  • "A charming and well-appointed place for 2."

    It was a delight to wake up each morning and look out over the mini orchard, fields, forest and pond with wildlife in abundance, big skies, bees and flowers. Kitchen had a variety of cooking utensils, 2 ring hob and microwave. We very much welcomed the milk, coffee, croissants and home made blackcurrant jam!

  • "2nd time of staying in Woodland View."

    Owners very helpful and accommodation was as described. Great for a short stay. Plenty to do in area and lots of walks nearby.

  • "I loved the stay, weather wasn't great but no one's fault."

    The only problem we had was my wife is disabled and wasn't able to get out and about easily, my fault really. The accommodation was excellent, very clean, well equipped. Bed was comfortable, WiFi was good, Liz and Mike seam nice people and are there for any problems. The farm is situated in a convenient area for sightseeing, Great for a bit of peace and quiet.

  • "My stay was very comfortable in spite of the almost non-stop rain!"

    I had been a bit put-off by the apparent lack of any arm chairs in the photos: but the new replacement bucket-style upholstered upright chairs were very comfortable and an excellent compromise arrangement. I'd suggest updating that photo when possible.

  • "Photos did not do the property justice as it was larger than we expected."

    We easily managed for a week with the facilities provided although a couple of easy chairs for relaxation would enhance the property. Good value for money. Property well situated for walkers and those wishing to explore the area.

  • "V cosy, comfortable and well-equipped."

    We had everything we needed. Extremely quiet and peaceful- a perfect place to relax. Ideally located for the excellent Bowes museum and the towns of Barnard Castle and Middleton-in Teesdale. Some lovely walking (including Low Force, High Force and Cauldron Snout) conveniently nearby. Also, very reasonably priced! Highly recommended.

  • "Toilet seat was loose and coming off and held on by wire."

    No hot water only loop warm. No hangers for dishcloths or towels, we had to hang it on the doors. No storage for clothes so couldn't hang anything anywhere, undeath the bed storage was not suitable. No bedside cabinets or drawers, these were actually storage boxes which you had to lift everything off the top to be able to access it. No oven at all and just 2 hot plates. No freezer compartment so couldn't bring anything back to store. No sofa so to watch tv you had to sit on the bed. Photos on listing quite deceiving!

BARNARD CASTLE

The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. It stands on the site of an ancient Roman fort which crosses the river. The medieval ruins of the castle still tower over the river and are well worth a visit. Known affectionately as 'Barney’ by residents and visitors alike, the town boasts cobble streets, yards and back lanes, which were first laid out in the 12th century. The nearby Bowes Museum is well worth a visit and a wonderful way to spend a day wandering around this beautiful building and experiencing the fascinating exhibitions. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep of this lovely market town, with woodland walks and cycle routes and the Lake District, the Pennine and Teesdale Ways, and the River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are all within easy reach.
