Sunrise

The cleanliness and maintenance was extremely poor.

The cottage and its location are very good however it’s very badly maintained. I paid £1000 for two nights for my daughter, son in law and their two children. They returned with a list of fourteen negatives which I can gladly list with supporting photos. They include: Towel rail falling off the wall when first used ( they had 14 month old baby with them.) Bird poo on back of TV and on inside of main bedroom window. Cobwebs and dust throughout. Food stains on appliances. Dirty freezer compartment. Dirty crockery. No dishwasher tablets Nether toilet smelt fresh. There are several more. I can provide the images to you on WhatsApp.

We had another fabulous week at the cottage.

It is so comfortable and well equipped with easy access to the beach directly opposite and views of the sea. Already booked again for next year. Thank you Mike for the wine and other goodies in the welcome pack.

We love spending time here whatever the weather. Clean, cosy and homely little place which has ever you need for a perfect getaway. We have already booked our fourth visit January 2027.

Lovely comfortable property in an ideal location with the bonus of parking.

This wasn’t our first visit & we have already booked again for later this year so that must say something. Catch up tv would be my only suggestion on improving the facilities.

Sunrise is very comfortable and extremely clean !

It is in a prime position on the sea front . Also having its own parking spot is a big bonus. I would recommend this cottage unreservedly.

This is a lovely beachfront property with great sea views.

The property was perfect for our family of 3 to stay in comfort and access the local area by foot. The owners were very responsive when we contacted them early on in our stay regarding a minor issue. Their offer of help and timely response was very appreciated.

Everything was good including the weather for the week of our stay in March. We enjoy staying at Sunrise as it is a very comfortable place to stay along with the easy access to the beach and walks along the promenade to Cobble Landing etc. Thank you for the welcome pack that we enjoyed during the week. We always look forward to our stays at Sunrise and have booked for March 2007. Sunrise has everything one needs and is in perfect position only 15 metres from beach.

Bonuses include spacious hallway especially to clean our dog, and storage/hanging spaces for coats etc. And the massive bonus... private off road parking. Add the very comfortable bed and you have everything for a great holiday.

A lovely place to stay warm and cosy very clean opposite from the beach and great for our dog tess weather was nice and was able to get out every day parking was bonus a bottle of milk would have been nice to make a cup of tea when we first got there but it was a great stay Diane malc and tess our dog

A delightful property with a very apt name.

Sunrises were amazing. The property was adequately equipped and very comfortable. From watching sunrises at breakfast time to sitting on the terrace with a late afternoon glass of wine, our stay was most enjoyable

Really excellent property in the ideal location.

As far as cleanliness is concerned I would give it a 9 out of 10, only because it is near to the end of a long holiday season and has had numerous people staying in it. If a slight lack of respect is shown by holiday makers (ie walking inside with shoes on) then carpets will suffer. With regard to comfort again a 9 out of 10. This is entirely down to my age and not the property with regards to the staircase. In fairness to the owner there is a warning about this in the advert so I can have no complaints. In general we have thoroughly enjoyed our visits here and will be back in the future. A really big thank you to both the owner and Sykes for the excellent service and communication

It was a very enjoyable holiday in a butiful location.

The cottage was clean and comfortable. The weather was fine but as expected on the cold side for this time of year. We are getting on in years and booked this holiday location to get some walking exercise in, which worked out really well. Would recommend this Hoiday. You will need to book well in advance as very popular.

What a lovely cottage, very clean and well equipped for our holiday , the owner had thought of everything including a generous welcome pack. The bedrooms are a generous size with very comfortable beds. It was great to be able to sit in the private, raised area outside after spending time on the beautiful sandy beach. We didn't want to leave and have already booked for next year. Thank you so much for a special holiday to celebrate my retirement.

Yet another excellent stay at Sunrise.

There was everything that we required for our stay in the cottage. The location is excellent for the early morning sunrise, then for walks along the 'prom' to the cobble landing to visit the RNLI station and shop or just for a 'cuppa' from the many cafe's. We have been to Sunrise for many visits over the years and it always has a lovely feeling and helps us to relax. The cottage is very well equipped. There is everything you require in the cottage and is clean and comfortable. Very well located in the best possible place to view the sea, view the early morning sunrise, walk along the flat promenade to Cobble Landing, have a cuppa, purchase from the RNLI shop and walk back! We love Filey and have seen Sunrise many times but finally booked as its always busy.

Absolutely wonderful place. Loved reading about the story behind the building and the labour of love it's been. The location is amazing, the decor lovely, I love the layout of the house, the staircase the juliet balcony the breakfast bar the outside decking make it feel so cosy and unique. Its very clean and everything you could need and more is provided attention to detail is spot on. WiFi was great too. Listening to the sound of the sea from the bedroom skylights was so relaxing. While we were there we booked for next year as we just didn't want to leave. 100 percent recommend Sunrise.

It is a marvellous cottage to stay in . Second to none in cleanliness and position on the Beach Road . The owner is very attentive and quickly sorts any problems if they occur . Looking forward to another return visit next year . Would highly recommend.

