It was a very nice stay with a lovely view of the bay.

A few things need attention in the conservatory: a couple of windows have blown, the electric radiator doesn't work at all, and it would be nice to have a TV in the conservatory so you can enjoy the TV and the views from that location. Some shower fixtures and fittings need to be checked, as they are starting to come loose. Also, it would be good to have a more up-to-date handbook on how to use the washing machine, tumble dryer/ heating/oven and what items go into particular bins. The handbook provided is very light on property details. This is a cracking property, but it needs a little time to sort out a few details to be truly amazing.

Fantastic stay, gorgeous scenery, comfortable big rooms and brilliant games/ snooker room.

Facilities were great however left side oven and fan in dryer room does not work. Better instructions needed for rubbish/ recycling. Would love to stay again; watching the red squirrels, different birds and bunnies was fascinating.

We had a wonderful family trip to Anglesey (along with my 90 year old Mum) and there is no doubt that the property's location is its outstanding feature as it is right on the shore.

We had great weather so were able to enjoy sitting out on the decking and watch the tide come in and out and just enjoy the peace and quiet that surrounds the property. However, there are a few things that could make this property really stand out, it just needs some proper TLC. Many people have flagged up the same issues around the house in the visitor book and the online reviews over the last 4 years but its such a shame that nobody is taking this on board and sorting it out. The recycling is a real issue as there are no instructions whats so ever to tell you what goes in what bin. Fortunately we were staying there when one of the bin lorries made a collection so could work out 3 of them but no idea on the other 3, we even asked the neighbours and they didn't know what one of the bins at the property was for! Surely this is a really easy thing to sort out ? There are a few windows in the conservatory that need replacing, there is also one of the blinds that's broken and also two of the bedroom window blinds upstairs are broken so you can't pull them down with a cord you have to do it by hand. The bedrooms get the sun first thing so you really need to use them. First impression of the outside of the property aren't very good, if they have a gardener they're not doing a good job so I would sack them and the gutters, especially on the water facing side of the house are overflowing with weeds, it doesn't look like anyone has cleaned them out for quite some time. The outside table was absolutely filthy when I cleaned it so it definitely had not been cleaned before our arrival. The house instruction book is really poor, most of it just had written scraps of paper and leaflets that are years out of date. There are absolutely no details of how the heating or hot water work or any instructions on how to light the log burner, fortunately we didn't need any heating as it was warm but no idea what happens for the colder months. The property was clean and comfortable and the snooker room is a great addition and there are plenty of TV's for everyone. There wasn't much washing up liquid or kitchen roll but I had taken my own so it wasn't a problem and I liked the fact that there was plenty of toilet rolls and towels. There is no teapot which was a bit strange as there was a cafetiere. The dishwasher door is also quite difficult to close. The lock box to retrieve the key on arrival was a bit tricky to operate as its low down on a side wall so not that easy to access, especially if you arrive in the dark. There was only one key available, I think another one would be helpful especially if people are going out at different times. We used the conservatory door key as a back up. Overall we had a lovely break and I would book again because of the location but it could be so much better if the owner would just give the house the TLC it deserves. I hope that my comments are constructive and help the owner to understand what would take it to the next level and get 5 star reviews.

We had a fabulous family holiday, weather couldn’t have been better .

Location of the house was great. We enjoyed playing snooker, and the fabulous views from the house, proximity to eating places. Shop Inn and The Boathouse were great. Several housekeeping issues which have been recurrent we identified and left for the housekeeper separately. They didnt however detract from us having a wonderful holiday.

It was a real treat to watch the blue tits fledge from the nest box and to see the swallows arrive – such a special experience. A couple of suggestions that might help future guests: Clearer instructions on recycling would be useful, particularly which bins are for which types of waste. It would also be helpful to have a simple way of reporting any maintenance issues, such as a checklist or contact form. For example, the shower spray attachment was faulty, and it would be good for issues like this to be passed on before the next guests arrive.needed a cheese grater,dishwasher door faulty Thank you for a wonderful holiday. :::

We were incredibly lucky with the weather, which meant we could make full use of the outside areas and lovely views. We had everything we needed and were warm and comfortable throughout. Fabulous place in a wonderful location.

What a beautiful house and location.

