  • "Fantastic upside down property in a small village about 3 miles away from pubs and shops."

Bedrooms were really comfortable with their ensuite bathrooms. Suited us 3 adults. Kitchen extremely well equipped (even managed to cook a full Sunday roast!). Hosts live next door, so on hand if you need anything and they are extremely helpful. A peaceful spot - no road noise, in fact no noise at all!! About 20 mins to the Park and Ride for York. We managed to do the Wolds, Moors and Dales all in a week! Great spot for seeing it all. Walks from the door. We hope to do a return trip.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you so much for taking the time to review our cottage. Look forward to seeing you all again in the future. Richard and Christine Property Owner

  • "This is a tasteful conversion, nicely furnished and reasonable quality materials used in the refurbishment."

The showers are good and plenty of hot water is 'on tap'. Self-catering is easy with a single oven and halogen hob. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal - all you need is the food! Nearest supermarket we found was in Polkington... The cottage owner greeted us on arrival and offered his assistance if we needed it. There was fresh milk in the fridge and fresh scones, Jam and clotted cream to start the holiday... The location is quiet... very quiet. There are no pubs or shops within walking distance so it is essential to have a vehicle to hand... a bike, a motor bike or car etc. There is a café adjacent to the cottage which is open Thursday-Sunday; we didn't use it but it looked okay from the outside.

Many thanks for your great review. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a peaceful idyllic setting."

It was well equipped and very clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable and we liked that there were 2 showers available, saved us waiting for the kids to finish! Lovely welcome folder with information about the property and things to do in the area and the owners had left a tray with scones, tea and coffee and even milk in the fridge so we could have a cuppa when we arrived - most thoughtful! We are looking forward to a return visit.

  • "Joiner’s Cottage is the perfect holiday cottage to visit and tour in and around Yorkshire."

It is close to many historic sites like York, Beverly, Hull, etc. it is also easy access to the coast and the moors. The cottage itself has everything you need and is comfortable and cozy. There is also a delightful coffee shop attached that serves coffee, tea, and desserts, as well as a light lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already recommended it to family and friends. We will stay there again when we return to Yorkshire in future.

Owners were very friendly and helpful but never intrusive. Lovely lunch in their "Coffee and Coe". Can't think of anything other than good things. Great location for visiting York via Park and Ride and lots of other places accessible too.

  • "We had a really good time here, in a cottage ideally suited to two couples or a couple with children."

Richard and Christine were kind and helpful hosts and the village was very pleasant. Having been set up only in September 2022 for holiday let, the cottage was in really good order and Richard, a retired joiner, has converted his old workshop magnificently, with some of the furniture and the staircase all his own (excellent) work.

  • "What a gorgeous cottage with an exceptional view in the countryside."

We wish we had been able to stay longer. Such peace and quiet. We were taking our son to start University in York and found Joiners Cottage the perfect refuge before the business of moving him in. We were able to leave all of our son’s belongings safely in the car just outside. Such a bonus! All of the furniture and equipment was spotless and excellent quality, with instructions in hand. Lovely to meet our host who very kindly posted my husband’s Jacket to us after it was forgotten when we left. We shall return.
