"Llwyn Gwalch is a lovely, comfortable and beautifully appointed cottage which provides a perfect base for exploring this amazing area."
You really do feel that you’re staying in a home from home. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. However, there are a few health and safety aspects. The windows were all locked with no keys ( no fresh air/ emergency exit) , the fire extinguisher was 13 years old, the steps at the back of the property were very unsafe ( particularly for older visitors) and there was no visible PAT testing on electrical items.
We had to put the bins out which were absolutely full so very heavy, not ideal for older visitors.
I don’t want to dwell on the negatives because the positives totally outweighed them and we would be more than thrilled to return and would like to highly recommend Llwyn Gwalch.
Thank you for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed staying in the cottage but am baffled by some of the comments you have made.
Our home is managed by Sykes who ensure we uphold all H&S legislation. I've just checked the invoice for the BSI Kitemarked FSS 1kg Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher, CE Marked Fire Blanket and First Aid kit that I bought on 14th June 2021. All remain unused, and fire extinguishers have a lifespan of 10-13 years.
We also get the property PAT tested every 18 months - again through Sykes, (we only need to do this every 5 yrs). I'm going to share these documents in the visitors book in the living room to reassure future guests that your comments are not accurate.
We pay for a full housekeeping service so guests don't need to put the bins out, but thank you for doing this.
I'll put a note on the listing to point out that our short-cut to the beach includes steps. Beach road is of course steep as they tend to be, but there is a National trust car park by the beach that can be accessed by car in about 2 minutes so there are options for all.
I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay, but please do make sure that your feedback is factual before you post. What you have written suggests our home is not safe to stay in, in which case why would you also wish to return?
Your comments could be hugely off-putting to future guests, damaging to us and neither true nor fair.

"We loved staying here, the cottage is comfortable, welcoming and crammed full of beautiful art and craft items."
The road to the beach is very steep but we walked there and the coastal path every day, it is a stunning place to explore. There are lots of little surprises for children visiting - toys, games and beach stuff. The internet at the property is very slow which causes the TV to buffer constantly. I recommend taking a chrome cast or similar if you want to watch TV or the property upgrading their internet.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I agree, the wifi in the village seems to have been getting slower and slower recently so we have just upgraded to a full fibre connection.
This is being installed in December 2025 so we will soon have super fast wifi (just in time for Xmas!)

"Having previously stayed at this property we were disappointed to find the property had not been maintained and obviously uninhabited for some time."
No checks had obviously been done before our occupation, cobwebs throughout, weeds growing on the patio and garden generally unkempt, outside bins had not been emptied for a considerable time and then we had an issue with the water stopcock not being turned on properly resulting in low water pressure so shower not working and very limited cold water in the upstairs bathroom. I have an ongoing compensation claim listing other faults with the property which I hope will be settled favourably Case Ref COR-384232-CF. Not a stress free holiday and I was consistently chasing up Sykes to get the shower situation sorted out.
Thank you very much for your feedback, which I was very surprised to receive as our reviews both on the site and in the visitors book have always been ‘outstanding’.
Small issues can arise of course and in the past have tended to be more due to guests not reading the property instructions on how to use facilities rather than issues with the property. Your query about the shower seemed to be dealt with promptly by Sykes as far as we can see, unfortunately as it is an electric shower, altering the controls on the main boiler will have had no effect at all as they are two different systems.
I’m afraid your comment on checks being made to the property is completely inaccurate and more than a little unfair. Prior to each stay and certainly on this occasion the house benefits from a full turnaround from the housekeeping team who fully prepare the house for guests, complete a full clean, make up the beds, make sure the water is hot, put the heating on if necessary, and check for any damage from the last guests. Sykes also confirmed that the gardener had been to the property immediately before your stay.
I am very sorry that you did not have a relaxing stay, and am currently investigating each point you have raised with Sykes to ensure the various services we have been paying for meet the required standards. Once they have come back to me I will be in a position to come back to you and complete this process. Once again, apologies that your stay was not as expected, and I hope that we can conclude this for you satisfactorily

"We enjoyed an excellent stay."
We know Morfa Nefyn well from previous stays so really appreciated the easy access to the beach via the back garden gate.
Our only two minor issues were that the lock on the inner front door became very sticky. We did try and ease it with WD40 but it was still a little temperamental.
Also, in the pink twin bedded room a bed leg was missing but as we didn’t need to use this bed it was not really a problem to us but might be to others.
Thank you for helping us enjoy another lovely stay in Morfa Nefyn.
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you had a great time. We had the bed leg fixed and it broke again so we have now replaced the bed. Glad this didn't affect your stay.

The garden is private and lovely to sit in. Great location for the beach, easy walking distance.
I would be very happy to return, and hopefully I will later in the year!

"Lovely cottage, great location."
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. It’s in a fantastic location, so close to the beach and very handy for exploring the area. It’s wonderfully quiet and relaxing.
There were a few negatives:
The main bed was not made up when we arrived and we felt it was too late to contact the agent. It was sorted out very quickly the next day.
One of the reasons we chose this property was for the the smart tv listed but the internet connection wasn’t strong enough for us to use our streaming services.
The Places to Eat section in the welcome book would benefit from an update; at least two of the places recommended have closed down.
All that aside, I would happily recommend this property.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share feedback, and I'm happy to hear you loved the cottage! I'm so sorry to hear the main bed wasn't made up on your arrival! I will take this up with the housekeeper as I can't imagine why this was left off the turnaround.
Despite the location, we have never issues with the internet connection in the cottage, I work on the (dreaded) Zoom happily from the cottage all the time and we bought the Smart TV specifically to cosy up with Netflix, and Amazon Prime in front of the fire in the Winter months, so I can only imagine there was a temporary issue with the area, but I'm very sorry you couldn't stream as planned.
Re the places to eat, the chip shop in the village was renovated during the off-season, and the Ship Inn in Edern recently changed hands so was closed for a little while. Both are back for the 2023 season.
I'm so glad to hear that you would happily recommend the cottage.

"We found the cottage very clean, the kitchen stocked with everything you would want, a great goody bag to greet us and the furniture and presentation lovely and homely - the outside picture does not do it justice."
Just a few minutes walk from the back gate to the beach, an absolutely brilliant location. However there were 2 issues (ignoring the fact the electrics were switched off on arrival so the heating and fridge were not up to speed - to be fair Sykes dealt with this immediately and could not be faulted). The shower was very feeble (if that's a village wide problem with pressure there's not much can be done), and it went from cold to scalding with just a minor touch of the dial. Secondly the listing said the garden was secure which it wasn't - I could walk through the gaps in the hedge so our dog had no problem which was really annoying as it was 1 of the main reasons to pick the place - this description should be removed. Would definitely recommend, but not to those with pets.
Thank you for your feedback, and I'm so happy to hear you loved the cottage and the proximity to the beach.
Just in case you come back again, the shower does have a few settings which can be accessed on the head, one is definitely pathetic, but the others are all good. As there is no gas in the village the shower is electric, and electric showers all seem to go through a hot blast as they turn on, but quickly find the temperature required.
The garden is described as enclosed on the description which I do think is accurate. I wouldn't describe it as secure as the perimeter is hedging rather than walls/fences
I'm glad to hear that your queries on arrival were dealt with faultlessly by Sykes.
