  • "A lovely property, with a nice mix of modern and character features."

The location could not be any better, shops and train station near by. A 15 minute trip by train to downtown Liverpool with loads of shops, museums and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!

  • "Sunlight Cottage is an ideal property for visiting the Wirral, Chester and Liverpool."

We found it to be very comfortable and ideal for our party of two. The heating is very efficient given time for the large radiators to warm up and the remote control enabled us to adjust the heating to our requirements. The bathroom, especially the shower, is one of the best we have encountered in any rental property. Port Sunlight has a unque community atmosphere and Sunlight Cottage enabled us to feel part of that community during our stay. We would reccomend a visit to the Lady Lever Art Gallery. Lots to see and do plus a super cafe in the basement. The Port Sunlight Museum provides a fascinating insight into the history of the soap industry and the development of Port Sunlight. We would definitely return.

  • "What a lovely place to stay in, so quiet and pleasant, never far from some green open spaces."

It was lovely walking around the vicinity. The location is also perfect for exploring all the main tourist attractions in and around Liverpool. Chester wasn't too far away for a day trip either. As for the property itself, it is well furnished and equipped, even with a back-up Kettle! The heating worked well and we could always get parked outside the front of the property. There is nothing to dislike about the property or location in our opinion.

  • "We were so excited to find your fabulous cottage being in the right location, at the right time and at such a competitive price."

I am afraid we had some small but niggling issues with the stay. !. The heating didn't seem to come on at the right times, so the mornings were rather chilly. 2.When the radiators were working well we had to draw the curtains across which defeated the effect of fully heating the bedrooms and the living area. 3. Lovely large and deep bath but the water heater could not cope with filling the bath with hot enough water. Other than that your cottage exceeded our expectations. Many thanks again. John & Steve.

  • "We had a great stay and enjoyed every minute."

The property has been tastefully modernised with everything you could need. Location was central for exploring Chester and Liverpool amongst others with the train station within easy walking distance. The owner was really accommodating in fitting in with our dedicated dates. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area. The Bridge Inn and the Tudor Rose Tea Rooms in the village are well worth a visit.

  • "Leaking tap reported on arrival but no attempt to fix."

The plumbing needs attention.Air blocks in pipes which create a loud howling when water is run or toilet flushed. Cottage was warm and beds were comfortable. Downstairs the living room furniture was very tired and not comfortable to sit on. The crockery was basic and although four of everything some things were chipped. There were lots of items of furniture that served no purpose such as piano stool but no bedside cabinets. The owners had placed stickers on walls and cupboards with instructions which did not look nice at all. The cottage is in a good place near to the train station etc but does need some attention.

  • "We had an excellent holiday in this comfortable cottage."

it's position in the centre of the village was very convenient and the back sitting out area was a wonderful sun trap in the afternoons. Port Sunlight is a haven between the busy Port roads. We didn't get in our car at all. We found the Museum and Soap Works very interesting and the Lady Lever Art Gallery stunning with much to look at in this magnificent building. We also enjoyed walks to and around the Port Sunlight River Park. In these Covid times eating out was a bit of a problem but we did enjoy some excellent Scouse in the Art Gallery Cafe and delicious cake in the Tudor Tea Rooms. The Garden Centre is well worth a visit too and it has a large restaurant, although they were having staffing problems at times. We found everyone in the area welcoming and helpful. The weather was warm and often sunny so altogether an excellent week's break.

  • "We had an excellent weeks stay at Sunlight Soap Cottage."

It had all the amenities for our stay in Port Sunlight which is a lovely village and would recommend anyone thinking of visiting the area to do so. We traveled to many places from Chester to Southport and New Brighton by just buying a day saver ticket (£5.50) and jumping on the train. There is an Aldi 5 minutes walk away for any shopping you require. All in all we loved our stay and would definitely return.

We love the cottage and the village. Two points: 1) The glass fridge shelves had not been cleaned. 2) Can I suggest a simple grab hand rail in the shower. Makes life a lot easier getting in and out for those with some mobility issues. They are very cheap and easy to fit.

The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and sparkling clean. It has been tastefully renovated and stylishly decorated. Port Sunlight is delightful, very quiet just a shame that the museums were closed due to Covid19. However, it was interesting walking around and we had ice creams on the green. The garden centre is also worth a visit. Liverpool and Chester are not far away and accessible by car, train or bus. We have already booked to return and would recommend this cottage.

I know Port Sunlight already so know it’s charm but the cottage was perfectly placed. We wanted for nothing ... every amenity you have at home that you may want while away; and those little extras that people leave behind plus some beautiful flowers (thank you). Spotless, comfortable, homely, classic cottage ... loved it so much my mum wanted to move in! Extra thanks to Angela.

We've stayed in many self-catering properties over the years and this has to be one of the best. It might be helpful if Sykes could add a little note in the description to the effect that the stairs are quite steep with a high tread, which the elderly/disabled would find difficult to negotiate.
