Maybe provide more scatter cushions to save moving them about from dining seats to sofas. Bus service was great, no need to move cars all week. Not a lot of storage space in some rooms, not many mirrors. A appeared a bit mean to only provide one loo roll per toilet, no extras!

The kitchen layout lent itself to allow for stress free collaborative cooking; thanks to the owner and/or previous guests for culinary gifts. The accommodation is well placed to encourage runs, walks, adventures and visits to local, and further afield, attractions. The icing on the cake were the stupendous views. People do complain about the weather, however in these surroundings you can’t help to make your own sunshine

Owner Caroline greeted us and gave us details about where to visit, also left local books to read. We were a party of 13 ( family of 4 over from Australia) and it was great to see all my grandchildren together. Plenty of space and kitchen was well equipped. Grandchildren loved the games room and piano. It was also handy to have use of the laundry room. We didn’t get round to using the sauna - perhaps next time. Views were stunning. Thank you Diane

  • "For our group issues with the 2 sets of stairs from the bedroom area to living area."

We believe to all comers there should be proper hand rails on both sides of the stairs. The gates provided should open outwards not towards the stairs as this is difficult especially if you are carrying things. There should be a gate at the bottom of the stairs to mezzanine. Whilst you are dog friendly there is no way / where you can let your dog out on its own. No gated area not even the veranda. The wicker expanding gate was of little use. The building its self is beautiful along with the views. The beds were all comfortable . Kitchen equipment was good . Ventilation was an issue windows in living area don’t open to high for a pole to open skylights and no remote to open / close. Caretaker suggested opening both downstairs doors and upstairs to create a through draught . Downstairs slam closed, upstairs was ok but I had to have dog on lead wrapped around my leg to prevent him disappearing. Caretaker offered a large fan which never appeared. Fun in the games room with table tennis. Didn’t use the sauna. Entry & departure fine with key safe. Times were reasonable . Owner approachable, caretakers next door very friendly and easy to contact.

Hello, I'm so sorry you had trouble with the stairs. They are the original Chapel staircases to what used to be the gallery. We wanted to use them in the architecture of the building because they are made by craftsmen of that era and are of the very best quality of craftsmanship and materials. The treads have an easy going (i.e they are not steep). In the property description it is mentioned that the chapel is not a bungalow and that therefore the bedrooms are not all on the same level as the living/kitchen/dining, apart from one bedroom, which we had made on that level for people who are not very mobile (ambulant bedroom). With respect to the stairgates, I had these recently made out of original timbers by the local joiner. We wanted to have proper wooden fixed gates instead of flimsy shop-bought ones which previous guests found a bit difficult to open since they normally require two hands, one to press a button and one to lift the handle. There is another child stairgate for the mezzanine floor in the cloakroom, but guests are required to put that in place themselves if they need it. It is a pity that you didn't find any of the lovely footpaths all around the chapel. The area is wonderful for dogwalking with many paths starting right outside the property. I'll mention to the caretakers that they should have brought you the promised fan since the weather was unusually beautiful, hot and sunny for that time of the year in Wales. Also, we could have provided you with a wedge or something to keep the downstairs door from slamming shut. I'm sorry about the above inconveniences and hope that they didn't spoil your holiday! Best wishes, Caroline Property Owner

  • "Amazing property in a fantastic location."

The views from the living area were breathtaking. The property managers were extremely helpful and friendly. The only thing that would have improved the stay would have been table seating at the front rather than just benches (which had seen better days) and a gate at the front to make it secure for small children and dogs, neither of these small points impinged on a brilliant holiday.

  • "I need to start by saying this is a very attractive and comfortable property in a beautiful remote setting, yet within easy reach of most of the major attractions and sights."

