  • "A nice cottage situated in an area that we know and like - fantastic butcher (Radfords) and bakers (Bothams) close by."

And also close to all the places we love - Goathland, Whitby etc. Neighbour was friendly and welcoming. Quiet area, no disturbance. The cottage was comfortable and looks to have been well equipped. However some things were a little tired - frying pans worn out, poor knives (all blunt), loose taps. Oven was a bit greasy and smoky when we first used it. The outdoor wheely bin was full on the day we arrived (Friday) with collection not being until the following Thursday. Also no black rubbish sacks in the kitchen. The bathroom was probably our biggest disappointment - noisy fan (as per previous reviews), very low pressure in the shower and worst of all the bathroom smelled very damp and musty. The cottage wasn't brilliant for us as we do a lot of outdoor walking in all weathers and there was no outside tap to clean boots and very little space inside the front door to take off/dry footwear and coats. It all got a bit busy and complicated! Overall though it was 'good' and sufficient, just not very good or excellent. It could be a lot better quite easily with just a little effort.

Thank you for your feedback Steven. I apologise that our cottage didn’t meet your expectations. We try really hard to maintain the property to a high standard to please our guests. I will replace the knives & frying pans, thank you for bringing this to my attention. There are hooks for coats under the stairs and also a shoe rack that you could have used. Regarding the bathroom smell, it’s not something I’ve noticed when doing weekly changeovers but will certainly look into. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage with its own parking space."

We found it very comfortable and well equipped for our needs. The welcome pack was much appreciated, such a nice touch. We would have liked a broom to sweep up with, and maybe a lamp downstairs to provide softer lighting of an evening, but otherwise all good. Sleights is delightful, we especially enjoyed sitting in the garden of the Salmon Leap pub of an evening with the dog. The cottage is very handy for the local buses/trains and all our usual haunts ie Whitby, Goathland, Ruswarp. We would definitely stay here again as it was so very quiet and peaceful (we loved hearing the birds sing in the morning, the owl in the middle of the night, and the steam trains as they passed).

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We always try to take on board suggestions so we will look to add a lamp and a brush. Thank you & we hope that you book again! Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely with plenty of light and fresh air in a lovely village setting."

Comfortable apart from the sofa which was too low. Instruction would have been useful for the shower as it seemed to be either too hot or too cold. Local shops very good bakers and butchers and the general store well stocked. Good walking and close to local attractions. North yorkshire moors railway. Whitby etc

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We recently replaced the sofa which we think will be more suitable for guests. We will look to include more instructions in the property information. We hope that you’ll stay again in future. Property Owner

  • "On the whole a lovely cottage in a peaceful area."

The welcome pack is a lovely gesture and the cottage is well equipped. The only negatives are: 1. The settee isn't very comfortable and is a bit low. 2. The bathroom fan is very noisy and goes on too long We would definitely recommend this cottage to others and hope at some point to return ourselves

Thank you for your feedback. We always try to make improvements based on the feedback that we get so thank you for bringing these things to our attention. We do hope you’ll return in the future. Property Owner

  • "Very good cottage, with a couple of negative comments."

Cups in the cupboard were unwashed….we always bring our own fortunately. The cottage is “dog friendly” but has no area in which a dog can perform its toilet functions. We also felt a lighter weight duvet (10.5 tog in use)would be more appropriate in early July,

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise that you found various issues during your stay. We have purchased a summer weight duvet which is available in the wardrobe if it’s too hot for the thicker duvet. Property Owner

  • "Excellent cottage extremely well kept and very clean ."

It is just three miles from Whitby and well placed to explore such well know places such as Staithes and Runswick Bay . Given the opportunity to book again we would have but having looked at the at the dates available we found it was fully booked , a testament I feel to the quality of the cottage .

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We hope you’re able to return in future Property Owner
