"Lovely little cottage in the heart of a traditional Welsh village."
Ideally placed for walking, exploring the local beauty spots and for travelling further afield. The pub is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and the village shop is open until 8pm each day. It is a quiet location, sheep and birds contribute to the ambiance of the experience. There is an elevated rear garden where there is a table and chairs and barbeque, and it's a real suntrap from early in the morning. The views from the back of the house are lovely, so the little sun room on the back of the house is a real bonus. We bought our dog and he was perfectly safe in the garden. We did have a few issues with the recycling and garden maintenance but the thoughtful owner Denise, will have sorted this I am sure. We can thoroughly recommend.
Thank you for getting in touch on the day you left, Diane – it meant I was able to resolve those issues promptly. I’m so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Dolwen.

"We had a great time at Dolwen."
Denise was very helpful and easy to contact. The property is very cosy, with a well equipped kitchen. Penmachno makes a great base for exploring the area. There is a stunning drive to Criccieth. We visited Bodnant Gardens, went on a little train at Llanberis, strolled through Conway and enjoyed walks straight from the house.

"We were disappointed with the amount of cigarette butts in the plant pot outside the backdoor."
We contacted the owner direct about this and was told that this issue was addressed with the cleaners. We did think someone might have come during our stay to resolve this but no. The cottage is very nice and overall we enjoyed it. We did put a contribution in the church car park. Would we go back - no it just wasnt for us and we would want a little bit more attention to detail
I am sorry to hear about the mess left by previous guests, it's a shame when previous guests do leave hidden mess and do not either clean up themselves or let me know, to be able to clean up.

"We had a lovely restful stay in the cottage, it has everything we needed."
The garden was enclosed for the two dogs which was paramount for me. Logs in the shed for the log burner and a bottle of fizz for us in the kitchen. Very clean and tidy. Local parking available for a small donation nightly. Would recommend and we’ll be back!

"We had a wonderful stay in this cosy, well equipped and brilliantly situated cottage with walks nearby and well located for Betws-y-coed."
The owner was exceedingly helpful and kind and I would definitely stay there again. Great access to Snowdonia's attractions but in a peaceful village. The fact the shop is a few doors away is also very handy!

"Had a great stay at Dolwen."
The cottage had everything you may have needed. It was perfect for us in terms of location for what we needed & has beautiful views.
The little village is lovely and quiet, if you’re after something a little more lively as in bars/restaurants, 10 min drive to the next village and you’ve got more going on.

"Lovely cottage."
Unfortunately, I found the bed in the front room very uncomfortable. The idea of a good night’s sleep is important at my tender age of 77. Snowdonia is unbelievably awesome. If we did return it would have to be a bigger place to stay.

"Both Sam and I stayed at Your beautiful Dolwen cottage,Penmachno, North Wales,28th October/03rd November 2023."
Situated in a quiet, idyllic village surrounded by countryside views, grazing cattle on the hillside. This is the perfect holiday to retreat to, to recharge our batteries.
This is a stunning hidden gem, fabulously stocked up with everything you could possibly need. Including a village church, pub and corner shop, there is nothing else you would possibly need. Definitely a home from home.
Denise is a perfect host, being on hand to answer any queries if need be. Will definitely be returning!!

"We had a fabulous stay, lovely attention to detail for dogs was much appreciated."
The cottage is small but comfortable and cosy, we had everything we needed in the cottage, with a shop at the end of the road and a pub (didn’t visit the pub), a little table at the end of the garden - we sat in the sunshine with a drink & game of cards with our kids each evening surrounded by sheep & lovely views. Zip World is brilliant if you have kids and Conwy Falls was a great little find! Good weather helped but there is so much to do in this beautiful area we ran out of time, the walks & views were breathtaking & we will hopefully be back to visit places we didn't get to go to!

"We had a wonderful honeymoon at Dolwen!"
The cottage was even more beautiful than the description online and there were amazing views of the lambs outside our bedroom window. Denise had really thought of everything - the kitchen had everything you could possibly want, she updated us about local news, and provided so much information about local attractions and places to eat!
There isn't car parking at the property, but the village car park is super close, you just have to move your car on a Sunday for chapel.
We just wish we could stay there forever!

"Lovely little cottage, with all you need."
Great view from the dog friendly garden of hills with nice patio to enjoy. Small pub and shops few yards away in village. Lots of local walks from the village or as a base for short drive to all the key hiking routes. Being centrally based it’s an ideal location. Kitchen and accommodation had everything you needed for home cooking. Perfect!
