The Emberton

We stayed here in July 2026, we had a lovely stay at this property, although we had a few issues, but didn't effect our Holiday.

1.Over grown flowers to front of the house 2. Stains to some pillows 3. Mattress in one room dips in the middle 4. No Mop so we had to buy one! 5. Cleaning not very good on arrival, Kitchen still appeared dirty 6. Shower room on ground floor had a smell to it. Even with these small issues, we as a family of 9 had a lovely stay! close to the beech, and an easy walk down the front to the centre. Even with these issue, it would not put us off from staying here again, due to the location!.

We had a lovely holiday in this property, the position is fantastic with sea views and a short walk to the seafront or cliff top walk.

With a couple of pubs in walking distance. The house is spacious and comfortable. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to use the patio, the lawn had not been cut and was a little overgrown. The wheelie bins were virtually full when we arrived, this was probably due to the rota for collection in the property being out of date and collection days had changed. We consequently also missed bin day and then worked this out. A couple of little maintenance jobs around the property that are needed. Overall a good holiday.

Very disappointed on arrival to find that all the wheelie bins were full and some contained the wrong items after looking on the local council website we worked out which days to put them out for collection and managed to get the two blue bins emptied and put the brown one out as we left on friday.

The grass was very long in the back garden and had obviously not been cut for a long time there was a dead tree leaning against the garage door which made parking more difficult too. There is peeling paint and damp in the porch and lounge area , there are several blown window panes and the bathroom window doesnt open at all , i think sykes should inspect properties from time to time to ensure they are in a good condition and the photographs are representative of the current state of the property. The property was very spacious and the beds were very comfotable lots of equipment for self catering in the kitchen large fridge and freezer , and the sea views were lovely we enjoyed our stay in Bridlington .

The house overall was great fab location for walking into Sowerby and Bridlington.

The owner was very accommodating we arrived early and were allowed to park on the drive whilst we went for a meal. The drive only has 1 drop kerb which made it awkward for getting on and off the drive. The house could do with some tlc, in the living room around the windows shows signs of damp and the paint is peeling off the wall. The kitchen is very well equipped and has everything you could need. All the upstairs bedrooms are well presented, large and comfortable. We had a very enjoyable stay.

We absolutely loved our holiday - the house was so homely and had everything we needed.

Perfect for an extended family holiday and of course the location is amazing, right across from the beach and the land train stop. Would definitely use again!

Hi, the house is in a lovely location, easy to find and easy to access the key.

The view of the sea is amazing and so near the flat prom for morning and evening walks. We have used Sykes before so were a little disappointed not to find a welcome pack, as we have always had one before. The Kitchen equipment is very up to date and it would have been helpful if the instructions for use were left out. Again it would be more helpful if up to date information on recycling and bin collection was available. Both blue bins were full and we did manage to find the council web site and get them out on the right day. The garden is very dog friendly and a lovely size but it does need some attention. A little TLC would go a long way. We did enjoy our few days there, we were lucky with the weather, lots of sunshine but very windy.

Amazing Holiday!

The house and garden were big, comfortable and well furnished. There was everything you needed and more. The location was excellent, very close to the beach and sewerby hall. To the owners thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful house.

Upon arrival we found one off the rooms was clearly not made up ready for use due to an issue with the previous occupants.

This meant we had to contact sykes to sort this issue out waiting for a new mattress to be sorted which was smaller than the divan also the 2 bathrooms had locks on the doors that didn't work and as our group was 4 couples it could have caused some privacy issues. The downstairs shower room window would not close.

Great property in a lovely location, everything provided that you could need.

Comfortable beds, very clean, nice big garden for the dogs to enjoy and just over the road from cliff walk with fabulous views. Would definitely return x

Great House for our Adult Family Break.

Good location near the beach and cliff walks. House had all you could need for cooking, and general day to day enjoyment. Being picky, no kitchen or bathroom cleaning products. No soap. A pint of milk and a welcome tray always gets the holiday off to a good start. Thank goodness for goggle search for sorting out how to work the items that had no handbook. eg. dishwasher.

The location is excellent for the town, Land Train and getting to other locations such as Filey, Scarborough etc. We have stayed several times before at different times of the year and it has always been an enjoyable holiday.

