"We had a comfortable stay in the cottage."
Unfortunately a few things were not up to standard for a 5 tick cottage.
First time we went to use the glasses for a drink, the glasses were dirty and one in particular was very dirty and greasy.
The wok was scratched and dirty, not fit for purpose.
Only one Pyrex dish in the kitchen.
Someone else's clothes were left in the bedroom drawers.
We felt that the property hadn't been checked/cleaned properly between people checking out and new people checking in.
Don't know if they work but there are 3 security cameras overlooking the property from the owners bungalow, and it gave the impression of being spied on while using the outside garden area.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but given that this is a 5 tick graded cottage we were disappointed.
Thank you for your feedback and the opportunity to reply
The comment regarding the property being clean really upset me
Been in hospitality for over 40 years not that I am old just started young
I except to find 2 dark itams of clothing in the back of a drawer pyjamas is not acceptable my apology this happens to me on holiday I just hand in at reception
The kitchen is equipped for 6 people
Never had a complaint been ask for a dishwasher may be one day
The camera's on my personal home in not 3
The camera on holiday cottage is focussed on car park
I assumed you friends/family who had a very smart car would of been happy for
Extra security I know my insurance company is as a live opposite the cottage I do say to all my guests if you need me any concerns please come and see me which the guest did not make me aware of issues
On a good note I do hope the big event plans for September gos Pperfectly

"We absolutely loved the cottage."
Both Phil and Jackie made us feel most welcome and there was also a lovely welcome pack for us. Everything in the cottage was of good quality and very carefully and thoughtfully thought about.
We must have known before we booked but it was absolutely wonderful to have two bathrooms. Me and my husband took one each so that we could be indulgent.
The cottage also has a garden and summerhouse (which we did not use) which is beautifully tended.
The parking is also an additional bonus, which made parking very easy.
There is a lovely little beck that runs through the village which, as it rained all day on Wednesday, became a little faster flowing. We did not take the risk of driving through it but just went the other way.
The cottage is based in a good location for visiting. We went to Richmond, Barnard Castle, Hartlepool Royal Naval Museum, Raby Castle and High Force - all thoroughly enjoyable.
We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone.

"This was our 2nd visit to Magnolia Cottage."
The reason for our return was that this is a very well kept, clean and cosy cottage. All needs are well catered for.
The summer house is a perfect addition to the cottage. Great for some quiet time.
The village is small and quiet, however, the local pub and village shop are ideal.
The added bonus is that the cottage is only 5 minutes from the motorway which takes you down to South Yorkshire and up to County Durham and beyond. Lots to do and see for all the family. You won't be bored.
More importantly, the lovely owners live just across the street and are on hand if needed.
We are currently looking at re-booking next year. Well done Jacky and Phil.

"My first impression was that the cottage was cosy, seemed recently modernised and spotlessly clean."
The owner lives just across the road and came to check things were OK as soon as she saw us arrive. The welcome pack of tea etc was a lovely touch, as was the box containing guides to local attractions. For a cold and wet week in March the cottage kept us warm. Two rooms, each with an en-suite, was perfect for us. The bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of space to hang/store clothes and I was pleased there was a hairdryer. The kitchen was well equipped and having a freezer as well as fridge turned out to be more useful than I expected. Barton itself hasn't much in the way of facilities but the proximity to the A1(M) and Scotch Corner gave us plenty of scope for days out. We had a lovely week and would happily return to Magnolia Cottage.

"Magnolia cottage is a hidden gem situated in the small, picturesque village of Barton in north Yorkshire."
The very friendly owners live just across the street and are on hand should you need anything. The cottage was clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and had the most comfortable beds. The added bonus was that both bedrooms have their own ensuite bathroom. The recently redesigned garden and summer house is ideal if you need some "time out" and personal space. The village has a well stocked local shop, the Half Moon pub ( no food, just good beer) ! and a travelling fish and chip van on a Tuesday. The cottage ideally situated for visiting County Durham and Yorkshire as the A1 and Scotch Corner is only a few miles away. We explored the local area which is steeped in railway history, visited the Tanhill Inn, the highest pub in the UK and Newby Hall ( recommend the guided tour) which has an excellent permanent dolls house collection, beautiful gardens, miniature railway, boat rides and a not too shabby cafe ! All-in-all we had a very good all round holiday experience and plan to return soon.

There was a hamper of essentials such as bread, milk, cheese, biscuits, coffee, etc plus a bottle of wine; toiletries in the en suites and boxes of tissues in all the rooms. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night as it was a quiet area. An easy to use wood burning stove in the sitting room was an additional pleasure on the chilly evenings although the central heating was very efficient anyway. The cottage was just a short easy drive to Richmond and then onwards into the Yorkshire Dales and the delights of Reeth, Muker, Leyburn, Hawes and the Wensleydale cheese factory, plus Masham and Bedale. Although there was a local pub it didn't serve food but four miles away the pub at Stapleton served delicious food of every nation. All in all this was a delightful holiday and comfortable cottage.

"What can you say about Magnolia cottage in the lovely and friendly village of Barton."
Firstly you could not ask for a better standard of accommodation which has been well thought out and equipped with all you require be it a short or longer stay. Its location for exploring the nearby towns and villages could not be better and if you want to take the fast rout with its proximity to the M1/A1 you can reach most places of interest in less than an hour. For fuel would head to either Morrison's or Sainsbury in Darlington about 6 miles away as much cheaper that the service stations on the motorway. If eating at the Bridge inn (3.2 miles away) beware the portion sizes as they are huge and probably best to book to be sure of a table.