The facilities are excellent. Most, not all, of the bedrooms are very well equipped and comfortable, the lounge is very comfortable, the huge dining table a joy and the games room is excellent. However, we were only a group of nine - it sleeps sixteen - and the hot water and heating was a disgrace. We accept that it operates air-source heat pumps and its Green credentials attracted us to the property. However, during our stay we were without regular hot water and heating (not such a problem) for over four days. I have to say that the owner responded pretty much by return when we reported the issues, but it wasn't until day six that we were able to really enjoy hot water on a regular basis. The local caretaker said that they had been experiencing problems with it for some months. He tried to reset it on several occasions, but only succeeded at the end when he consulted some instructions. If issues had been know about the system then an engineer, as we requested on numerous occasions, should have been sent out immediately, especially as we were told that there was a service plan in place with Mitsubishi. I can't say that it totally spoilt the holiday, but boiling kettles to wash and shave for a group of nine was no fun, if we had wanted that experience then we could have gone camping. So that is the negative that needs to be rectified, but it is a beautiful and well-equipped property with stunning views. It just needs to have the hot water and heating issues sorted.

The kids loved the games room and movie nights were enjoyed by all, with us spread over the enormous sofa. • "What a fabulous place!"

As you go in it’s just “Wow!” It’s a converted chapel so I expected it to be chilly. Not at all. It’s been renovated to a high standard and we were never cold even at the end of the week when snow was falling. I wanted a place big enough to accommodate family and friends for my 70th birthday celebration and I have to say it was the best birthday ever. There were plenty of beds and 2 cots and high chairs and all bedrooms were en suite. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed including a coffee-maker and dish-washer. The games room was great but we didn’t try the sauna. We did use the laundry facilities: two good washing machines and 2 driers. The location was a little tricky for some of us to find but once there, there are plenty of footpaths to explore and despite the remoteness there is a lovely café a short walk away. It’s not far to Llanberis or Caernarfon for shops and we did visits to the Hidden Gardens of Cadnant, Portmerion and Anglesey. Plenty to do and see. If you come with toddlers, be aware that there are two down staircases off the main area which are hard, shiny wood. Stair gates are provided but we struggled with them and it was a bit of a worry. It was fine for the 4 year old and immobile babies would be safe. Check with the owner, who is lovely and helpful if this is a concern.

It was in a perfect location, and the space worked well for our large family Christmas. We had to mark down the cleanliness of the property as it wasnt too clean. Everything seemed to be covered in a layer of dust were, there was black mould around the rim of the sink, and there was mouldy food left in one of the food waste bins (which we unfortunately didn't find until the end of our stay as we were cleaning to leave-and solved the funky smell we had for the whole stay! One of the bedrooms also had broken glass in the floor and under the bed. There were also quite a few small, but irritating, things broken (toilet seat, door handle to downstairs bedrooms came off, button on the dishwasher kept getting stuck, table tennis table wheels came off). We also struged to get enough hot water for everyone to have a hot shower, and the rain diverted pump was very noise, which disturbed those sleeping every time a tap was turned on or a toilet flushed. This was all raised directly with the host at the time of the stay, but we have had no response.

Amazing views when you look out of the windows. Beds were comfortable and doubles were huge. Having a sauna was a real treat too. We didn't see the children as they occupied themselves in the playroom downstairs, it was their den. What I loved was being able to look out at that lovely scenery when eating at the huge table. You didn't need to get in the car to look for wonderful walks, they were all around you, so many a week didn't cover it. You could do a quarry walk and get amazing views of the lake and there was the woodland walk with so many routes , we did this on our first day and we're amazed to find we were by the lake in no time, on the quarry walk you saw the wild goats up close and high up on a ledge. The only time we left the house was to shop at Caernarfon for the week and to go down to Llanberis for the lake to swim and go kayaking and to climb Snowden. We discovered a little farm just a minute walk to get fresh eggs when the ladies laid, if you phoned through the lovely lady would text you when she'd got enough, all this info was in the welcome pack. Just sitting out front having lunch or a drink or two was wonderfully relaxing which is what we did while the family climbed mountains and swam in water falls and lakes. The owner was a lovely lady very welcoming. This has been the best holiday we have had for everything being on your doorstep , so peaceful at night . The house is set down a quiet country road so not much traffic all you hear is the sound of the wildlife and farm animals. Back home I'm really missing those hills and mountains but thanks to this fabulous holiday home I have so many wonderful memories of fun and laughter with the family as well as wonderful photographs of the fabulous time we had.

