  • "The Shamrock is situated in the beautiful village of Barlby which has a superb small supermarket, pharmacy and The New Inn pub serves delicious food."

We had a fantastic week of weather and toured around all the local attractions in the area. A visit to Selby and a walk around Allerthorpe Lakeland Park are a recommended visit. The accommodation is well equipped, clean and comfortable with everything you need with brilliant parking and also a private fenced grassed garden which our little dog loved. The only downside was the Wi-Fi signal which was very poor.

  • "Excellent , brilliant , loved it ."

Spotless and I've never stayed anywhere so well equipped. Everything you could ever need ,and more , even a torch for last garden visits before bed , which was the most comfortable bed I've slept in . The garden was perfect for my springer spaniel , absolutely secure . Lovely walks from there , buses to York and selby on a request timetable . Easy to drive to other places . I had an amazing week , wish it had been for longer and will definitely be back . The only problem was the WiFi, very intermittent, but the place was so lovely it really wouldn't stop me visiting again . As I said , an absolutely perfect week for me and jess , the springer Spaniel

It has everything you and your doggy friend could wish for... apart from the uncomfortable sofa and chair. When these are replaced it would have an outstanding 10* rating from me.

Very quiet. Good position for visiting around as the village doesn't offer much. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so the cottage was a bit cold. Overall a good experience. Only negative points: later check in and very early check out.

Perfect for four legged friends with an easy clean floor. Really spacious bedroom and bathroom. Ideally situated to get the bus in to York. If I had to pick one thing to improve it would be the couch which wasn’t great for my back. Despite that I’ll be making a return booking.

  • "Lovely place very clean everything that you needed was virtually provided."

The only negative if there is a negative could do with comfy furniture to relax in evenings although there is a settee it wasn't very comfortable and the chair was more fit for a conservatory rather than a lounge. But the bed more than made up for it.

  • "Had a nice quiet stay on the accommodation."

Owner does need to look at the drainage in the wet room and is aware of the problem. WiFi signal itself needs to be improved, the cottage must be too far from the router. Outdoor seating needs to be more comfortable, it's ok for occasional seating. Kettle very slow to boil. But apart from that this is a lovely place, fantastic garden, great location, will use again and recommend 100%