Could just spend all day looking at the view and wildlife! Didn’t have any issues with the supply of logs for the wood burner which soon gets the conservatory very cosy and warm or any issues with the quantity of cutlery in the dining room dresser drawer!! Beds very comfy. Snooker table loved by all our family and we all had a great time we will be booking again when possible. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Solve the problem, give me someone to actually talk to, give me a supervisor / manager, don't lie that all problems highlighted from two years ago had been solved when they blatantly hadn't, offer to swap to another property immediately, give a full refund as requested!

How you expect a house sleeping 8 people to cope with 1 knife and 5 forks I don't know especially with the main room being really cold most of the day! You completely ruined our holiday and especially my Mum's (as a belated 90th birthday present) and my father-in-law wouldn't risk coming as he suffers badly with asthma and the cold! Nobody senior ever reached out to us, I have told everyone I know to avoid you, I'd specifically called to check it was going to be okay before I even booked it but was assured it would be. We have booked over 20 holidays with Menai Holidays over the years and was assure that Sykes would be the same if not better - I can assure you that we will NEVER use you again and will actively tell people not to do the same due to the atrocious way we were treated! A very expensive mistake on both sides!

The accomodation is beautiful and in a stunning location .

As has previously been mentioned the lack of a proper welcome pack is an issue as it took us 5 days to figure out how to work the 2nd oven , we eventually found the cooker leaflet shoved at the back of a drawer . The radiator in the big conservatory doesn’t work and there was no wood when we arrived . ( this was delivered our 2nd day but we weren’t made aware so had gone out and bought wood ) Apart from the above we loved the property , spacious and with everything you could need . The view is outstanding .

The cottage itself is well placed on the shore of Red Wharf Bay.

It is well appointed. However, the only source of heating in the quite large dining area of the conservatory was a large electric radiator. It was defective and did not work. Online reviews for this property clearly show that this defect was first reported over two years ago. Also there were no logs, kindling, fire lighters provided for the log burner. The extractor fan over the cooker is also not working. These are often repeated complaints in the online reviews.

This was a very special holiday for our family.

The house could not have been any more comfortable and luxurious. The view of the bay is good for the soul. So very relaxing sitting watching the tide come in and out and the wading birds. All bedding and kitchenware very high quality. The walk to the pub is short and pleasant. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Kitchen – Main oven and extractor not working Main Bedroom – radiator thermostat not working/dead flies on windowsills and on mattress when bed stripped (have photos) Middle Bedroom – Mattress uncomfortable/no TV remote/bathroom radiator cold/extractor not working End Bedroom – *Shower cubicle blocked (lots of hair cleaned out by us) Lounge - needs more sofas *Previous guests noted in Reviews/Visitor book several times, obviously never read by owners House details on website states fuel included – do guests need to bring their own logs now? Suggestion – Conservatory too cold for winter months, perhaps put dining table into what is now downstairs bedroom, and kitchen needs option to be “shut off” from conservatory Having stayed in many cottages via Sykes for nearly 20 years this is the first time I have felt the need to express my disappointment with what is otherwise a beautiful house!

We have stayed in this beautiful house for many times now.

We love this house and its location - it suits our needs perfectly. There was no shortage of glasses and there was a new oven pan. Other comments over the broken lamp and kitchen knifes have been addressed. What does worry us is the dwindling numbers of oyster catchers, egrets and curlews . Thank you to the owners for allowing us to enjoy their beautiful home.

Lovely property in fantastic location.

However one or two maintenance issues: Shower not draining properly and shower door not shutting well in one double room Not enough tumblers , no cheese grater, freezer seal broken and dirty. One dustbin stuffed full of very old rubbish causing an issue with flies. Dustmen emptied one but not this one We had to find out bin collection day from neighbour as no instruction pack. If these matters could be resolved the property would be perfect. We had a wonderful holiday!

The stay would have been fantastic ,but most of the bedding and cushions contained feathers ,2 of the party had a feather allergy,and there was no information pack

We cannot fault the location and certain aspects of this property, however like previously mentioned we had same problems regarding no working lamps , no lights bulbs , limited glasses, no egg cups .

No welcome pack with instructions or manuals (apart from bottle of Prosecco and box of after Eights) certain areas were dirty particularly behind unit in dining room and cobwebs in rooms . En suite bedroom really needs addressing , toilet water disappeared on flushing , wash hand basin ,water took ages drain Shower was dirty full of hair and you ended up standing in water and took ages to drain . No heating in kitchen and dining room . Electric radiator did not work and just a couple of logs . Was cold . Don’t expect to pay this amount of money for such a property . Would I stay here again , No .