First time at this property and was well impressed ,had a lovely time ,it was brilliant to have somewhere to park the car ,it was nice to sit outside with a coffee in the sunshine in front of the sea ,would definitely book again Before

Wonderful location and 2 mins from the beach however the wfi connection was practically nil and we couldn't connect to online bridge.

The cottage was spotlessly clean... however the toaster could do with replacing. However we had a wonderful week and if we stayed in it was so lovely to look at and hear the sea. 10 out of 10 for the lovely garden. Booked again for next year.

Love the addition of the private sun terrace to the side, it was a sun trap last weekend and added to our stay in the beautiful cottage which was so peaceful and quite in the mornings and evenings, we had the area surrounding us to ourselves. Many thanks.

Thank you for letting us stay at Sunrise once again.

We both enjoyed our stay as in past years. The facilities were excellent once again with everything we required and thank you for the 'welcome pack'. Even though the cottage was clean, it did lack the lovely welcome aroma as we have experienced in previous years. We do not have a pet and there was no visibility/aroma of any previous visitor having had a pet. The new bed and mattress were very comfortable. (Thank you Mike for that). It was lovely to be able to sit out in the sunshine and enjoy the sound of the sea with our drinks. Sunrise is so near to the promenade to enjoy the walk along to the 'opposite end - Cobble Landing', where a refreshing 'cuppa' can be purchased (subject to being open due to weather conditions of course). There are some interesting areas in and around Filey to visit. We would recommend a holiday break at Sunrise. We have already booked for March 2025 and will look forward to our 'restful break' once again. Keith & Margaret Webster

This is the second time at the cottage.

As we have a dog we always go when the dog is allowed on the beach (early or late season). My only issue with the property, which is very well cared for, is the main bathroom is on the ground flour! Bill

A little gem A lovely little cottage which was perfect for us, it was modern, clean and had everything we needed.

The location was fabulous with stunning sea views. We loved it so much we rebooked as soon as we got home. The basic WiFi was not a problem for us but maybe for some and I know the owner is fighting a long running battle to sort this. We can’t wait for our next visit.

Location, location, location. Sunrises are exceptional. Such a lovely cottage. The owner is very responsive and thoughtful. No WiFi at all on this visit, but it wasn't a huge issue for us. Filey is lovely in any weather. Very cosy and warm throughout the stay. Thank you.

Sunrise is in a perfect location for the beach, well organised and always spotlessly clean. The new mattress in the main bedroom was a very welcome bonus and extremely comfy! This cottage is our perfect ‘home from home’ - Mike has done a fantastic job, cannot fault it at all, looking forward to our next visit!

Once again our week's holiday in Sunrise Filey was a marvellous one !

Our second visit . The cottage is super clean , warm and comfortable . Cannot fault it in any way and happy to say Filey was still as good as ever , beautiful gardens and free of rubbish . Thank you

We love staying in the house but the beds are so uncomfortable now that it’s impossible to get any sleep even when we bring our own mattress toppers

This was our second stay at Sunrise.

We love the place. A delightful cottage in a stunning location. The property was in an excellent condition on our arrival, and the basket of goodies, including a bottle of wine and box of chocolate biscuits, was a wonderful touch. Some slight niggles (we're being picky here): more subtle lighting (e.g. small table lamps) would be nice in the living room for watching TV in the evening, maybe some more towel rails in the bathroom, the single beds were fine but the double bed was rather uncomfortable and noisy, there was no mirror in the twin-bedded room, and the heated towel rail in the bathroom didn't appear to work. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time in Filey and look forward to staying again at Sunrise.

We have just returned from our week at Sunrise.

We have had a lovely week. The bungalow is perfect, The only thing to make it 100% would be some outside space. The bungalow is beautifully decorated and furnished, with everything you need. Perfectly positioned, parking a bonus. I could have stayed as my forever home!! I did want to fill in the visitors book. I hadn’t taken a pen and couldn’t find one in the bungalow. Perhaps one could be clipped to the Visitors Book.

Yet another wonderful holiday at Sunrise, Filey.

We have now visited about 6 times and always enjoyed the excellent cottage facilities and Filey including surrounding areas. Sunrise is so convenient to the beach and a good leisurely walk on the promenade to the opposite end to the Cobble Landing which has its own features of interest. The cottage has everything you would need for a relaxing break, all you need is fine and sunny weather to make it better, which we did this year. Beautifully positioned little cottage. Suited our needs perfectly and a lovely sunny week as well, what more could you ask. We booked for next year when we had only been there one night we were so pleased with the accommodation! Facilities are great and watching the sun rise each morning was beautiful. Only problem is that it’s so good you have to book a year in advance!

4 th time we've been to this lovely cottage and we've booked for next year already.

Lovely time of the year to visit Filey and the facilities in the cottage are first class. Looks like a larger raised patio is being constructed and this will add to the facilities

This property is perfectly placed along the coast in Filey and has been refurbished to a very high standard.

