"Accomodation quirky with annex like a separate self contained flat."
Steps all over so need not to have anyone who trips easy. Welcome basket fabulous touch and the log fire all set up. I loved cooking on the rayburn found the 2 induction hobs more of a challenge. Those who use induction hobs knew what they were doing so fine. 2 big sinks and lots of dishwasher tablets too. Guides to using equipment left out so no problems. Lounge sat the 6 of us comfortably and could at a real push seat 7 or 8 if have children with you. 10 would have to have folks on dining chairs.
Dining tables quirky too as 2 smaller tables we sat as a table of 6 comfortably. Great location put 2mins away walking and had great atmosphere and food good too. The White Horse. Parking a little tricky but managed 3 cars on the street. Would stay again.

"Lovely spacious property that provided excellent accommodation for 3 generations of family."
Excellent sized kitchen and lounge. Separate annexe was a bonus too. Excellent communications with owners, cottage was ready at 10 am on day of arrival. Great central location for the Moors, Dales and the coast, even popped in to Scotland. Thank you for a lovely stay!

"We stayed for 3 nights over the Bank Holiday and loved it!"
Plenty of space and rooms and a really well thought out design for the cottage. Brilliant communication with Madeleine. We loved the cottage and the whole area. We visited both local pubs as well which were also great!
Thank you for coming to stay, and your marvellous review. We really do try hard to make your stay the best, and it’s simply uplifting to hear such a positive review!

We had a problem with the heating but the owner was straight round and it was sorted very quickly. Loads of space. Lots of places to visit and good eateries nearby.

"The property was huge, with lots of space for all of us."
We loved the location and the village. The local pub was wonderful and we had great pizzas there one night. We also used the shop nearly everyday to get essentials we forgot! We found the cooking equipment hard work and did have to move two tables together in the dining room so we could all sit together. Although the property was beautiful, we did find it dirty on our arrival and had to hoover everywhere and clean down the family bathroom where the sink was very dirty with toothpaste. Once we had cleaned we felt at home and enjoyed our family holiday.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your stay at The Old Post Office, we are glad you enjoyed the property and the local area, however, we are a little taken aback by your review as this does not align with our previous wonderful feedback. You mentioned there were cleanliness issues, I checked the property along with our Housekeeper before your arrival and I can confirm it was cleaned to our usual very high standards. We welcome guests to contact us during their stay if there are any issues, but, you did not make us aware of any problems, had you let us know we would have acted on this swiftly. On your departure we did notice some damage in the property that meant we had to hold back a portion of the Good Housekeeping Bond, I am sorry if this was upsetting but we would not be able to continue letting if we did not take recompense for damages, I hope you understand our reasonings behind this.

"Gorgeous property in lovely location."
Really worked well for us with children, parents and elderly grandparents - so if you have family members or friends group who benefit from being able to hang out together or do different things in different rooms it’s ideal as there is so much space. Owner is so kind and helpful. We loved it.

"It was a lovely house, ideal for our family of 9 to get-together."
The village of Ampleforth is charming and there is plenty to do in the area for young and old - even when the weather isn't perfect! The dishwasher was a real boon, and we also used the washing machine a couple of times for our muddy clothes. The children loved the mezzanine floor for games and jigsaws.

"Extremely comfortable property, all commented on excellent beds and quality furnishings."
Rayburn took a bit of getting used to but when combined with other facilities worked well. Only small gripe was that the main lounge area could do with more seating for 9.

"It sleeps 10 people, but only had one big pan so self catering was extremely difficult."
There was not one cupboard in the kitchen to store food, so we had tins bottles, packets and jars. All stacked at one end, it looks like a harvest festival!.
The cottage was mostly clean, a few cobwebs.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable and the furniture, clean and comfortable.
For self caterers, there could do to be a mixing bowl, some serving dishes, and generally more kitchen equipment.
A rolling pin, a food mixer et cetera

"This was our second stay at this wonderful property."
It’s great for family get togethers or a group of friends. The house is very comfortable with plenty of room for kids to play. There is a wonderful cafe across the road which does a great breakfast as well as cakes and food throughout the day. There is so much to visit in the area (North Yorks railway, castle Howard, various national trust properties, national birds of prey centre to name a few) and the house is close to York which is beautiful. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

"Large cottage with plenty of room."
The location is great for the North Yorkshire Moors, Rievaulx Abbey, Helmsley, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, etc and Ampleforth itself is very pretty. The annexe provides private accommodation within a larger house, great for grandparents wanting their own space. Cooking in the large kitchen is on a Rayburn, and the house has all the facilities you'd expect.

"The Old Post Office is a wonderful property for a large group."
It is like a tardis - much bigger than in the photos! Lovely cosy sitting room & sofa. It is in a great location for some beautiful walks and there is a brilliant cafe and pub just over the road. We loved our stay here; the only small thing is that two of the double beds are very small (as well as the one in the annexe) and not really big enough for two adults. Fine for a teenager or child.