Also although there was wifi we could not get any emails or bring up web pages all week. Hot water was also an issue as although it states you do have to be careful when there are 11 people trying to get ready it becomes a problem. The dishwasher also stopped working which I did report but nobody came to sort it out whilst we were there which added to the hot water problem as we had to wash everything up which used a lot of hot water. Last couple of days a lot of s were having cold showers. Great location wouldn't want to be there when snowing as getting out of th lane could be a proble.

Our `gang`, as we like to call ourselves (grey power might be a more accurate description !), has visited many places both in the UK and abroad and yet our accommodation has never been bettered. Thank you as well for the very professional way you have helped us. The members of the `gang` come from all parts of the UK so that descriptions of Capel Dinorwig should be given a wide circulation! We 16 were totally comfortable in the spacious and well organised main living space. We were able to sit and eat together whilst glancing at the surrounding mountains and an occasional view of Snowdon when clouds come and go. We could all relax together in the large sofa area whilst watching photos of the day’s events on the large TV. The bedrooms each with en suite were spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. The family enjoyed the sauna and games rooms and our well behaved dogs enjoyed the trip up and down the open plan but safe stairwells. A tastefully developed Chapel with all the facilities one would wish for in a large family holiday home. Parking for five cars plus was a good bonus. The owners have stocked the property with information, games, maps and recommended places to visit. They were also very obliging and easily contactable when seeking clarity on house details. Llanberis is a 15 minute picturesque ride away also reachable using to local bus service. Blue Peris Mountain Centre is a 4 minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the property who can arrange adventure days for the family. We chose a half day’s outdoor rock climbing and half a day’s combined kayaking; very reasonably priced with equipment and transport included. The building has been renovated to a fantastic standard overall and we were wowed on arrival. One large fridge, a drinks fridge, and a freezer, with plenty of cupboard space, plus two ovens and a microwave. The rooms were very clean and spacious. It’s a great location for walks with beautiful views, and getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and it was straight forward arranging cabs to Caernarfon and Zipworld for the caverns. The space is arranged as such that you don’t feel at all like you’re tripping over each other just by the arrangement of different areas, with the wall containing the amazing wood burner separating the big table and the sofa, plus the downstairs TV room with table tennis, and the sauna was lovely to warm up in after a cold walk. The sound system was great and DVDs and games were supplied which we didn't use (although we brought our own!). A tip for others who have trips planned, bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper and staying with early risers or night owls. The walls and ceilings felt quite thin and people moving about in adjacent or above rooms felt quite loud. The WiFi was suitable just for browsing the internet (streaming was near impossible), but phone signal was great which came as a pleasant surprise. The master bedroom needed a little TLC as there was a hole in the ceiling and the shower door seal was damaged, but I didn’t notice or receive complaints with any of the other rooms. There was great communication with the owners who were happy to answer a text or phone call if necessary, with a forgotten item posted back after our stay. Overall the property was fantastic and I would heartily recommend it to groups looking for a great holiday home in North Wales.

  • "The chapel is gorgeous and the views from it are stunning."

The chapel is so well thought through and everything is catered for, well it was for the 16 of us. We chose to have a mixture of bbqs and cook, all equipment was available and more. We loved it, a bit of luxury for a week. We would recommend the horse riding in Snowdonia, Bounce Below, Go below ( if you are fit!) but the activity we all enjoyed most and would do again was hiring kayaks and paddle boards on Llanberis lake. Kids jumping off the jetty or messing around in the lake with an amazing landscape all around you. Truly memorable. We will definitely be going back. There’s so much to do and see.

