Roseberry Cottage

We had a lovely stay at Rosebury Cottage.

It’s a lovely little house in an excellent location, right in the heart of Robin Hood’s Bay. The outside space was really nice and welcoming, and the amenities and cleanliness were both excellent. The main thing to be aware of is access. The road down to the cottage is narrow, and although you can drive down to drop off luggage, you’ll need to carry your bags the rest of the way. The cottage itself is an older building, so the stairs and access are quite tight, and taller guests will need to watch their heads in places. It may not be the best fit for anyone with mobility issues or who struggles with stairs and uneven access. We stayed with our children, aged five and seven, and they were absolutely fine. There was already a stair gate fitted, which was a great bonus and gave us extra peace of mind. Overall, we had a great stay. It’s a lovely, well-equipped and clean cottage in a fantastic location, and we’d happily recommend it and stay again!

The mattress in the Master bedroom was completely worn out so much so that I sank to the base of the bed.

Which resulted in a very rough sleepless night. Luckily one of my twins was prepared to let me sleep in his bed. Obviously I would have preferred to sleep in the Master bedroom. A similar complaint was raised as far back as 2022 but unfortunately the owner took no action on this. The cottage was very cosy and tasteful furnished. Although the armrests on the sofa were rock hard which made it difficult to relax in. All the cutlery was in very short supply which was inconvenient. We did however appreciate the very generous welcome pack and the hand washes throughout the property. The bath plug kept dislodging itself when we were moving in the bath which was annoying. The top floor walk-in shower was very temperamental was the temperature kept changing. One of my twin sons had a little accident in the bed which prompted the owner to block us from booking. We find this extreme action very unfair and disappointing.

Enjoyed our seven day stay in Roseberry Cottage which had everything you needed, comfy bed,hot shower and cosy living room, The standout is the balcony for drinking coffee/Wine depending on time of day and simply watching the world go by!. Plenty of walks and eating places nearby, and good to see the Dolphin back open. Lovely restful relaxing stay! Thanks for the welcome pack. Hope to return to the Bay soon.

Roseberry was very comfortable and well appointed.

It had everything we needed for our week’s stay. Having the terrace over the beck was perfect for people watching and the central location meant we were close to the shop and pubs. Having two bathrooms was really useful with four adults. Showers worked well with plenty of hot water. There were lots of towels. Owner was helpful and in touch to check we had sufficient towels etc. The cottage comes with a parking permit for the top car park which is very useful.

Very cosy cottage in a unique location.

Built in a bygone world. Overall we were very happy with the cottage and Robin Hoods Bay. The parking permit for parking up the hill is great. The unloading and reloading of the car is a challenge given the lack of space and other vehicles. Would have appreciated a clear indication of the presence of the cul de sac. Overall a charming location and cottage but maybe not quite what i expected regarding access.

The location for the accommodation was perfect as was the size for a family of 3.

We were contacted by the owner on the day with parking instructions which was followed up by a text which was gratefully received. We were lucky with some great weather which meant we were able to sit out on the balcony for breakfast and late evening to enjoy the sights and sounds around us. RHB has lots of offerings the beach, (food - the cove for breakfast), (drinks - the dolphin) but is also in a prime spot for visits to Whitby, Scarborough and Sandsend. One thing we would have been interested in knowing a little more on was the age / history of the cottage. Hopefully we will visit again.

This is a lovely quaint cottage in a fabulous location.

The living area is quite small but it had everything we needed. It was exceptionally cosy and warm. The bedroom was comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep. There are steps down into the property and a winding staircase up to the bedroom which were fine for us but it’s worth noting may not suit everyone. The shower in the double bedroom was great with plenty of hot water. And there were lovely gifts awaiting us in the cottage too. We had a lovely relaxing time!!

Whilst acknowledging that describing the cottage as typical fisherman's this does not mention aspects which may well make the cottage unsuitable to the elderly and infirm.