Had a lovely family break for a special birthday, would highly recommend your beautiful art deco property.

Excellent position with beautiful views and beach on your doorstep

This was our second visit to the emberton for our family of 8 plus 2 dogs.

We had a wonderful long weekend celebrating my dad's 80th birthday. The property has a lovely homely feel, and has plenty of space for a large group to be together, but also areas to escape for a bit of peace! Some of the blind slats kept dropping off when opened, but apart from that, the decor and furnishings are sound and not at all tired looking like some properties we have stayed in. The garden is large and secure for dogs which is a huge bonus. There is room for 3 cars on the front, however the kerb is only dropped at one side. The other side could really do with a ramp as it is a high kerb and my car struggled to get up it without burning rubber! The emberton is full of character, and is in an enviable location just a couple of minutes from the beach. It is lovely to see the sea from the living room and front bedrooms. We plan to have many more trips to the emberton in future. This was a special weekend, and one that required sunglasses instead of wellies which was an added bonus!

House was freezing when we arrived.

The thermostat (which was supposed to be on the landing) wasn't in the location specified. It took over an hour to find it, searching everywhere upstairs, the kitchen, the utility room, downstairs bedroom, before eventually finding it hidden under Christmas decorations on top of the fireplace. The TV was unusable. None of the radiators worked in either of the ensuite bedrooms, rendering them uninhabitable. Oh, and the boiler's "temperamental", so even if you have the thermostat, you may still not have heat and may (yes, that did take it to nearly 2 hours before we had any heat) have to reset the boiler - using the instructions provided. Anyway, enough of the positives. The fire requires an app (eTouch app), which requires a QR code to scan to link the application to your device - there's no QR code. The downstairs shower, doesn't drain quickly enough, so if you have the shower on for more than 30 seconds, you're at risk of soaking the carpet outside the bathroom. The upstairs shower has a door that is near impossible to move, but as neither of the ensuites have any heating, it's unlikely you'll use them anyway in Winter. A new TV was ordered, so we only had two days without a TV, it arrived 8:20am, with no warning that a TV was being delivered and we needed to be to accept delivery. There's no screwdrivers, so I had to attach the legs by hand. Contacting the "assistance" was not particularly useful, OK, they resolved a non-working TV, but for anything else, provided neither assistance, support or answers. 33 Wheatley Drive isn't far away and that is a much better property, so if I was you - I'd try book that.

First , nice new shower and toilet downstairs , toilet leak on to the floor when flushed , dishwasher not working , a pain when there are seven of us staying , but love the house , third time we have stayed , jon

First thing to say is this property is all about location and space, it ticks those boxes, it was perfect from that perspective.

What let it down was things other guests have mentioned. The shower door in the front bedroom needs fixing, I was able to open and close it for my wife but less able people will struggle. The shower unit is also not functioning properly, the shower head keeps dropping. Then we come to the large bedroom at the back of the house on the left with the super king. Guests are asked to strip the bed probably not a wise ask, because the duvet was disgusting, there was what looked like blood on it and heavily stained. Then the bed itself was really badly stained, hopefully it was large sweat stains and not urine. A mattress protector is needed. This isn’t travel lodge this is an expensive stay, so you expect a minimum standard, this didn’t reach that. These things can be easily fixed and I’d suggest these are sorted. I took photos of the bed.

First of all we had a great time in bridlington , overall the house was great small things let it down , downstairs shower drain blocked water runs to the hallway carpet soaking it , 1st bedroom on left bedside lights but no sockets to plug into , 2nd bedroom on left shower door hard to move , sink loose , the hoover bag was full and smelled no spare bags .

This property is fantastic, with a smart layout that works really well.

The back garden is a real highlight, featuring a large table with plenty of seating—perfect for soaking up the sun. It’s nicely sheltered by trees, too, which helps block out the wind. Inside, the place feels modern, especially the kitchen, which is really impressive. Everything was spotless, and the owners have clearly invested in top-quality beds, bedding, and pillows—making a huge difference for a comfortable night's sleep. The location is hard to beat, right on the beachfront and just a 20-minute walk to Bridlington town center. Highly recommended!

