  • "The barn was very good."

Well kitted out kitchen, lounge area great for a large group. A real plus having en suites in each bedroom. All beds very comfy.Good position for using as a base. Great having the bus route right outside the door. Even though the barn is on a main road, we weren't trouble with the traffic noise. Host seemed very nice, but had no reason to call on him as everything was absolutely fine. Would have no hesitation on booking he barn again, and recommending to family and friends.

  • "What a lovely property very clean and well equipped in a good location for visiting the east coast area."

We met the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The only thing i would suggest is to have chairs instead of benches at the kitchen table which we found a bit uncomfortable but its a small point and as a group we would recommend a stay here it is a great place for a holiday.

Thank you very much for your feedback, it is always appreciated. Pleased you found the beds comfortable, the double mattress is brand new. We asked for a Goldilocks mattress:- not too hard and not too soft. We must have found it. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely break."

The start was just our family and then friends joined us for a few days too, and the house was perfect for a shared holiday. It was clean and the open plan downstairs was great for keeping an eye on the kids. The garden was a real bonus and even though the weather was very wet it was nice to have outside space for the kids to run around and blow bubbles. The hosts met us on the first day so we knew we could contact them if needed. Thanks for a great stay.

  • "We really enjoyed our short stay."

Everything we wanted was there and the Barn was warm comfortable and very well equipped. The owner/ manager was extremely helpful and we would recommend this property to anybody. Our 8year old Grandson enjoyed the play area at the rear of the property. Might be better to emphasise it is on a main road though. It didn’t cause a problem at all but better to make sure guests are aware. Thanks to all involved..

The coastal path is nearby and there is a good bus service from outside the property.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are pleased that you and your extended family had such a good time. The large open plan of The Barn and with our large gardens the use of two cottages like you arranged can work very well for larger families. Property Owner

The cottage was spotless and very well equipped, a lovely welcome pack was left too. The bedrooms were very comfortable, each with its own bathroom. The tiered garden is lovely (the photos don't do it justice) with a lovely seating area and further up space for children to play, including swings and a tree house! We were not bothered at all by any noise from the road at the front of the house. Thank you for a great stay.

Had everything you needed to self-cater. Bus stop just outside property, however, we did walk into nearby Staithes. Main coastal road so could have used bus service more if we had wanted to. Beautifully decorated and equipped with everything one could ever need on holiday. Ian & Carl obviously take great pride in their property, and their welcome could not have been warmer. Although the location is distanced from surrounding properties, it is within a short car journey from some fabulous scenery, breathtaking walks and fun beach-combing spots. The supermarket in Staithes has an ample offer of groceries. All in all, an ideal spot to completely refuel and refresh. The road running in front of the property is barely audible - we were certainly not disturbed by traffic at night.

About the location

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
