Set in a quiet rural farming area in the tiny hamlet of Birkby just six miles north of the bustling market town of Northallerton, is this superb period cottage.

Behind the property is an historic 18th century century listed church.

Dating back to the late 19th century, this property has been extended and renovated into a stylish and contemporary holiday home for friends and families, whilst still managing to retain some of its original features such as the brick inglenook fireplace.

You can enjoy a relaxing evening together as a family in the sitting room and take advantage of the provided TV and DVD player and bring all your favourite film classics to watch.

Walk through the open-plan living space, where you can curl up with your loved ones and unwind, cook up some delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen or gather at the dining table, which extends to seat seven comfortably.

This makes a wonderful social space for the whole family to dine together with a pleasant outlook over the large sloping garden.

You can discover three bedrooms, set up as a king-size, twin bedded and family room with a king-size bed, single and sofa bed for an additional guest (sleeps six max.) Each bedroom comes with its own traditional furnishings for storing personal items.

Benefit from a family bathroom and shower room, so you can choose how best to prepare for your day.

Externally, the property has access to a peaceful, secluded country cottage garden with a gravelled terrace where you may sit out in the afternoon sun or enjoy looking across open farmland adjacent to the garden where sheep peacefully graze.

The garden beyond the fenced terrace is maintained as an extensive grassed area sloping down to mature trees.

While you are in the area, travel into the bustling market town of Northallerton where you can dine and sample traditional Yorkshire delicacies, or gather ingredients from supermarkets for an evening meal.

Within comfortable driving distance, are the splendid, historic cathedral cities of Durham and York, hosting a number of popular tourist attractions and a unique experience for a day trip.

Close to the scenic Yorkshire Dales and beautiful North York Moors, you are well-placed for exploring picturesque villages, wild flower meadows, open moorland with an abundance of walking and cycling routes.

Further afield the beauty of the Lake District and Yorkshire coastline can be discovered.

Northallerton is a County town and administrative centre of North Yorkshire, located at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas, the Wiske and the Cod Beck, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Vale of York, between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales. This thriving town boasts market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when both sides of the High Street are home to stalls selling a wide range of goods and produce, plus on the fourth Wednesday of the month the market is joined by a farmers' market.