We took my autistic grandson who is 6 the garden was great for him safe and secure plenty of room to run around there were bucket spades for beach toys books dvd's they thought of every thing .

The house was so spacious he loved running about , The kitchen had every thing you would need even a dish washer but the fridge was perfect family size it was great to have a freezer as well and a washer could not fault it definitely recommend it we loved it I had the downstairs bed room as I can't get up stairs also down stairs shower and toilet also up stairs bath and toilet bed rooms was large the holiday was fantastic

We are glum!

We had to leave this wonderful place, perfectly set in between the (frankly) tacky town centre and the marvellous peaceful cliff top walk it couldn’t go wrong. The beautiful preserved art deco exterior made the house stand out, (we expected Poirot to amble in at any time) yet the interior had every modern convenience. We could want for almost nothing. The only improvement I would like to see would be the installation of an EV charger, luckily they could be found minutes away on the sea front. We loved it!!!

I’ll start with the 1 star I gave that’s for the location close to the beach .

So we arrived there was a big crack on one of the toilet seats my granddaughter sat on it , it bloke in half . The blinds were hanging of the once that were left that is the bed sheets were so worn they were a greyish colour we actually left on the Thursday as we couldn’t lie another night on the beds so uncomfortable and the mattress was badly stained . There is some seating in the garden but you can hardly see them for the trees so overgrown we payed 1,800 pound for this holiday definitely isn’t worth it and won’t be back I never ever write reviews but felt I had to .

The Emberton is a good sized holiday property.

It is in a good position and the fixtures and fittings are of good quality ( ie; tv, furniture, carpets, bedding, table &chairs;, cooker, ch &plenty; of hot water.) Now to bad points. The internal art deco door you see in the pics drags on the carpet so can't open it properly and it won't close. The curtain rail in the lounge has dropped and the curtains are 4 inches too long. The patio doors have blown sealed units as do most of the windows in the house. The kitchen floor is laminate and is split broken and raised to easily trip you up so that you fall head first onto the marble work tops. The washing machine is filthy inside we tried to clean it but gave up. The mirror glass wardrobe is broken from end to end. The toilet in the on suite has a broken flush and the cistern is not fitted to the wall so it moves and sways. The shower enclosure door has come off the bottom rail so hard to close and leaves a gap at the top. The window in the art deco bathroom is jammed so no ventilation. And now to the garden. Who is the gardener, Stevie Wonder?????? Weeds growing through the slabs, lawn uncut, daisies and weeds in the lawn and dog poo visible, borders badly overgrown, I would say for as least 2 years, bottom of garden out of bounds as it is wild and presents precarious especially for children. Trees overhanging very low onto the playing lawn. Whoever the gardener is sack him. Believe me I am not a moaner, but for the high four figure sum of money I paid for this holiday I expect all these maintenance issues to be resolved. It appears the owners play no part in the day to day running of this holiday home. What a shame , it could be wonderful. I have given it 2 stars, one for position and one for quality of furniture. My second let down with Sykes. Perhaps I'll try another company .

The property is in a fantastic location with lovely sea views.

We were a family of mixed ages with a disabled gentleman. The downstairs room was great for him, unfortunately he was unable to use the wet room as there was no seat. Some areas of the property were lovely, other areas were tired and in need of some maintenance particularly the kitchen floor which needs replacing as it is damaged and becoming a trip hazard. The garden was fantastic for our dogs and very secure. There was plenty of off road parking which was ideal for us.

Our three generation family had a great week in your wonderful, spacious seaside home.

We particularly enjoyed the garden (we were lucky to have good weather for early May) and the comfortable livingroom. The children loved the wide range of toys and games too. Only a couple of areas which could be improved. It would be nice in a house this size to have a full size dishwasher and while the curtains were obviously new they need some attention. In the dining area they need new hooks but more importantly the ones in most of the bedrooms are very light and can not be drawn to cover the whole window. This didn’t bother our group as the main bedroom curtains do have blackout lining, however light sensitive sleepers be aware. The house is in a great location; we enjoyed a day at Sewerby Hall and Garden and the swimming pool especially. We would not hesitate to visit again.