The parking arrangement of having to use two very busy public car parks at the top of a hill which has a long 1 in 3 gradient whilst moving your luggage in is a real chore. One needs to be resourceful to avoid lugging luggage up on the hill on arrival and departure. The bedroom on the third level is not easy to access up stairs with no door. The entrance ceiling is only about 4 1/2 feet high. Crawling in and out is the best method. It was nevertheless a wonderful cottage and location overall.

A quaint cottage in a lovely part of Robin hoods bay,the cottage was very clean,and the welcome pack was a bonus,very kind of the owner.

The cottage needed more lighting inside on the ground floor as it was quite dark. Definitely needed a bath mat in the shower and bath as both slippy when wet and potentially dangerous. Good location for beach,restaurants and shops.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful cottage.

Our second stay at Roseberry cottage and we loved our stay.

The cottage is so cosy and in a perfect location. Everything is spotlessly clean. Lots of treats left for us by Glenis. Lots of lovely walks around Robin Hoods Bay. We had great weather and were able to use the balcony at the cottage. Enjoyed meals at Brambles Bistro. Fish and chips at the top of the steps.

The cottage is in a great location within the Bay and is equipped with everything you could need. It's extremely clean and recent updates ( carpets, sofa, bathroom tiling) has added to the quality. The little balcony allows for sitting outside and watching folk wander by whilst having a cuppa or a glass of wine. Thoroughly recommend.

Roseberry Cotrage is simply beautiful and was everything we hoped for.

.. and more. Owner Glenis was extremely attentive, phoning to let us know that the cottage was ready early and, as we eventually arrived after dark she made sure the outside light was on. We had an amazing welcome pack which we appreciated immensely and the cottage was so clean, with everything we needed for our lovely break such as coffee, soap and bubble bath. We also slept very well in comfy beds. We enjoyed a couple of a beautiful meals at the Victoria and Grosvenor hotels, fabulous pizza from The Smugglers and a couple of lovely light lunches at The Bay Hotel. Overall, this was an amazing place to stay. Thanks.

Roseberry cottage was just what we were looking for: cosy, comfortable and perfectly located in the heart of the lower village.

Parking arrangements were straightforward - though there is much to enjoy locally on foot: the walking route north to Whitby (with the option of returning by bus) and a wonderfully scenic circular route south to Ravenscar are particularly recommended. Our host was always available for help and advice as necessary both before and during our stay, contributing to a most relaxing break.

We really enjoyed our stay in this quirky little cottage.

Very clean and lots of extras provided, tea, coffee, milk, chocolate, wine, and even bubble bath, which was very much appreciated after long walks and the steep hill ! Robin hoods Bay and the surrounding area are lovely to visit any time of the year. It might have been November but we were determined to have a little glass of wine on the balcony and people watch ! Brambles Bistro, Smugglers and The Cove recommended. Thank you for our short break.

This is our second stay at Roseberry Cottage and we loved it just as much as the first time, if not more.

The cottage is cosy, and well equipped. There wasn’t anything that we needed that wasn’t all ready there, and the welcome gifts were a nice touch too. The location is fabulous.

Roseberry is a delightful cottage and in a perfect location within RHB.

We enjoyed our stay here and everything we needed was available in the cottage. It was warm and, on the whole, very comfortable. The only negatives we found were a missing light pull cord in the top bedroom and the sofa was not particularly comfortable to relax on.

We loved the balcony where we sat with our G&T's in the evenings watching the world go by. The gift pack on arrival was beautiful touch, we will definitely be returning. Thankyou very much Glynnis.

The property was excellent with everything you need for a fab holiday home from home.

It was well equipped and a short walk to the pub and beach with an added extra of an outside space when the sun was out. The beds were comfy,with an en suite for each bedroom so avoiding the steep stairs when half asleep! The doors were small which added to its quirkiness but could catch you out if you don't remember to duck. The owner called me early to let me know the property was ready and to let me know where the parking permit was. Would love to stay here again!

(the balcony is an added bonus)The beds are comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean. Close to the shops and places to eat. Enjoyed our stay here and definitely reccomend this cottage.

Gorgeous little cottage that has all mod cons but retains the quirks of a typical RH Bay cottage.

