Meadow Cottage

Unfortunately, this property was rather unpleasant and we left after enduring one night there.

The place is extremely tired and dated.Whilst there was clean bed linen ,there was a general lack of cleanliness in both bedrooms,thick cobwebs and spindle spiders on beds and in all corners.Cobwebs in lounge,curtains not hung properly on hooks.Furniture tired and tatty. The condition of cooking utensils were below satisfactory.The place clearly had not been deep cleaned for a very long time.We recieved a full refund.Such a shame as the property has potential to be a very comfortable bolt hole,the location is lovely.

Peaceful and quiet surroundings. Owners very friendly, approachable and helpful. Could not have asked for anything better.

The property is lovely and comfortable and a great base for travel around the local area.

The only thing is that the outdoor area is shared not private, not really an issue but it does mean dogs are not in a secure area as the gates can be keft open. On saying that we had a great stay

Another lovely stay in this comfortable, cosy, clean cottage on a working farm.

We were lucky enough be there at lambing time which was magical. Janet, the owner, is friendly and always available should you need anything but not at all obtrussive in any way. Highly recommended for a peaceful and relaxing holiday in some beautiful scenery, while still within easy reach of shops, pubs etc and only 45 minutes or so from the coast. This was our 3rd visit and we're already looking forward to returning

A fantastic stay at Meadow Cottage!

We stayed during lambing season, which was lovely, the Cottage is warm and comfortable with everything you need. The farm owners are welcoming and kind, with extensive local knowledge. Easy parking and access, ideally placed for all local amenities. A huge thank you for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful cottage conversion , loved the log fire , the peace and tranquility and was also well placed for amenities in the surrounding area , kirkby Moorside, Malton, Pickering etc.

All in all we thoroughly recommend cowldyke farm/ meadows cottage and hope to return in the future .

Meadow Cottage is really comfortable with great views over a field full of sheep and rabbits!

The cottage is well equipped with everything you could ever need for a relaxing week away, with a large kitchen diner and two good sized bedrooms, and is conveniently located for touring North Yorks, less than an hour from York and Scarborough and only a few minutes away from the excellent Ryedale Folk Museum and the North Yorks Heritage Railway.

We loved the tranquil location of Meadow cottage, it was very peaceful.

The owner and family were very welcoming. The cottage was very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

A comfortable cottage in a peaceful setting.

It had everything I needed for my holiday, including areas to walk my dog. It is positioned well for exploring the local area and there was so much to see and do. I will definitely be back.

We had a brilliant holiday in Meadow Cottage.

Janet the owner was very kind and friendly. It was wonderful looking out of the picture window watching the field of sheep grazing. The surrounding area was quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed visiting nearby villages and small towns like Kirkby Moorside and Helmsley.

The cottage on this very smart farm was ideal for our mountain biking holiday.

Very peaceful location with friendly family and scotty dog to look after us. Would help to have more seating outside but otherwise we were very happy. Thank you. Jon Tye.

The approach to the property was impressive with tree lined track.

The host was very welcoming and were very grateful for the last minute accommodation after being let down. The accommodation was comfortable but is in need of refurbishment, we do appreciate it is a working farm.

We had a really comfortable stay at Cowldyke Farm.

The cottage was cosy, was very well equipped and peaceful. Although the farm was in the countryside it was close to all amenities. We would be happy to go again and can highly recommend the cottage.

This is the perfect place for a couple or older family wanting some peace and quiet.

Set within the owners working farm, this sits as part of a number of small holiday lets. Meadow cottage has access to a shared courtyard, but this is not secure so you will need to keep dogs on leads unless they never leave your side. (Especially given as the farm has sheep and livestock just outside the courtyard. The location is wonderfully quiet and relaxing, with the large window from the lounge looking over a field. Probably not ideal for younger children unless you are using as a base for daily outings but older families will enjoy the relaxing atmosphere . The owners are welcoming and happy to assist if needed and the cottage is clean and comfortable. Most things you would wish for are available and the open fire makes for cosy evenings watching a movie or playing a boardgame.

This is a working sheep farm, so be prepared for a little mud on your car.

On saying that though it wasn't that bad. We went end of March and considering it a working sheep farm it was quite good. The cottage was warm and clean and well looked after. Would go back again. Thank you.

This was a very enjoyable stay, with a warm welcome on arrival.

I would certainly come here again. The location is fantastic, very peaceful with lovely views. The cottage is comfortable and clean, and well equipped, although the white wear is old. The cottage was cold on arrival, and took a while to warm up with the storage heaters. The wood fire is a bonus and very pleasant, but only tends to heat directly in front of it, a good touring centre, with easy access to the main roads.

