  • "We loved the bungalow and location."

It was warm and welcoming and well maintained with everything we needed for our stay. If we were to be pressed hard for anything that we found not to our liking it would be the beds only because we are tall and found them quite small for us. Also the back gate is hard to close and doesn’t stay shut during the day when we were out - but this is being hypercritical! It is a lovely place and we would always consider returning as love the area and visit whenever we can. Please thank the owners for providing such a lovely place to stay.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback - we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We would love to welcome you back in the future. Thank you for making us aware about the gate - we'll arrange for an adjustment to the latch as soon as we can. With best wishes, Jayne and John Property Owner

The bungalow has everything you need and is dog friendly and you can see the love and care put into this home ,there was a couple of welcome bags with tea, coffee and washing pods etc and a lovely welcoming note from the owners , there are gates on the drive this year which is a great idea and extra security and is a short walk away from blackrock sands which was ideal for our dog . We literally cannot fault this place and we have already booked again for next year and can't wait to come back

Thank you so much for your kind review - we love it when customers return, as it really helps us to know that we are getting it right. Can't wait to welcome you back next year! Jayne and John Property Owner

  • "Lovely bungalow, spotlessly clean and every facility in the kitchen."

Good location, although further from the beach than we realised, 2 mile drive and then £8.00 to park the car on the beach. Borth y gest lovely but beach not accessable for the disabled. Would recommend this bungalow , ideal in every way. Thank you to owners for making this a lovely bungalow.

Thank you so much for your kind review - we’re so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We calculated the distance to the beach as a walking distance (just over half a mile/approximately 10 mins walk), but you are right that it id a longer distance to drive. The beach access for cars is a little further away than the pedestrian route. It’s one of the few beaches where you are still able to drive on to the beach, which can be convenient for people. We have included a ‘short cut’ route to the beach for pedestrians in our welcome guide. Best wishes, Jayne and John Property Owner

Well positioned. If staying with young children the only thing we missed was a child's high chair. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you so much for your review - it is much appreciated. Delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We had considered putting a high chair in the property, but were concerned that it may prove difficult to keep hygienic. We will give it further consideration for the future though. The small housing estate is quiet , and with smart well kept dwellings. There's a convenience store and a chippy just 3 or 4 minutes walk away. The bungalow was immaculate and very well set out. 3 bedrooms, and can sleep up to 5 people. The only difficulty was getting the TV to operate via the Sky box. Got it working - eventually . Otherwise, a very nice stay, and we will be re booking at some point in the future. Very well recommended.

  • "The bungalow was very clean and tidy."

The kettle lid was broken but had been reported by the previous guest, as such I would have expected it to be replaced, it had a thick layer of hard limescale and as the lid was broken it couldn't be cleaned. Previous reviews mentioned the shower which was a bit on the small size, but I think the biggest issue is the sliding door, very tight to squeeze in if you are a little on the large size, a shower with a pivot door might have been better, if one exists! Maybe knocking the wall out between the toilet and the shower room would solve 2 problems, sink near the toilet and larger shower! All in all Ollie(pooch)and I had a nice week, weather wasn't always kind but we enjoyed our break. Just one other thing, it's a shame the patio doors were replaced with a window as this didn't give direct access to the garden for the dog, it was a bit of a pain having to go out through the front door and then the garden gate at the side of the garage.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback and we are glad that you had an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately the kettle issue wasn't passed on to us by Sykes so we were unaware - our apologies for this. It has now been replaced. The shower cubicle access is proving tricky for some, but it is a standard size. Whilst knocking out a wall may seem an ideal solution, this would be a huge expense and would take the property out of action for some time (we have regular bookings). We also feel that having a separate toilet and bathroom does suit guests with families well. The French doors have been recently removed from the lounge to enable a better use of the space in the property; the kitchen window is next to be replaced and this will be with a French door (hopefully during 2024). However, this week, new gates have been fitted to the driveway side of the house, meaning if they are closed, the driveway area will now be an additional enclosed space for dogs, which can be accessed easily from the main door. We are glad you found the bungalow clean and comfortable and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Jayne and John Property Owner

Thank you so much for your kind feedback - it means a lot to us as we have been working hard to make changes and upgrades over this last year. It is a really beautiful part of the world and we are so glad that you'll be joining us again next year. My only issue is that the shower is not suitable for larger people to get in to. My granddaughter came with us and she is autistic. Clean and comfortable accommodation. We agreed with the shortcomings mentioned in previous reviews but more importantly the front facing bedrooms need privacy from the street. We couldn’t open the curtains in the morning for fear of displaying ourselves for all to see. Maybe some blinds would be helpful. Thanks

Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location of the bungalow, and found it clean and comfortable. We are always looking for ways to improve the customer's experience of the property and will take on board your comments. The area is very quiet and the property on a side road, so the lack of blinds has never been an issue for us (we spend several weeks in the property each year). We tend to draw the curtains when privacy is needed. Thank you, John and Jayne Property Owner

  • "On arrival at the Bungalow we were very disappointed with the state of the front door step and particularly the patio windows which were foggy all around the edge and created a very poor first impression."