The cottage is very well equipped and close to the amenities, contact with the owners is easy especially after my little accident with a glass which I had broken the owner was very understanding.

Close to the village shop that sells almost everything we needed. Would highly recommend and we will return. Everything was managed well.

There was everything we needed for a great week . The location was perfect, very close to the sea and places to eat. The description on Sykes website was very accurate, and the owner was extremely helpful and friendly.

Amazing place, amazing cottage and an amazing stay at Christmas time!

We honestly couldn’t have asked for more to be honest. The owner was amazing with our stairgate request for our 2 year old, we had wifi so Netflix was a god send with a 2 year old for the odd bit of relaxing time getting her chilled out for bedtime and obviously Christmas films. It’s in an ideal location and the balcony was really nice for some wine and cheese/crackers.

We was welcomed by the owner and what a lovely person.

We didn’t realise we had to carry bags down the hill to the cottage.once I the cottage we felt very comfortable and the wine and chics was so nice. We spent a week here and have some amazing memories we will be booking again for next year.

The Cottages was comfortable.

The description made it very clear that the property was old and with steep stairs. Loved the balcony it was warm and sheltered. Just one suggestion it would be useful if the Belfast sink in the kitchen could have a plastic bowl. As there were only the two of us and we ate out quite alot we didn't use the dishwasher. A really enjoyable holiday thank you.

Absolutely fantastic experience.

The cottage was immaculate, well presented and thoroughly equipped (the best I've seen so far). The owner was very easy to contact and a pleasure to communicate with. On the day we were due to depart back home, a lorry had broken down on the main narrow road into the bay for the whole day, meaning we were unable to drive home out of the Bay from where we had parked the car. The owner of the cottage went above and beyond, being so generous to let us to stay an extra evening at only the cost price of cleaning (very fair). This was taken care of very quickly and was a huge relief that we had a place to stay the night, especially one as nice as Roseberry Cottage. I absolutely recommend this cottage.

Location perfect, cottage had everything we needed, and was perfect for our short break for 3 adults. The owners thoughtful welcome pack, including wine was a lovely touch. Heating was very good, and warmed up the cottage nicely in the chilly April evenings. TV signal and Wifi were excellent. We'd definitely recommend.

This is a beautiful, charming, tiny cottage in fabulous surroundings.

The owner was extremely helpful and the cottage was extremely well equipped. Anyone with physical limitations needs to be made clearly aware of the challenges of access in Robin Hood's Bay, but for us it was just perfect.

Roseberry Cottage really is lovely.

The balcony is such a wonderful place to sit and relax watching the world go by. The position of the cottage is excellent. Right in the middle of the village but still lovely and quiet. Slept like a log all week. The only thing missing is a washing machine which I think would be better than a dish washer but that’s just personal preference. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Had a lovely holiday in Bay in this cottage, everything good and the balcony was a bonus.

Robin Hood Bay is a beautiful, traditional, cobbled village & Roseberry Cottage sits perfectly at the centre.

Roseberry cottage is traditional, quirky, comfortable and bijou.

What a great find Roseberry cottage is, it's a period cottage which means low ceilings and steep stairs.

The cottage is beautifully presented and is a credit to the owner; it's situated 3/4 of the way down a very steep hill which means you have to be reasonably fit to stay here. It is well equipped and provisions (tea bags, bread etc) have been left for you, most welcome after a long journey. Parking is sometimes an issue, as the car park at the top of the hill is extremely busy, so even with a parking permit you are not guaranteed a parking space. All in all a great place to stay.

A lovely cottage with e excellent amenities

Cosy, quirky cottage in a perfect place for exploring Robin Hoods Bay.

It was ideal for the two of us. The town itself was very busy, more than usual according to shop owners, and there was not a lot of social distancing going on. Because of this, and a local Covid outbreak, we didn't venture to Whitby or Scarborough.

Brilliant position half way down the hill

A lovely small cottage set near the bottom of the village.

