  • "Thank you for a great stay There were really no faults I could think of."

    It was a lovely place with comfortable beds, underfloor heating, amazing shower, TV with all the channels, beautiful garden, all the amenities in the kitchen, the only thing we couldn't find was a bottle opener. An extra special thank you for the Oat Milk, as we are Vegan. Not many places stock plant milks.

  • "We had such a lovely stay at field view!"

    The cottage was perfect, it had everything we needed, very clean and cosy. We would definitely return again! The stairs are very step, and the butcher across the road is amazing. We had breakfast buns and also took a pie home which was amazing!!

  • "We’ve just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at the cottage, it did not disappoint."

    The cottage was spotlessly clean and communication was responsive. The local area is lovely, Sunday roast at the Bridge Inn is a must. A lovely short walk along the railway line to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay is also worth a visit. We will definitely return in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay

  • "We were very happy with cottage and its facilities."

    Location was perfect, footpath opposite led to Cinder path and on to Whitby, only a 35-40 minute walk (£8 in taxi). Best butcher's on the planet also opposite offering some amazing food and a great breakfast and a great local pub just down the road. Lovely enclosed garden with summer house. Would visit again.

  • "The cottage was clean, well equipped and charming."

    The garden, if you're staying in warmer months, is an absolute bonus! Lovely stay all round. Also, Ruswarp is beautiful and there's a lovely walk directly opposite the cottage, ideal if you have a dog. On your doorstep is a superb butchers. Regular buses into Whitby just a few minutes walk away.

  • "We loved Ruswarp."

    Great location to walk the dogs into Whitby and would certainly come back. The house had everything we needed and the garden was a great bonus. During such a lovely hot week we had to have the windows open so did hear the traffic in the morning. Great week had by all

  • "Lovely cottage , great location for walking into Whitby, (footpath opposite the house) The house was well equipped and comfortable, our kids loved the little steep staircases especially the attic room but glad they were older to mange these, wouldn't be easy to manage for very young children ."

    The cottage is steeped in history and the decor is simple , elegant and sympathetic to that, bringing it up to date to but no losing the cottages quirky charm, some beautiful pieces of furniture

  • "Gorgeous character cottage , named parking a two minute walk away ."

    Very well equipped and very clean and comfortable . The enclosed garden with seating , summerhouse , outside loo and large fridge freezer is a bonus . Owners are very quick to reply . Best butcher and deli just across the road plus a walk for the dog . We loved it

  • "We had a lovely stay at Field View."

    It is a lovely old cottage with lots of original features. It is half a hour stroll into Whitby along the railway track, so very handy. The butchers over the road sell some lovely produce but there is no village shop anymore for a full range of items so come prepared .The hidden garden was a plus as we had our dog with us and we loved the cosy wood burner in the evening. The treats were a thoughtful touch thank you. We have already recommended to friends.

  • "What a quaint and lovely cottage, our 3 night stay with our 2 boxer dogs was perfect, The attention to detail with the lovely goodies left for us was incredible…."

    biscuits,a bottle of a good quality soft drink, also provided were ground coffee, 3 types of herbal teabags and dog treats which of course went down very well

  • "Lovely cottage, well equipped & cosy."

    The garden was a great bonus with the sunny seating area. The off-road parking was a bonus, only a 2 minute walk away. My only negative is that the downstairs flooring was in need of update.

  • "Fantastic property with everything we needed for our short stay in Ruswarp."

    Spotlessly clean, well equipped & pleasant cottage, with lovely fully enclosed garden / summer house, that provided easy walking access to Whitby & surrounding areas. First time we've stayed in an "eco friendly" property (solar panels & outside heat pump) that provided for all our needs and more, so no qualms about the technology affecting our enjoyment / comfort. Many thanks to the owners for the stay and we definitely recommend Field View to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Directly opposite is a footpath that leads through open fields and woodland to Whitby town centre or explore The Cinder Track by foot or bike with views of the Larpool Viaduct and Moors.

Soak in spectacular views over the town and the harbour from the beautiful ruins of Whitby Abbey, reached by tackling the celebrated 199 steps, making for a memorable and quintessentially Whitby experience.

For a thrilling, spook-filled afternoon, visit the Dracula Experience Ltd or delve into sea-faring history at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum.

RUSWARP

Whitby 1.5 miles; Sandsend 2.5 miles, Robin Hood's Bay 6 miles.

Situated just 1.5 miles inland from Whitby, the small village of Ruswarp lies on the River Esk, with old stone cottages lining the main street. Ruswarp has excellent amenities, including a local pub with hand-pulled real ales, a village shop and a renowned local butcher. The Esk Valley Walk runs through the village, and it is an easy 25 minute walk to the centre of Whitby. Ruswarp has a regular bus service, and the single track railway has regular steam trains running through! Enjoy an hour’s boating on the river, or feed the local ducks. Arguably the most historic landmark in Ruswarp is the brick-built viaduct. It once supported the main Scarborough to Whitby line. The viaduct is 120 feet high and when it was built it took more than five million bricks to complete. The viaduct was closed in 1965. The viaduct is now known as the cinder track, a walk/cycleway along the former Whitby-to-Scarborough railway line. A perfect location for exploring the surrounding coastline and the dramatic North York Moors.