Love this house, and the downstairs bedroom was just what we needed for mum, but could I suggest a shower seat for the down stairs shower, this would just complete the accessibility for disabled people.

This is a lovely spacious property for a larger family group and dogs.

It is clean and well equipped, (dont forget to take hand soap though) and has a good sized enclosed rear garden. If we go again (which we are definitely planning on doing), we will probably bring a padlock for the side gate to make it more secure for dogs and children. We tended to come in through the back after a beach walk, as the front of house is carpeted with just a tiny porch. Apart from the kitchen floor which could do with some attention, the property is in excellent condition. It was lovely and warm, so no skimping on the heating like some places do! The information pack was extremely helpful and included everything you may need to know in an easy to understand format. The location of this property is exceptional. There are Seaviews from many of the windows, and it is literally a 5 minute stroll across the road and down the hill to a lovely dog friendly beach. This was a huge selling point for our older and disabled members of the family. I would highly recommend the emberton.

A house perfectly placed for a beach holiday. A lovely large house with a safe garden for children and pets. Well equipped and very comfortable. Thankyou for having us. We had a really fun time getting to know the area.

Just spent 5 days in this lovely big house with my family ages 3-72.

Great position as just a short walk to the beach. Bedrooms were very large so plenty of room for us all. High spot of the holiday my great grandson Harvey doing a circular run racing from the lounge to the kitchen then back to the lounge . We also took full advantage of the children's games and books provided . Well worth a visit

Great views from the bedrooms.kitted out well and a great secure garden. Great location. Right next to a dog friendly beach. We had a fantastic holiday I would definitely recommend and will hopefully be back

I can't put into words how special this house is!

As a house I spent my entire childhood wondering what it was like inside, to be able to stay in it was a dream! Overall, the house offers everything you could need, they cover all bases. Lovely and clean and so much space. They have literally thought of everything. The location is incredible and we loved it so much, we booked next year's holiday within 24hrs of turning the key! Thank you.

THIS PROPERTY IS SPOT ON FOR EVERYTHING ABOUT IT,JUST TWO SMALL POINTS ONE OF THE OUTSIDE DRAINS IS BLOCKED,AND REALLY THE TWO BINS(GREEN AND BLUE) WITH NEARLY FULL PEOPLE CAPACITY YOU ARE STRUGGLING FOR ROOM IN THESE TWO BINS WITH THE ALTERNATE WEEKLY COLLECTIONS, BOTH BINS WERE FULL WHEN WE ARRIVED, MAYBE LARGER OR EXTRA BINS?

Lovely week near the beach.

Everything about the cottage was wonderful, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We came with my parents who are in their late 80’s and all had a lovely, relaxing time. Our only criticism was some hand/grab rails in the walk in showers would have been appreciated as they just felt a bit nervous when using them. We will definitely return to The Emberton.

What an amazing house for a large family to stay!

Excellent location and plenty of space in this property, mean you've got everything you could possibly need. Add in a bit of Art Deco period style and you've got a winner with The Emberton. A big thank you to the owners.

We had an amazing stay at the Emberton the house is absolutely stunning.

It was ideal for us as we have a disabled child so the disabled bedroom was spot on. The location was fantastic We would love to come back, highly recommended.

We had a wonderful week in this gorgeous home from home.

It was warm and comfortable and huge.. We loved it! It's in a perfect position with wonderful sea views and we did some lovely cliff top and beach walks from the house. We should have had my parents with us but Dad wasn't well enough to travel, we hope we can return one day so they can enjoy Bridlington and The Emberton as much as we did.

The Emberton is a really lovely place to stay, the beach and other amenities very close by. We had a lovely holiday and would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Absolutely fabulous house in a ideal setting, the bedding and beds were luxurious and all the house .

just a few things , downstairs shower , either hot or cold not fabulous, and leeks onto the floor, and the hoover kept cutting out , I stripped it down the filters were blocked, and are in desperate need of washing/changing. One other thing if your not a size 12 some larger towels would be good . Thank you for a fabulous week

A very well equipted residence.

Everything has been thought of. A great position on north beach.

Lovely house with everything we needed, a spacious garden and so need the beach.

Had a wonderful family holiday and would love to return.