If you are after a great setting in the bay this is for you. However, if you area light sleeper then the seagulls, pigeons and dustbin men will wake you up very early. The facilities and kitchen equipment were fantastic but small (fridge very small), we brought extra equipment as usually they aren’t always this good- even sharp knifes. There is also a dishwasher which wasn’t advertised, bonus! Lots of soap and the cottage was very clean. We would have liked more information on parking before we arrived as we were unaware how inaccessible the cottage was from the car. It’s a good 15-20 minute walk down a very steep hill. We are young but if you like to have your car near by you haven’t got a chance. We had never been to the bay before and would have probably booked something else due to this. It also meant my parents had to cancel their visit to the bay as one of them uses a powered scooter and it would have never got down to the bay/cottage. The area is great for running and walking and kids love the beach

Visited the bay on several occasions now and feel more and more at home each time.

We had a problem with parking and ended up with a parking ticket because we parked on the wrong car park.

(The owners generously shared the cost of this with us.) This was partly our fault for not reading the owners' info thoroughly enough, but this was because we thought we had sorted out the correct car park before we read it. It needs to be emphasised before clients depart for their holiday which two car parks can be used and their locations and which one can't be used. Unfortunately the one that can't be used is nearest to the property. Apart from this, we enjoyed staying in the property and the village and the surrounding area.

Really enjoyed our stay.

Very surprised to walk in and find a welcome pack (prosecco, chocs, fruit, bread, milk), it was a lovely touch. The cottage had everything we could possibly need. Very impressed that it had a smart tv as it gave us connectivity to netflix etc which if the weather isnt great outside means there is entertainment for all the family. Great location to beach, shops, pubs, chippy, & great chilling on the balcony watching the world go past.

Beautiful historic cottage in a perfect location for wandering through the winding streets or taking a stroll on the beach.

The owners were very helpful and left amazing welcoming gifts which went down a treat with everyone. We travelled as a party of four, 2xadults and 2xchildrens (aged 4 & 8) and we had just enough room to be comfortable. The bedrooms were perfectly sized and well appointed, just a little bit of a squeeze in the living room when we wanted to sit together. The kitchen had everything we needed and each bedroom had a hairdryer. Overall could not fault this property, loved the quirky nature of the building and the location couldn't be better!

They need to put wifi code in the folder.

Was really clean and tidy, well equipped kitchen, loved the balcony of a Morning for a cup of tea. Near to everything, the welcome gifts went down really well. Superb, well recommended.

This looks to be a brand new let, which is furnished to a very high standard.

Other visitors looked up at our detached cottage with it's own veranda enviously!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the cottage.

Best nights sleep I've had in a long while! And to be in the middle of the town within thirty seconds walk from the beach and restaurants is an added bonus. The only question to ask yourself is why AREN'T you booking already?

The cottage was in a great location, right in the centre of the village - 2 min from the beach, the pub and several sweet shops, to the delight of our children!

We felt like being part of the village for a week, which was great. The cottage was very comfortable and warm. We would have preferred a washing machine to a dishwasher because of the awkward place it was in and we would have liked a few more cutlery items and plates. Apart from that, it was great and Glenys was very helpful. There are several possible walks from the cottage (following Cleveland Way) and the views are stunning. We came across a colony of seals just below Raven Hall - it was just magical. We hope to come back again.

This property was tasteful in decor and immaculate throughout.

It had all the facilities you might want in and area of wonderful character. The terrace with the stable door was an added bonus as it added both sunlight and a pleasant place to sit.

What a lovely cottage.

Small but perfect. It had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend, including a bottle of prosecco! It was beautifully and tastefully decorated, with lovely seaside touches and very, very clean. It's location was great, just close enough to a drop off point to be able to walk our luggage to the cottage and close to pubs, a shop and the beach. The owners were also extremely helpful with any queries we had. We even had a little balcony to enjoy the spring sunshine. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Roseberry Cottage is all you could ask for.

It had all the facilities we needed. The balcony is a great place to sit in the morning in full sunshine. Another important factor, the owner is so easy to deal with and very accommodating.
