  • "Had a lovely stay here, one of the best properties we have stayed in."

Cottage was very clean, well equipped with everything we needed and the bed was so comfortable. The owners Janet & John were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cottage is in a good location for exploring North Wales. The hot tub was very welcoming after our climb up Snowdon which John kindly kept warm for our return. Would recommend and we will definitely return.

A great location with plenty of local pathways and walks, good also for visits to Conwy and Llandudno. The owners were on hand next door for anything and were so helpful and Fri endly. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

So nice to have you both and for James to have travelled all the way from the South of France. It was a shame that he didn't bring the weather with him but maybe next time :D Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing stay at this cottage and the owners Janet and John were lovely."

They were on hand if needed but left us alone to do our own thing, however, if they were around they were only too pleased to offer advice on where to go. The cottage itself was immaculate and the hot tub was easy to use. The location was slightly too far to walk into Conway and back but the taxi service was excellent. We’re definitely going to return the near future.

Thanks so much for your lovely review Jason. We love our guests to have have a good time and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Property Owner

Thanks for your lovely review Charlotte and it's great to know you enjoyed the hot tub so much. I think there's nothing better than languishing in there and watching the rain pouring down outside :D We look forward to seeing you again :) Property Owner

  • "We had a 4 night break at The Old Stable, I wish we could have had longer."

The owners were absolutely amazing making us feel well at home and very welcome. They gave us all the privacy we needed and helped us when we wanted to use the wood fired hot tub which is equally amazing. It's super quiet and tranquil if you just want to chill out with a book and a glass of wine. The cottage is so clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. It's home from home. We will definitely be going back. Thank you so much Janet and Jon. We will see you again x

Thanks Michelle. I'm delighted you had the chilled break you needed and deserved and thank you for your lovely review. You know where we are if you need us again. xxx Property Owner

  • "The details of this cottage are misleading, the photos of the large garden are not for your use, this is the owners private garden, you only have use of a small courtyard garden."

Also the hot tub is not included in the price, we were asked to pay an additional £50 to use the tub, which is also overlooked by the owners house, not very private!!! Very disappointing…….

Hello Elaina. We're really sorry that you were disappointed with the Old Stable. I think the issue here is that you booked before we had enclosed a private garden for the guests so that the images you viewed at the time would not have reflected this . We apologise if this caused you distress. Current images are now accurate. Also, the hot tub was not fitted at the time of your booking so the price you paid at the time did not include it. This is why we asked for a contribution for water/logs etc. if you wanted to use it. I did explain this in my email before you arrived. I agree there is an element of overlooking but we have fitted curtains inside the hot tub building for the privacy of our guests when they are using it. We have only been operating since April this year and are therefore still evolving. We have had some lovely guests stay with us who have been happy to engage with us and help us shape our offer. The one decision we have made since your visit is that we will no longer accept dogs. I think you will understand our reasons without me going into them here. We hope you find a property more suited to your requirements the next time you visit North Wales. Property Owner

  • "The owners are lovely and were extremely helpful."

They have promised to update the property manual to include recommended walks for future stays. We were very comfortable for our weeks stay, despite the excessive wet weather.

Thank you for your review Steve - I'm actually working on the walks to add to the property manual at this very moment. :D It was so nice to meet you both and it was a shame that we weren't around a bit more. I hope my sister and her husband looked after you whilst we were away. Come round for a beer or a glass of wine next time. x Property Owner

  • "We have found our favourite hideaway place in North Wales."

The Old Stable felt like a luxury to place to stay. The pictures on the website do not do it justice, as the cottage is far bigger than what it looks! The place could not be any cleaner. Everything feels new and so comfortable. you have everything you need as gif you were in your own home! The kitchen is stunning with a great dining table with beautiful views to the garden. Location is absolutely perfect with main towns at a 10-15 minute drive and a great variety of nearby hiking experiences. The cottage is very easy to find and it has a little carpark right opposite. The hosts, Janet and John go far and beyond to provide their guests with a very positive and pleasant experience. We were greeted with lovely cakes and we were given some homegrown fruit and vegetables. Janet and John are so a great and friendly couple! We look forward to visiting again and I have already recommend the place to friends. Thanks you so much for such a lovely stay! Peter & Blanca Grindley

The location has the best of both worlds being very close to Conwy and the local beaches but set in a very scenic location with walks direct from the door. Janet and John are without doubt the most welcoming hosts we have ever met and nothing was too much trouble to ensure we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend.

Very comfortable, very well thought out with useful items provided in the kitchen that you might not have taken yourself, eg cling film to wrap your picnic in. Beautiful area in North Wales for walking and wildflowers and trees. We will think about going again later on. Janet sent us good travel directions to avoid roadworks in Conway. The contemporary kitchen/diner is well equipped for you to cook up your favourite dishes and eat at the round table looking onto the courtyard garden and the view beyond the owners’ garden.

Fling the patio doors open in summer to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.

A bistro set is provided at the front of the property to catch the morning sun; a great breakfast spot.

Up the stairs you’ll find the bedroom, complete with a king-size bed, vaulted ceilings and beams.

A shower room is just outside the bedroom door.

Blessed with a good selection of independent shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants, you can easily pass a relaxing day here.

There is a plethora of beautiful walks locally or just a short drive away.

Whether you prefer short pub walks from the cottage, views from the nearby Conwy mountain, hiking in Eryri (Snowdonia), roaming around the nearby Bodnant Gardens or RSPB reserve, exploring the Great Orme with its famous goats, or an evening beach walk, all within easy reach.

Dip into the wood-fired hot tub on your return to ease those aching muscles.

The owners live next door so can be on hand to help light it if needed.

If it’s traditional seaside fun you crave, then head into Llandudno just five miles away; with its two beaches, pier and promenade, fun fair, cable-car ride, shops, restaurants and amusements, this Victorian seaside jewel won’t disappoint.

In the evening why not take in a show, film or concert at Venue Cymru?

Higher octane pastimes can be found a short drive away at Llandudno Snowsports Centre or Zipworld.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