Mrs Benton and her son were very friendly and welcoming.

The cottage was clean, tidy. lovely and warm. The cottage is in easy reach of Kirbymoorside, Pickering, Helmsley and Thirsk as well as Whitby. My wife and I can thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend it and it was delightful to see the sheep in the meadows first thing in the morning...

The cottage felt chilly due to storage heating not on during evening.

the open fire was very close to settee and not much point as only small area would feel any benifit. The bedding had been good quality but in need of updating. Rooms quite dark and dusty.rather dated.

The cottage was homely and comfortable, we felt at home as soon as we arrived.

There was plenty of room for the two of us . It was a great base for exploring the Howardian hills and we did some lovely walks during the week. Janet and family were around most of the time and showed us the lambs as it was in the middle of lambing season. Friendly helpful owners. We will return when in the area.

We had a great stay at this Meadow Cottage on a farm.

It was peaceful yet close to all the tourist attractions you want to see. There was 4 of us and a puppy. The cottage was comfortable and everything was there that we needed. The hosts were lovely and friendly. Highly recommend it.

Good afternoon We had a super time.

The cottage was very well appointed, comfortable and every need was catered to. The owner is very friendly, as we found all the Yorkshire people. It was also a pleasure to see such clean pathways and roadsides.

Meadow Cottage is a charming cottage set on a working farm.

All tourist attractions are within an hours drive. The cottage itself is well equipped and the owner Janet, is always on hand for any help or information that maybe needed.

Had a fab time, beautiful setting and hosts were so lovely and welcoming we felt we were visiting family.

The cottage was really cosy and comfortable.

It was very clean and had all the equipment needed for a self-catering stay. The view from the lounge window and bedroom was beautiful. The surrounding farm land was well looked after and the cottage was located in a very quiet area which made for a peaceful and relaxing stay. There is a lovely river running through the farm and is easily accessible through the fields. A lovely walk and friendly inquisitive sheep and goats on the way. The owners of the farm were very friendly and always stopped for a chat and asked how our day has been. Janet even went out of her way before we arrived to find out if anyone locally was selling eggs. She rang me back to let me know. Unfortunately due to coronavirus there were no eggs for sale but normally a neighbour would be selling them. The cottage is in easy driving distance for many of the local attractions. We really enjoyed our stay and even though times are difficult and uncertain at the moment we felt safe and had a relaxing and enjoyable break. We would recommend Meadow Cottage or any of the other cottages on Cowldyke farm.

The owners made us feel extremely welcome and went out of their way by helping us out by pulling our vehicle out of a muddy field during a diversion after floods.

Plenty of long walks and nearby villages. Our only negative the facilities. With us having 1 small child it would have been nice if there were hay bails or swings or something on site to keep him occupied. Apart from that it was a really lovely break and highly recommend it to anyone looking for peace and tranquility.

Cottage very comfortable, spotlessly clean, good quality beds and stocked with everything you need. Good heating but Log fire available for colder nights. Lovely courtyard to sit and enjoy the sun. Quiet location so peaceful but with plenty to do in the surrounding areas. My grandson loved seeing the sheep and chickens and the owners cats. The owner had toys in the property and ride on tractors and bikes to play with outside, he had a ball. Would highly recommend

Lovely cottage, lovely hosts, very quiet and lots to do and see in the area.

Tesco happy to deliver there.My grandchildren loved the toy tractors and the farm cats and hens. The only thing I missed was internet access, otherwise it would have been a 10 and a perfect break perfect break.

Freedom to do lots of walks on nearby land with our dog and also many suitable Toy tractors etc for our grandchild to play on. Janet and son John were perfect hosts.

They werewilling to share infomation about the immediate location and attractions. Lots of flora and fauna in the farmlands itself, which the proprietors were happy for guests to appreciate.

The peace and quiet of the area, being away from the traffic and the cottage being situated well inside the farm area.

Plenty of parking, plenty of sheep grazing with its calming effects.

Lovely holiday in Meadow Cottage.

Delightful rural location situated in the heart of the farm. Charming cottage clean well laid out well equipped. Owners were charming and helpful. Close to Malton and Pickering both nice small market towns. We went a bit further afield on some days Scarbrough, Whitby, Filey all with an hours drive. Ideal for walkers. Highlight for me was at night observing the stars without light pollution. Would recommend this property without hesitation. One cottage we will return to. The dog loved it as well!