The property location is absolutely stunning.

The house is lovely and the snooker room went down a storm with the family. Our only criticisms would have to be as other people have said, that lack of attention to details, things like no welcome back, instructions for stuff, many light bulbs missing or not working etc. We had an absolutely wonderful time and will go back, but just some basic maintenance on the place would make it almost perfect

Second visit to Porth Llongdy Uchaf since February this year,Beautiful Property but just needs attention on the every day necessities,I reported last time we stayed,frying pan and baking tray not fit for purpose they have been put in a cupboard were the boiler is ,upstairs bedroom en-suite does not drain properly fills right up when you have a shower,kitchen Knives very poor no bread knife,we brought our own knives because of our last stay we new what to expect ,perhaps you have contract cleaners and not a caretaker to maintain the property who would take more tender loving care on such a lovely home.

Why doesn’t Sykes themselves respond to the reviews on this property and fix all the problems as they are the agents and I’m sure are getting a good percentage from this property.

We had to change from master bedroom to twin bedroom 3rd night as we were unable to switch hot tap off in ensuite bathroom husband believes the tap washer needs replacing,also in master bedroom I switched on main ceiling light the lights blew and all ceiling lights upstairs were off,did not know were the main fuse box was as this happened Saturday night,phoned Sykes next day left message on their emergency contact number had no response at all,luckily next day after searching high and low found the fuse box in down stairs toilet.

Phoned Sykes on Monday morning to report again about the hot tap pouring water out continuously (Such a Waste of water ) water still running when we left 5 days later no one called to fix tap .Beautiful House just a shame that as we have read on many other reviews light bulbs not working,frying pan and baking tray not fit for purpose,having said all that we have booked another week in March .

The house is fabulous, well maintained and beautifully set overlooking the sea.

There was only one aspect of the stay that wasn’t great was the lack of a welcome pack and instructions on using the many things in the house, l.e. the burglar alarm, washing machine, wood burning stove.

A really amazing location.

The property is in essence comfortable. There are niggles, most of which can be overlooked, outside of high season. The main issues for us was that washing machine wasn’t working and that there was only one usable baking sheet. Looking back through previous comments we think owners do address some issues that are raised but blown light bulbs do seem to be an issue!

It is the most beautiful property and it is an honour to be able to stay here. Silly things need checking The key box needs replacing Check lightbulbs. Washing up liquid. Dishwasher tabs. Blinds and blown windows in conservatory. Nevertheless it’s a wonderful holiday home and charming housekeeper.

We have been to this property a few times now and love it.

It's in a fabulous position overlooking the bay. We had a problem with the washing machine from day one but the owner was quick to sort this for us. Would recommend it the property to anyone.

A wonderful property with good views - let down by a few niggles like no can opener, no cafetiere, no tea-pot, no re-cyclying instructions, sticking light switch in snooker room - all of which could easily be fixed.

The location of this property is amazing and excellent especially if you like peace and quiet and a beach accessible from the garden.

It is very spacious and adequate for a multi generational family of 8 like ours with comfortable furniture and beds. We enjoyed a really good family holiday there. The family love playing snooker and so the full size snooker table was a huge draw for us and tho many games were enjoyed on it during the day the fact that the lights over the table did not work was very disappointing and frustrating when wanting play in the evenings. I did phone Sykes on second day to find out where the switch for lights was and they contacted the cleaner who passed on a message via Sykes but sadly the light switch does not work and Sykes told me they had sent email to the house owner who never got back to us. There are also several table lamps especially in the conservatory and some over head lights in rooms which needs bulbs replacing and also the head in the shower cubicle in the house bathroom is broken too. A few extra kitchen items like a grater and potato peeler would have been useful as the one there is broken. This is a beautiful home and great place for a holiday and on the surface is clean but a little bit more attention to deeper cleaning (quite a few cobwebs here and there) would keep it in top shape.

Internet had been cut off , only half the heating was working , stayed here last year and it was a lot cleaner , we had to cut our stay short , as could not work without WiFi

Wow, wow, wow,

The house was a get size for our family holiday of 7 adults though in both the lounge and conservatory there was not enough seating.