The inside was as photograph but we found the windows all difficult to open. Under the sink and inside main wardrobe was a shambles due to untidy storage. The separate WC I believe should have a wash basin. The outside space is a not very pleasant paved area not a patio.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the property, as we work hard to ensure all of our guests have an enjoyable stay. PATIO DOOR HAS NOW BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH A LARGE WINDOW. We provide cleaning equipment which is kept under the sink should guests need to use anything during their stay. The main wardrobe has additional cushions, DVD's and games and a fan - all of which we feel may be useful to guests during their stay. We can only apologise that this may not have been put back tidily. The WC would ideally have a wash basin - this is something we will look to add in the future, but the handbasin is just next door as shown in the photographs. The windows are mostly 'tilt and turn' style, with instructions of how to do this, as they may not be familiar to everyone. We have recently added lighting and trellis to the garden, which has garden furniture, a parasol and is secure for those with children or dogs. The pictures of the garden are accurate and reflect that it is a suntrap and it is very difficult to grow anything when we are not around to maintain the garden to a high standard. The garden has lovely views over the surrounding hillside and has a traditional Welsh slate wall which we feel is a particular feature. It is large, flat and secure which we feel suits the needs of many guests. Once again, we are sorry that you were disappointed with the first impression of the bungalow. We take on board all comments and change things where we can. I trust that you found the area to be welcoming and attractive and managed to enjoy some time on Black Rock Sands. However, I was concerned as my husband is disabled and fell at the French doors, causing major bruising. There is a large step down from the French doors. I fell going down and cut my leg and ankle open. The shower is a problem. The head does not sit securely and fell down multiple times. I am coming back in 7 weeks time, and hope these problems have been rectified.

EDIT - THE PATIO DOOR HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A LARGE PICTURE WINDOW. THE SHOWER HEAD HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED. We are happy that you returned to our property again (July 23) and had an improved experience. We take all feedback on board and are constantly working to improve things for our guests. . We hope you can join us again next year. Best wishes, Jayne and John Property Owner

  • "The property is in a great location with a sunny back yard area, everything was sufficient, well maintained and worked as expected my only suggestions for immediate improvement as opposed to the communicated longer term, would be to replace the tv in the bedroom with a larger and simpler operated model, and to provide loungers for the yard area, the yard area is quite austere and could do with the garage wall’s breaking up with trellis and planters (even if false), but fully fenced and secure, an enjoyable stay."

    thank you

EDIT June 23 - we have now replaced the tv in the main bedroom with a new, SMART tv which we hope will be easier to operate. We have also added some lighting and trellis to the garden which we feel makes the space more attractive. Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay at the bungalow and it met your needs well. We always try and respond to customer feedback, so thank you for your suggestions. We will look to replace the tv in the bedroom as soon as we are able to - we are limited for space in there but will aim to get something bigger that will fit in the space. We are due to visit the bungalow in the coming weeks for maintenance, so will look to pretty the garden up a little whilst we are there. We have always found the space to be functional and it works well for those with children and pets, but we recognise it could be prettier. • "Slightly disappointed with the bungalow as it does need updating."

We were very concerned about the metal gate stop situated in the middle of the drive (there were no gates) having read the review of the lady who had fallen over it minutes after she had arrived. It would appear that nothing has been done about removing it. The outside space is very dull and needs some thought and the step in and out is quite high. Our biggest gripe being the shower which is so small not much room to move about. We are not big people and we struggled. The area is lovely and people very friendly.

EDIT - THE PATIO DOOR HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A LARGE PICTURE WINDOW. THE OLD GATE HAS BEEN REPLACED . Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the property. For clarity, the metal cleat in the driveway is a functional part of the gate -*The gate cleat has now been removed * The previous guests comments about her fall are being discussed/reviewed as they were factually inaccurate. As for the outside space, the garden is a suntrap and is exposed to a lot of sun for most of the day. We have tried to grow things in pots but without daily watering, this has been unsuccessful. The garden is hard landscaped (as per the photographs) and suits people with children and pets, due to it being flat and easy to clean. We need it to be low maintenance due to us not living nearby. We have considered the additional cost of employing a gardener but this would make the cost of the property higher. We have always tried to ensure it's priced fairly to attract a wide range of potential guests. As for the shower - it is a standard size cubicle. A bigger shower cubicle would not fit in the space. We are glad that you enjoyed the lovely area - it is a very pretty place, that we hope you may visit again in the future. We have now added lighting and trellis to the garden which we feel makes the space prettier. Property Owner

Bungalow was very clean and well present! Only negative would be that the bungalow does need updating inside very old fashion looking and dated ,maybe upgrade the sky tv to newer box as current one is very slow and remote does not seem to work properly when changing Channels but overall we had a nice week in this bungalow and would stay here again 100% hopefully it will be a bit more modern looking next time we choose to visit but overall it has everything you need to stay there for a few days !

EDIT - THE PROPERTY HAS UNDERGONE A PROGRAMME OF UPDATING, INCLUDING THE LOUNGE AND KITCHEN, GARDEN, LOUNGE WINDOW AND RIVEWAY GATES. IT NOW HAS A DISHWASHER, AIRFRYER AND TASSIMO MACHINE. Many thanks for your feedback - we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As mentioned in the Welcome folder, we are in the process of updating some areas within the bungalow, including replacing a window and adding a dishwasher. This can be tricky to schedule due to the frequency of bookings. We decided to keep the property neutral and bright to appeal to the widest possible market, which we feel is reflected in the photographs. The tv is a SMART tv so allows for Netflix etc, plus customers use of NOW tv account so we only have the basic Sky package in the house. Whilst the Sky box is an older model, it is functional should you wish to watch the Sky channels. We do hope to welcome you back to our home in the future Property Owner
