  • "Lovely cottage for our little Christmas break."

We found the cottage warm and comfortable and well equipped to cook our Christmas dinner, apart from the fact that there was no hand washing soap in the kitchen, neither was there a washing up sponge or a cloth for wiping down surfaces, this meant I had to go out and buy these (I am used to other properties providing these basic items). We also found the box for the television difficult to understand and we were very limited to which channels and apps we could access. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom cosy. We loved our evening walks around the village with the dog as it is quite peaceful once you get away from the main road. All in all a good place to stay, and the welcome pack provided was a very nice touch. We can definitely recommend Ramblers Cottage.

  • "My sister in law, brother in law and myself visit Whitby & the surrounding areas frequently & stay in different holiday cottages."

We were very disappointed with Ramblers Cottage for a few reasons. Firstly, no welcome pack! (It's the little things that give a good 1st impression). Secondly, the essentials of self catering were very poor, especially in the kitchen. Finally, the cleanliness was disgusting in the kitchen. The colander, some of the plates & cups actually had food and grease debris on them. One of the glasses was broken in the cupboard when we arrived. An ideal position to explore the North Yorkshire Moors but unfortunately, the above points let it down.

  • "We've just spent a week at Ramblers Cottage and loved our stay."

The cottage is clean, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of books and games to entertain should the weather be against you. Comfy beds, hot shower and the log burner complete the cosiness. The maps, walking guides and things to do leaflets were very useful. The cottage is a 3 minute walk from Sleights train station where you can get the train to Whitby, a 10 minute journey away. Loads of places to visit within a 30 minute drive including Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay and Pickering. Thornton le Dale is also about 30 minutes drive away and is a lovely little village. The butchers in Sleights is amazing and the Spa very handy for general essentials. We had a lovely break and will definitely return.

  • "We loved our stay at Ramblers Cottage."

It had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfy and the cottage was cosy and warm. There are some very nice cafes and garden centres within walking distance and Whitby only three miles away via car or train (you can walk to the train station in under a minuet). The cottage had walking guides and attractions to visit which was very handy! We would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely be booking again soon!

  • "Loved this property."

Nice quiet location which is important for breaks away. We loved the large choice of board games, these kept us entertained on the rainy days. I also loved having full access to Amazon Prime, so managed to binge watch a few things we wouldn't normally see. My daughter loved having Alexa for a weekend too. My only criticism is that there was a lingering smell of dogs, which I completely appreciate being a dog friendly cottage. The general cleanliness was excellent and did not see any dog hairs thank fully.

.even the knives in the kitchen were sharp!! Neighbours friendly and helpful without being overpowering Only downside for us was the lack of private outside space..there is a bench but this is not really comfortable to sit on …but then the beach is only 3 miles away We would stay here again

  • "We loved the property, it was exactly as listed, very clean & well stocked domestically with pans, crockery, cutlery, etc."

.. We found the property to be a good size & met our needs perfectly. Our only critiscisms are, the key box is tricky...and the two seater sofa is a bit 'tired' & low slung for older people to get out of... Neither of these things adversely affected our stay The cottage is near to the excellent Riverside Cafe & the shops in Sleights, all of whom have staff who are very helpful & welcoming... The neighbours in the cottages on both sides were very helpful & friendly...

If you are looking for a garden this property is not for you ! However, if you like peace and quiet, have dogs want to be a stones throw from Whitby.....Ramblers is a lovely base. Great butchers and bakers at Sleights just up the hill. Pleasant garden centre and cafe a short walk away. The cottage is modern, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely bedlinen and towels.Very clean. All in all a pleasant stay. My only gripe and it's minor the medal holder in the shower is neither use or ornament !!

  • "Ramblers cottage is beautifully equipped and furnished to a high standard."

It is perfectly situated to explore the Whitby & surrounding area of Yorkshire. The bed is very comfortable and a great shower. We couldn’t want for anything else in the cottage at all. I would recommend for a couple wanting to explore the area. The only improvement I would recommend is to put some netting or similar along both sides of estate fencing in the front garden as the garden isn’t really enclosed. There are adjoining resident neighbour's ( all very friendly/pleasant) who both have dogs and the dogs can get through fencing, which is of concern, if like us, we have a reactive dog who doesn’t care much for other dogs company! We had a lovely holiday staying at Ramblers cottage - thank you very much.

The property was impeccably presented and very well equipped - it has as good kitchen facilities as I have experienced in a small holiday let. Both furniture and beds were very comfortable and the owners were very helpful when we needed to contact them. Easy short drive to Whitby and don't miss Sandsend beach. The bakers and the butchers in Sleights are both excellent. Overall, highly recommended

  • "Just returned from our 4 day stay in this lovely cottage which is extremely clean with everything you would need to make it home from home."

The location is great for easy access to lots of places in North Yorkshire, both by car or train. The train station is 5 minutes walk and it takes 10 minutes to get to Whitby or Grosmont. Also bus access to Whitby and Pickering and all locations in between. We got the train to Grosmont and walked to Goathland then got the bus back to the cottage. We do have a car but chose to use public transport, parking can work out expensive. I have marked the cottage down on comfort as the mattress was far too hard for my liking. I don’t mind a firm mattress but this was hard, and also when the other half moved in bed, it was like being on a trampoline. However it didn’t stop us from getting a good nights sleep. The heating was preset to come on at 6am and 4pm for an hour each time, and we couldn’t figure out how to override that, or increase the temperature to more than 20 degrees. We did contact the owner who was prepared to change the timing of the heating which they could do remotely. We made good use of the log burner however that can work out quite expensive. There is a small garden to the front, which is not secure for dogs, and no rear exit. We would definitely stay here again - 4 days wasn’t long enough to visit all the places we wanted to visit.

  • "We’ve never stayed anywhere with such a well equipped kitchen, which clearly gave the impression that the owners are happy for you to cook."

It even had effective oven gloves and washing up gloves, as well as an empty cupboard to store our own food. The house is quiet, beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having a good choice of TV programmes to watch and listening to our music through the bluetooth speaker. Being so near the train station and bus stop meant we could forget about the car when we wanted. It was a lovely relaxing holiday, thank you.