Before arriving the owner (who's lovely and just popped in to check everything was ok for us) had advised us to park on the top road if there was snow. We hadn't as it wasn't snowing when we parked up but please follow the advice if there is a chance of snow (the men in our party spent a day literally clearing the snow all the way up to the top road which wasn't an easy task to get the cars out). There were 12 adults in our party and we didn't move very far because of the weather but the property is so spacious that nobody ever felt on top of each other. The log fire was lovely and it has everything you need to keep you entertained. I don't have anything bad to say about our time there, the house is beautiful and it has the most amazing views from all of the windows around the property. We would definitely recommend it as we had a fabulous time!!!

Plenty of facilities to prepare food and entertain everyone, which you need as you are a little out of the way as nothing within walking distance, although not too far a drive. Cleanliness is something they need to keep and an eye on as there were some areas in need of attention, but luckily didn't us bother too much. Minor point, sound travels in the house so can be disturbing.

Equipped with all you need for a large gathering. Celebrated my husbands 40th Birthday along with family members aged 0 to 60 something. All of us had a wonderful weekend break in this amazing house. The living space is perfect for large groups to socialise together and the ensuite bedrooms are very comfortable. The house is central to the many things available to do in the area, and the views from the house are just stunning! Would not hesitate to book this property in the future for large get togethers.

Capel Dinorwig was met with gasps of delight as we crossed the threshold, a sound that continued as we explored the facilities and took in the stunning views. The location was perfect for local walks and visits to local sights and attractions, from the National Slate Museum to Electric Mountain, the weeping window at Caernarfon Castle to Oriel Ynys Mon . My own highlight was the Velocity Zipwire at Bethesda. Many delightful locations remain to be explored so we are thinking of booking another week to celebrate our graduation golden anniversary in three years. Very highly recommended.

Wonderful open plan living area with amazing windows onto the mountains. Kitchen very well equipped - we did a lot of cooking. A very thoughtful collection of local info, games, books etc for all, and also toys for the small ones - the children in our party loved the mini kitchen. Bedrooms and beds were super -comfortable and the bathrooms are great. The owners put a great deal of effort into making sure their guests' time is very special, with many important touches that made our holiday very memorable for all of us. • "Hi Nine adults and three kids, the kids won!"

Very pleasant stay in Capel Dinorwig. The property is excellent , easy to use good quality well stocked kichen, good toilet and shower facilities and comfortable beds. Internally we need space in our holiday choices and this one has raised the bar, externally there was a bbq on a small patio then into the car park(4easy-6could be -8 um). I expected some sort of garden area and need to improve my research in future. In no way did this spoil our holiday. Away days took us to: Colwyn Bay: Not helpful to the incoming tourist or anyone trying to park and meet -up with others. The pier!! This town is wasting an opportunity to be a vibrant resort, the pier demonstrates how far they have got. Colwyn Bay could be so much better than what it is but craves investment. Greenwood family park: Does what it says and plus a little. Very pleasant day out. Llandudno: So nice we went twice. The Great Orme with the copper mine and the summit are well worth a visit. We returned to celebrate three birthdays at Mama Rose's Italian restaurant which is quaint, quirky and very good food. They catered for all of us together with only 24 hours notice. A visit to Conway Castle then Anglesea Sea Zoo were worth the effort. To fill the last afternoon we went to Newborough beach. We had to pay a toll to get to beach but the drive through the pine forest alone was worth it. A short walk over the dunes to reveal an unspoilt coast. Facilities are available in the car park but the beach is free from any sort of commercial enterprise and is beautiful for it. Llanberis: The nearest village to us is worth exploring and is of course where you book for the railway to the top of Snowden. For the unlucky or less adventurous there is a rail trip round the lake and a stop off at the slate museum. The hydro-electric plant is open and also includes a decent cafe and whilst we were there a Himalayan market. All in all a very enjoyable week for 3 - 66 year olds. K.A.Black

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
