ensure it's priced fairly to attract a wide range of potential guests. As for the shower - it is a standard size cubicle. A bigger shower cubicle would not fit in the space. We are glad that you enjoyed the lovely area - it is a very pretty place, that we hope you may visit again in the future. EDIT June 23 - the metal cleat has now been removed from the driveway, whist we are waiting the gate posts being rebuilt. The patio doors in the lounge are being replaced early July which we feel will create a more contemporary look to the bungalow. We have also recently added some new furniture and will be redecorating some areas in July. The step in/out of the lounge is within permitted height to meet damp course regulations - however we have now added a hi-vis strip to make it more visible. Once the patio door is replaced, the step will no longer be an issue. We have now added lighting and trellis to the garden which we feel makes the space prettier. Property Owner

  • "Overall stay was very nice and was local to lots of amenities, beaches and hills for the dog to run around , good location to local town Porthmadog 7 minute driver or 30 min walk local everyday shops near by."

Bungalow was very clean and well present! Only negative would be that the bungalow does need updating inside very old fashion looking and dated ,maybe upgrade the sky tv to newer box as current one is very slow and remote does not seem to work properly when changing Channels but overall we had a nice week in this bungalow and would stay here again 100% hopefully it will be a bit more modern looking next time we choose to visit but overall it has everything you need to stay there for a few days !

EDIT - THE PROPERTY HAS UNDERGONE A PROGRAMME OF UPDATING, INCLUDING THE LOUNGE AND KITCHEN, GARDEN, LOUNGE WINDOW AND RIVEWAY GATES. IT NOW HAS A DISHWASHER, AIRFRYER AND TASSIMO MACHINE. Many thanks for your feedback - we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As mentioned in the Welcome folder, we are in the process of updating some areas within the bungalow, including replacing a window and adding a dishwasher. This can be tricky to schedule due to the frequency of bookings. We decided to keep the property neutral and bright to appeal to the widest possible market, which we feel is reflected in the photographs. The tv is a SMART tv so allows for Netflix etc, plus customers use of NOW tv account so we only have the basic Sky package in the house. Whilst the Sky box is an older model, it is functional should you wish to watch the Sky channels. We do hope to welcome you back to our home in the future Property Owner

The property needs a bit of updating, but, despite that it's comfortable and clean. There was everything we needed for our stay, but, it would have been nice to have a dishwasher. On the other hand the cooker is old, but, very simple to use and does the job wonderfully ( don't fix that it's not broken) Outside the patio is uninsipiring, but, if you have a dog it's fine. All in all not much to complain about

  • "Really enjoyable quiet break , great location with 2 minutes walk to Black Rock sandunes and beach our dogs favourite place, in Jan most of local facilities closed for winter."

Friendly neighbours even put our rubbish out before I had a chance to ☺️. Great location within easy reach of Porthmadog Harbour and shops , Harlech Castle , and great walks around Beddgellert. Safety wise I would advise providing shower mat and grill pan handle .

Thank you so much for your kind feedback - we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in North Wales. We do not provide towels, except for the bath mat, which should have been at the property. Our apologies for this - we will contact the cleaning company to ensure they are replaced with each clean. As for the grill pan handle, there should be one in the kitchen drawer. We will endeavour to locate/replace it as soon as we can. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope you choose our home again in the future. Property Owner