The comfiest bed was apparently the twin downstairs. The location and views were beautiful and so peaceful. Lovely short walk to pub and bistro though not really suitable in the dark. Snooker table very popular in the evening, unfortunately we did not find the light switch for it until penultimate night which was annoying. A little sticker or something would have been handy. Unusually for a holiday let no instructions on how to use anything or where to find anything. Owner did call us the day before arrival to kindly let us know we could arrive earlier than stated time. We did text owner on arrival with a few slight maintenance issues, on departure day he replied advising he was aware of the issues.

Stayed here three times, love it.

There are quirky things about it and it would be easy to write a list of ‘could do with ‘ but none of these is important. For me and my poorly husband it is our perfect place, as a carer, I can relax so easily and recuperate. It’s comforting to know the hospital is very close by. So sad we might not be able to rent again, would love yo go back in October.

Fabulous property & views of bay.

Would have liked an information pack especially for bin collection times, local doctors etc. Peeling knives, baking trays, bottle opener and can opener are things that would have been useful to have had. Having said this we enjoyed immensely and would love to return.

The views are amazing and the house was spotless. We would definitely book again.

Stayed in June 2023 with 3 generations including 4y/o and 20-month-old.

An absolute treat - beautiful property, superbly maintained, a big thank you to the owners. Points raised in the review from a week or so earlier had clearly been resolved. Setting is incredible, took my 4y/o down the steps to explore the crabs and made some wonderful memories. Location perfect for exploring Anglesey and surrounding area. Note for families that we found we couldn’t use standard pressure-fit stair gates but instead we just about managed to put one on a bedroom and used bungee cords to deter toddler from steps down to laundry, and this worked ok for us. Only suggestion is that an info pack would’ve been useful - we had to figure a few things out for ourselves but all was quite straightforward. Snooker room (with a keyboard too) was a wonderful bonus and really nicely done - adults often retired to that in the evenings! The deck area was nicely furnished too. Property is a lovely place to spend time especially when weather postpones plans. Certainly hope to return in future.

Exceptionally large and comfortable property, stunning location, and views.

Excellent welcome basket. Whilst sleeps eight comfortably, seating areas in the lounge and conservatory accommodate five at most and are a little tired. The kitchen is under equipped for a party of eight, lack of mugs and glasses require constant washing up. Vegetable knives, a cheese grater, baking sheets and microwave dishes would be helpful. Difficult to clean grill pan etc due to no cleaning cloths or materials. The lack of an information guide including contact details for cleaner, caretaker or owners leaves Sykes Cottages as the only point of contact for issues, maintenance etc. Minor maintenance issues marred the overall experience, one ensuite shower requires deep cleaning of grout. We reported several items on arrival which were still not resolved upon departure. A beautiful property appears to have been abandoned by owners to the care of Sykes Cottages.

We love this property.

It suits us so well. Sadly it just needs some management. Just silly things like dish cloth, dish washing liquid, clocks not working because of dead batteries. No Cleaning equipment particularly in the bathrooms. The most important thing missing were instructions , where to find WiFi password, nearest hospital etc. We had a problem with the dish washer and despite David, the housekeeper mending it, Having said all this, we have booked it again for September . We just love the tranquility and position.

On arrival at 3pm (2nd June) the property was still being cleaned, we were asked to come back at 4pm (no problem).

The couple cleaning the property informed us that the dishwasher door panel was broken and had been removed. They said they would inform Sykes and have it repaired asap (it couldn't be used as the door kept springing shut). We phoned Sykes the next day as we hadn't heard from them. A customer contact was logged and someone arranged to call on Sunday (4th June) between 1200-1300 to repair the washer. Nobody arrived or contacted us to say they couldn't make it. The washer was still broken when we left on Friday (9th June) - no contact from the repairer or Sykes all week. When we arrived the 4 wheelie bins were full (that full the lids didn't close). The previous guests had complained in the book that the bins hadn't been emptied (so rubbish had been building up for a while), by now the contents were rancid. Sykes were told the day after we arrived (same time as the washer complaint) but again nothing happened and we left with rubbish piled up everywhere - I can supply a photograph as we left. The property is lovely but Sykes let it down.

Lovely place the snooker room an added bonus

This is a wonderful cottage.

It is very spacious and comfortable. The position is truly amazing with lots of good restaurants and supermarkets close by. It would have been good to have an information wallet contains WiFi code, things to do, places to eat, doctors address, dentist and hospital. I would have liked a chopping board, water jug and more mugs. But none of that would stop me going again . Thank you to the owners, we loved your cottage.
