Lilac Cottage

The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Nice area both at the front and the back for sitting out if the weather allows. Having both a bath and a separate walk in shower was a bonus. Lovely big fluffy bath towels too.

We thought that putting the dustbins out would be a bit difficult for some people getting them up the steps and through the gate.

As we had 2 dogs we hoovered daily but the hoover kept stopping.

Your cottage is beautifully finished and quite roomy for a two bed.

It's well equipped and charming. If I had one slight criticism it would be that a little maintenance on the wooden garden furniture is needed , as well as some work on getting the exterior doors to unlock smoother. It's a peaceful location with friendly neighbours.

We met up to stay with friends at Lilac cottage.

We were impressed by the size, cleanliness and location. The addition of a downstairs loo was much appreciated.

Really nice cottage in lovely village.

Everything we needed was provided and there was a welcome pack of essentials too. Great location as only a few miles from Helmsley and other small towns and around 25 miles from York. We could reach the coast in under an hour. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage, really comfortable with some little luxuries and the heating settings gave it a real cosiness.

The living room photos on line don't do the property justice, it is immaculate with welk-proportioned rooms. We were drawn to the cottage due to its close proximity to The Plough pub which has won awards for its food. It's a great, community-focussed pub top in its own right with good prices on drinks. Fantastic location for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors including the NYMR steam railway from Pickering to Goathland and Whitby and the Hutton-leHole Folk Museum.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location.

Good location for exploring North Yorkshire. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds and good shower. The welcome pack of milk butter eggs and bread was a nice touch. Would recommend.

This is our 2nd time visiting the cottage for new year we just love it, its quiet they is plenty of space and its great just to relax.

Lovely couple of nights at Lilac Cottage, with a friend and our dogs.

We wanted to escape the fireworks in Scarborough. Despite an organised display at the sports field, I think the stone walls of the cottage masked the noise. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage had all we needed for a short break. It is ideally located to explore the moors, nearby market towns and the coast is only a 35 minute drive away. We enjoyed it so much, we have already booked for the same time next year.

Perfect location in friendly village to explore North Yorkshire.

Very comfortable and clean with lots of room. Lovely pub just a few minutes walk away but with limited opening hours so book in advance for dinner! Fantastic farm shop a few minutes drive away for food 'at home'.

We found our accommodation excellent, it was very comfortable, well appointed, with very helpful information in the guest folder, plus helpful literature.

And also the guest book was very useful in providing ideas as to what other guests had found interesting in the area.

Front door was so difficult to open as its a wooden door and i have arthritis in my hands so not great

The property was absolutely amazing and so well equipped.

My only criticism was parking. It may be that I missed this but travelling alone, with a very needy dog, I struggled to manage her and sort all my luggage because I had to park further down the street. There were 2 fiat 500s parked outside the whole time and there just wasn't enough space for me to get on the end without blocking the driveway. I appreciate that there is probably little the owners can do to sort this but thought it worth mentioning.

Lilac Cottage is a lovely cottage that had everything we needed.

The downstairs bathroom is a major plus. I felt so comfortable having my dog there as I felt he was as welcome as I was. It was quiet and we were could sit in either the front or back garden and enjoy it (we chose the front, so we could enjoy the sunshine in the late afternoon) The Plough is a short walk up the street and we had a lovely chat with the gentleman behind the bar who was very welcoming. We enjoyed the local area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back to Lilac Cottage. Thank you.

Clean throughout. Welcome pack was excellent and welcomed after long journey. Although did not use cooking facilities it seemed to have everything there. Very central to Pickering and Helmsley. Highly impressed. Enjoyable stay.

Fab welcome pack, loved the eggs!

Comfy bed and lounge! Well situated, easy on street parking! Amazing shower although did leak through the ceiling a bit, kitchen sink tap also leaked a bit!

What a fantastic cottage, warm and cosy - and it was proper cold out the week we were there.

Great shower, lovely comfy bed, and a great kitchen with full sized fridge. Thank you for the welcome pack - especially the little cakes, one with a candle! Lovely thought to have not only provided us with raw organic milk, but also left us with directions on how to find the farm - we re-filed the bottle once, and then took 2L home with us too! Perfect location for great dog walking country. We will recommend, and hope to come back again soon.

only minor point it would have been nice to turn the lights down when relaxing in the evening watching TV. Thanks for the goodies greatly appreciated.

just like to say property was amazing, clean comfortable, thank you for the plum jam ,so thoughtful, property was in an ideal location, peaceful and quiet.

It was very lovely but could do with a few more mirrors and it is not very good for disabled people I think that you need to put that into your advertising struggled a bit with the stairs

The cottage was great.

Felt quite at home there. Everything we needed was to hand. The welcome pack was great and the dogs enjoyed their treats. Would go there again.

We had a long weekend here for our anniversary The cottage is really clean and well maintained in a lovely area.

The local pub eating house is literally a 5 minute walk from the cottage . I would certainly think about using this for a longer time next time because it is a lovely area with so much to see.

Comfortable and well equipped cottage.

Unfortunately the water heater failed at the beginning of our stay (probably before we arrived) but was repaired the same day that we reported it so we were able to enjoy the excellent separate shower in the bathroom. Wombleton is a good base for Rievaulx Terrace and Abbey, Nunnington Hall and Helmsley, Pickering and Scarborough castles as well as the North York Moors Railway. There a handy circular walk past the pub and back down Page Lane for anyone with a dog (with 3 dog pooh bins). At dusk there are bats in Page Lane.
