Farm Yard Cottage

We have been visiting Boundcliffe Farm for a number of years and would usually book both properties however we were a smaller group this year and stayed at Farmyard Cottage.

Our stay was fantastic, the cottage is well equipped spacious and very clean.The children had a great time as there is a playground on site and kept them occupied when we were not out and about, The owners Gary and Jeannie are on site and are always friendly and very accommodating. I would be happy to recommend Boundcliffe Farm to anyone wanting a great stay in North Yorkshire. Have already booked for 2027 Many Thanks Gary and Jeannie.

The property is on the owners farm.

There is no driving up dirt tracks as the property is just off the village road in Allerston. Pretty flowers surround the cottage with a parking place. Inside you go into the front room which has a comfy sofa and a arm chair enough space for three. The kitchen is quite large with all amenities you would require. A lovely cake was in the fridge with milk and orange. There is a dishwasher and washer. The downstairs bedroom is roomy with an ensuite and two very comfy beds. Upstairs there is a double bed also with a ensuite. We stayed in very hot weather and upstairs gets very hot. There is fans available. In the fields there is a playground for any children which may stay. The owners are just across the yard and available for any queries. Very friendly people but not intrusive. Overall a lovely stay.

The cottage was lovely and very well equipped, we holidayed with our 2 dogs for the first time and they had they own welcome treat bags.

Our hosts were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. It was a great base for our holiday.

What a wonderful cottage!

Lovely welcoming hosts. The cottage was spotless, well stocked and very homely. The on site play area was a huge hit with our little one. Brilliant location for exploring the area and just a few minutes drive from local pubs.

The cottage has no secure garden, just a patio up some steps, and is open to the farm yard.

The owner said she is going to rectify this over winter, and asked me for my idea of what to do, which she agreed with! Inside, the kitchen is well equipped, with sufficient crockery and cutlery for a few days before needing the dish washer. The lounge was comfortable and toasty warm. Finding the normal tv channels was a challenge, which we overcame! We used the downstairs bedroom, 2 single beds, which was warm and comfortable, and the shower room was warm, and 5he shower itself was lovely and powerful. There was a bedroom with ensure, but we only ventured up there for a nosey on arrival, and borrow a table lamp. I would suggest changing the double bed for a king-size. That's the reason we slept downstairs. Outside is a busy farm in action, but a short walk took us to a children's play area, and a large grass field for our dogs to run about on. In the area there are many lovely towns to visit, and NT and EH properties to visit, plus many private ones. I have never had so much cake and coffee in my life! Speaking of which, the cottage owner kindly left us a cake, milk, tea and coffee, which was much appreciated. Would I return to the same place? Yes, absolutely.

We’ve had a truly lovely stay – this is by far the nicest place we’ve stayed in out of 14 holidays.

The accommodation was spotless, with a very high standard of cleanliness throughout. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, and all of the appliances and utensils were excellent quality. It’s also extremely dog-friendly. We were welcomed with a thoughtful pack that included dog biscuits, poo bags, dog towels and bedding and water bowls. Despite being so dog-friendly the cottage smelled wonderfully fresh and clean. The safety gate to keep our dogs downstairs was a brilliant touch. The cottage itself was cosy and warm, with fantastic showers and very comfortable beds. Jeannie and Gary were so friendly and welcoming – nothing was too much trouble. Jeannie especially went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The large paddock and the many countryside walks straight from the farm made it even more special. We can’t recommend this place highly enough – we will definitely be returning!

Another great stay - this is the second time we've been as part of a bigger group who also stayed at Boundcliffe Farm.

The playground and field space for dogs was brilliant. Cottage was well appointed, clean and comfortable and Gary and Jeannie the owners were really quick to respond to any questions and very friendly.

Had a wonderful time.

It was the first time we had taken our dog's away and we would certainly do it again. The cottage was lovely. It was spotlessly clean and spacious. It had all the appliances and utensils you could wish for and all the extras like milk juice and bottles of water and a Victoria sponge cake. The dog's even had goodie bags. The garden was private and secure. Jeannie was very friendly and accommodating and made us feel welcome. I would highly recommend this property. It is well worth a visit. Paul & Janeen

We had a nice stay in the cottage, it was comfortable and a good base for being able to explore that part of the country.

The cottage was clean with a nice welcome tray of tea, coffee, sugar, cake, milk and orange juice plus little extras like hand soap, washing up liquid, bits for the dog which were very useful. The paddock is great for kids to play on with climbing frames, slides, trampoline and to exercise the dog, we cleaned up after our dog, unfortunately others haven't been. We found the bedrooms very bright which made sleeping after sunrise tricky and the upstairs floorboards very noisy so anytime the neighbours kids were running round their room it disturbed us. My son liked saying hello to the cows who were very curious about anyone going near them. Thank you to the owners for our stay.

Was so impressed with the location, the cottage itself was beautiful, clean, quiet and had everything you could think of. The kids loved the park and trampolines and watching the cows! Very friendly hosts! Will definitely be returning!

Firstly the cottage was easy to find and it is furnished to a really good standard and exceptionally clean.

There are plenty of countryside walks literally beside the farm and so handy to walk dogs, in our case several times a day. The owners were very friendly and eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible. (Thank you Jeannie & Gary, we will be back!).

Just back from a great week at Farmyard Cottage.

It was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Gary and Jeannie couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.

This property was outstanding in every way.

