  • "The cottage was lovely, and the hot tub was ideal for resting in after walks on the beach."

The owner was really considerate & helpful, directing our lost food delivery driver, giving us information on where to go for lunches, games of pool etc. We knew the cottage was on a farm, but didn’t expect to be slap bang in the middle of it, so the views from the cottage weren’t great, and there was some noise from the farm machinery, gates banging & animals. What would have made our holiday better was that the Wi-Fi in the cottage struggled when 3 of us were trying to use it. One evening it didn’t work at all for any of us, which, with a teenager wasn’t ideal. And because there’s no Vodaphone or EE signal at the cottage unless you walked a few minutes down the lane we were a bit stuck. There are some board games and dvds in the cottage though which helped pass the time.

Lots of walks, beaches, beautiful scenery and wildlife around plus a hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. Some nice places to eat that are dog friendly including the White Eagle at Rhoscolyn. We enjoyed seeing the animals on the farm especially the donkeys and despite being a working farm it was quiet and relaxing. Gwyneth, the host, is friendly and helpful. The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. We are hoping for a return visit in the future.

It was very clean with everything you could want while on holiday. the owner was lovely and very helpful. while we was there she had three donkeys arrive and we was aloud to go into the field to feed them which my two grandchildren loved . The hot tub was a wonderful addition we we used every night . there is a lovely beach only 4 miles away that has public toilets and places to eat and buy ice cream and coffee from. There isn't anything bad i can say about the cottage its a wonderful place to stay with stunning scenery all around . We all had a lovely time and would most deferentially return .

  • "The cottage itself was nice and clean."

However, the view- a pile of rubble in front of the hot tub was not appealing at all and a shame. Throughout our stay we experienced very poor water pressure and sometimes the water stopped completely for over half an hour at time. I was not happy, particularly as Sykes had sent us an email a month before telling us the water pressure had been fixed. I informed the owner and whilst I don't recall her apologising she provided bottled water. A plumber attended on day 3 and it improved slightly however we noticed tiny black bits in the water from water we had been collecting in saucepans! We were then concerned what had we been drinking! The owner did not appear interested and no compensation from Sykes! Very annoyed as we feel we have not had justice for what we had to put up with.

I appreciate that you were unhappy before you went into the cottage and you were offered a full refund. Sykes offered you 4 other cottages and I offered to re direct your grocery delivery which arrived one and a half hours later. This is a working farm and we do have housing for cattle and silage pits. • "Lovely 3 bed, 2 bath cottage right in the middle of a farmyard."

Small, walled garden was ideal for letting our dogs out before bedtime, although a more agile dog would easily jump the wall. This is a working farm and the cattle sheds are right next to the house so if you don't like the smell or the sound of cattle, it's not for you. Also, there are tractors in and out and the cattle are driven right past the cottage, so mind your children. The proprieter, Gwyneth, is very warm and welcoming. She happily showed us around the farm and enthusiastically explained anything we were interested in. For the birdwatchers, there are Swallows nesting and many other birds around, including Buzzards and Kestrels. The Wales coast path is less than 1km away (almost at the end of the drive) and there are great views of the sea and Holyhead Mountain from the farm. The cottage was generally clean but the floor, although it has been bkeached just before we arrived, needed cleaning again and the plastic sofas (standard in dog friendly cottages) had to be thoroughly disinfected and wiped over by ourselves before we could sit on it. Everything else was clean enough. The bathrooms were well equipped and modern but the water supply was inadequate, so if someone was using the downstairs shower or the hose outside, you'd get no water upstairs. I believe this is being addressed soon with a new mains water service from the road. Hot water was very hot. Beds were comfy and clean. Lounge windows were too dirty to see out of. This is because it rained and then the tractors kicked up a lot of dust which then stuck to the wet glass. There is a hot tub in the garden which is cleaned and refilled each week and was very pleasant. Overall - a really nice holiday cottage, run by a lovely, genuine lady. For us, it was ideal. We would definitely stay there again.

  • "We had a lovely stay in the cottage with the hot tub."

It is on a working farm and we thought this added to the charm of the property. We read reviews prior to going regarding the water pressure. We found the pressure to be quite low when having a shower but managed to have one daily. There was never an occasion when we were without water. We enjoyed all the local walks that were accessible from the property and found this cottage to be a great base to explore Anglesey.

But the lack of water was a real big issue, especially with a family of 6 .It felt like we were camping with no shower block .We had to decided either wash us or the pots .Upstairs shower never worked taps dribble water 1 min to fill kettle ,shower down stairs if it came on went hot very quickly so all wk felt dirty. When we approached the owner all we got was I know about the after pressure but nothing about getting it fixed. Also the photos don't warn you it's right next to the cowshed .

We had a problem with the mains water and it was impossible to get Welsh Water to come to the farm, it has now been fixed. This is a working farm on which we have cattle and sheep, these animals do need sheds for the winter month I would like to state that two blue bath towels are missing, i can only assume that these were taken home in error by the customer. The host encouraged the kids to feed the animals and pet the amenable animals. The hot tub was hot on arrival and was a massive bonus to be able to chuck the kids in whilst I unpacked after a long journey. The accommodation was clean and there was plenty of room within the building, the only downfall was the water supply. The proprietor is aware of this and with having other cottages and a farm to run this is a priority to resolve. There is plenty of room for three vehicles and a small garden area; as a point to walk from the location is not far from South Stack Lighthouse and a pair of Standing Stones.

The owners are right on hand to help with any questions or problems that might arise. The farm is right off the beaten track near to the south stacks area of the Holy Island. The directions given are okay except for the 0.7 miles from turning right at the end of Porth Darfach road. Its around 1 1/2 miles before you see the farm sign on the peak of one of the sharp left hand bends. The views can only be described as breath taking - more so if the wind is blowing! It is wise to note that the cottage is 'upside down' that is to say the day to day living and the master bedroom and one bathroom are at the top and two bedrooms and a second bathroom are on the ground floor. The hot tub is lovely to relax in after a day out walking the many beaches, cliffs, and country parks that are all either right on the doorstep or a short drive away. Some beaches exclude dogs from March to the end of September, but we found that there is usually an area of the beach set aside where the dogs can let off. A lot of the pubs are dog friendly. All in all its a wonderful place to stay. Our 3 golden retrievers loved it!

HOLYHEAD

Trearddur Bay 3 miles.

The bustling town of Holyhead rests on the North West coast of the Isle of Anglesey, the largest town on the island and perhaps known best for being the main ferry port to Ireland. Steeped in history, the town boasts the remains of Roman town walls and forts, medieval burial chambers and stone village foundations. Explore the Breakwater Country Park, a former quarry, which offers designated walks through the grounds. The park is full of interesting wildlife, most notably the seals who visit the Holyhead coast, and outlines the amazing construction of the world's longest breakwater, some 1.8 miles, which today protects the harbour. Visit the colourful marina with its yachts and tall ships, or the town's maritime museum, with its tales of 100 shipwrecks in the vicinity. Day trips to Ireland can be enjoyed easily from here, with Dublin just 90 minutes away on the fast ferry. With spectacular cliff top walks over Holyhead Mountain, golden sandy beaches at the award winning Trearddur Bay and the Snowdonia National Park just a 20 minute drive away, this is a superb holiday location, at any time of the year.