Very clean loads of facilities and even welcome treats. Very friendly hostel asking each day if we needed anything.

omfy, clean, soft towels and bedding, reclining sofa well stocked kitchen is only the start!

What a beautiful cottage on a lovely farm, our grandson loved seeing the tractors, the cows being fed all from the safety of the children’s playground on site, the downstairs bedroom and shower room, was perfect for our elderly relative, while also providing a double room en-suite upstairs totally private for ourselves, the milk and cake in the fridge was a lovely surprise, to say we were only staying over the weekend, we will definitely be back, such a warm welcoming cottage, near Whitby and Scarborough, THANK YOU

The cottage was in a lovely village instructions spot on, such a lovely homely feel with a well stocked kitchen, onsuite shower rooms excellent, bedrooms and lounge very comfortable.

The owners were so helpful and made us feel at home, would highly recommend.

The cottage was very well equipped in a lovely village.

It was exactly what we wanted to escape the barrage of town/city fireworks for our four legged little buddy.

Would be good to have a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs as no dogs up stairs and it was hard to keep our dog from running upstairs we had to keep her on a lead while we was in the cottage

The house was just ideal for us, we had a great time with the grandkids,play park kept them occupied for hours when we weren’t out and about Ideal location for Whitby and Scarborough,Dalby woods with go ape is only 10 minutes away.

The grapes and providence are two great child friendly pubs within 2 miles The owners live next door and nothing is a problem, We never normally go anywhere twice,but this is on the short list as it was ideal for us Thanks

This was our 2nd visit to Farmyard Cottage and as usual it was perfection.

It is always lovely to know that it's clean, very comfortable and having everything there we need. Everyone on the working farm are friendly and always there if needed. We had lovely walks at goatland and of course a steam train ride is a must, a pleasant walk around pickering and whitby, a swim In the sea for our dog poppy was great. I would recommend anyone wanting to visit this beautiful part and need somewhere to stay choose farmyard cottage you won't be disappointed.

Just wonderful - absolutely perfect for our needs.

Sadly my wife and dog couldn’t make the trip on this occasion, but I know they would have loved it. The kids thought it was fabulous. We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely cottage, home from home, penny our jack Russell was catered for nice to have owners on site very quiet at night never heard the road through the village plenty of places to walk penny and dog bins àround WOULD GO AGAIN TOMORROW

We had a great few days away at your lovely cottage, and being among a working farm.

. Everything we needed was there, it was very clean,tidy and comfortable. We all had really good nights sleeps and the grandchildren loved the play area and playing on the trampoline. Great base to visit local attractions, had a lovely journey at pickering on the steam train and going to Scarborough and whitby. Wished we could have stayed longer but we will definitely return. Thank you so much.

This is smaller of the two cottages.

Lovely cottage with everything you will. Nice touch of tea, cake and milk for something after long drive. The patio area is nice and the kids area up at the field with trampolines and slides and goals was great. Had great week here apart from people staying in the other cottage head NO thought of others around them. Allowing their children to knock on our window . But that not the worst. Owners have in the handbook no noise after 10pm however they where loud well after this and on couple occasions after 12am. We decided to leave a day early as we could not put up with it anymore. Guess we where unlucky. But as said the cottage was amazing. If anything I would update the TV and maybe a whirligig for putting washing out on as the wee white frame not the best

Lovely, cozy cottage ideal for a few days.

It is well equipped and comfortable. My granddaughter adored the cows and went every morning and night to see them. Owners were friendly and helpful, there if you need them.

Great situation, whenever we had a small issue it was solved immediately (like toilet seat).

The cottage was a little smaller than we thought from the pictures, especially the lounge area, but quite adequate.

It was lovely & clean and the showers were excellent. The only thing missing was a serving spoon!

Very welcoming by the owners, tea/coffee milk and a sponge cake on arrival.

Jeanie was very helpful especially when we asked for a couple of things, like the umbrella shade for the garden and some new glasses. Lots of little things like hand soap/washing up liquid and a couple of dishwasher tablets and tea towels/oven gloves provided which all very very useful. Kitchen is really well equipped even weighing scales. Gary even let us go over to his cow sheds to see a newly born calf. Thanks for a great stay.

The only issue with the property was the wi-fi, it worked during breakfast but, was very difficult / impossible to connect to during the evening.

Nothing to do with the property but, the Fish & Chip shop in Pickering (next to the Co-op) can only be described as dreadfull.

A great cottage for exploring East coast and North Yorkshire everything we needed in the house nice and warm even though it was cold outside great to have 2 walk in showers for those with limited ability

We stayed at Farm Yard Cottage for a month whilst our house purchase completed.

It was well equipped, warm and comfortable in November and the owners were very helpful and accomodating to us, our sons and our dog and cat.

Fabulous location

Property not really accessible for wheelchair as asked for.

Farmer/Owner made ramp to enable me to enter property. Shower only accessible with help from daughter. No proper accessible features as requested. However it was clean and comfortable

Owners on site very helpful.

We had problems with internet connection and solved problem when asked. The farmer went out of his way to show grandchild two week old calf.

Although I was aware the property was semi detached I didn't know it was such a large property with the potential to be very noisy if there were children, luckily this was not the case with the week we were there.

I feel there needs to be more information on the website regarding this.

We have stayed in over 30 cottages over the last few years and this cottage is of the highest standard .

would highly recommend to anyone , and will be returning ourselves in the future.