The layout is perfect and extremely cosy given the well insulated walls, in terms of accessibility it ticks all the boxes for a holiday home being that it has its own designated parking space within the grounds. Couple of points to add , the double bed is a small one and could do with replacing with a king or queen size one. The Wi-Fi is extremely poor , when measured it was less than 2mb and this was a significant let down as we like most people like to use the streaming services and could not. I would strongly suggest to the owner to invest in a standalone internet connection and not piggy back off another property. This was not highlighted in the property description when we originally booked. I would love to stay again at Sunrise as it is beautifully done but would say the above 2 items need attention.

The property is a real home from home.

The location is amazing and off street parking a definite bonus. (Although it was quiet when we stayed parking wasn’t a problem). You are straight onto the beach so you are able to simply look out of the window to check when the tide has gone out enough to be able to go for a walk onto the beach! The home is well equipped with everything you would need. I cannot recommend enough.

Even though the weather was very wintery, the cottage was very comfortable and warm. This is our 5th visit and did not disappoint. The sunrises were fabulous as usual against the wintery weather. Thank you once again for your communication re the heating. We used it efficiently like we do at home, conscious of the costs but we were not cold. We visited Burton Agnes to see their Christmas decorations and was not disappointed - very good and worth the visit. We look forward to our net stay in May 2023 and again in March 2024. Lovely property, everything you need & in a brilliant location across the road from the beach which is fantastic when you have a dog who loves the beach, so he enjoyed his holiday too!

!! The parking area belonging to the property is an absolute premium. Even though we were there out of season parking on the road in the day time was busy. We found the Wi-Fi worked better upstairs. Loved reading about the history of the property & how it’s developed to being what it is today. Will definitely have it on my list for a return trip.

Everything was perfect. Sea sounds and views spectacular. The cottage had everything that we needed with bonuses such as a parking place. Very comfortable and amazingly quiet considering how close it was to the road. Spent time sitting in the front having a drink and watching the world. Wonderful.

The house is perfect for access to the beach and lots of the things Filey has to offer. The parking spot is very useful, particularly in busy times. The house is modern, clean and very comfortable to stay in. I would recommend this property!

Perfect location. Booking was easy and I was kept informed throughout from initial contact to leaving

Virtually everything was top class - we have already placed a provisional booking for 2024.

The only issue was a safety issue getting out of the bath - no bath mat or grab handle. Both my wife and I slipped when getting out of the bath after getting a shower

We have already booked for 2023 so as not to miss out on our annual stay in Filey especially at 'Sunrise'. A beautiful cottage by the sea!

Everything was perfect inside the cottage and it was clean upon arrival, we even had a complimentary bottle of fizz and treats , very thoughtful. The towels and bedding smelt lovely and were of good quality. The parking space was brilliant, as parking down on the front can be very difficult. The cottage has been lovingly restored and cleverly designed and we enjoyed reading all about this and it’s history in the guest book. The french doors in the bedroom were great for sitting at in the morning or evening with a drink. The cottage does get lots of admirers but you get used to this! The only thing if anything, the outside area could do with a little care and attention. There were lots of weeds and garden unkept, also a broken chair outside. Four chairs would have been better than two outside , but we did find two camping chairs in the cupboard, enabling us to all sit outside together. I would love to stay again, the best accommodation we have stayed in Filey and we have been coming for many years! I didn’t want to leave .

A wonderful holiday once again at Sunrise.

We have been a few times since the cottage was opened and we have enjoyed it so much that we keep returning. We have already booked for 2022. Thank you for the cake and wine, a very welcoming thought. The cottage is very comfortable and clean with superb views out to sea. If you are lucky, you will see the sunrise if an early riser which is really worth rising early for! The facilities and equipment are very good with everything we required. The car parking area is a welcome thought as it is very difficult to find anywhere close by. Thank you once again for letting us share your lovely 'cottage by the sea'

The cottage is in a lovely position we have seen it many times - Positives : nice well equipped kitchen Location & views Parking space very handy Negatives; Lounge area has v uncomfortable settees - could fit a squidgy corner settee in for more comfort Wasted dining room space Mattresses are rock hard and quilts are thin -woke up every day with neck and back ache September is hit & miss weather wise so needs thicker quilts Needs privacy film so you still have the view put on the front door glass - as everyone looks in If you had children there is no tv in bedroom or in this day and age for an adult if they fancied watching another programme on an evening Wi fi is hit and miss Floor lamp in room instead of full light on These are our findings over a week it was a good looking cottage in great location and I’m sure cost a lot to refurbish but needs better quality furnishings apart from ikea beds which are fine for occasional use but not for continuous use which the cottage is booked out month on end so maybe some money put back in to it for quality mattresses and settee.

Im glad we stayed but it wasn’t comfortable enough for us to return but as it is booked out all the time I’m sure that won’t matter .

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location.

The cottage was immaculately clean and obviously well cared for by the owners. The location is fantastic, we were able to enjoy views of the sea from every window. It was a bonus to have the space to park our car, in fact we never felt the need to use it due to the proximity of all the amenities. Great walks straight from your door either along the beach or on the cliff tops which offered stunning views. We would love to return one day ( was fully booked for my dates next year) Sunrise is a credit to its owners, thank you for sharing it with us

The cottage was very clean and we felt very safe staying there .

The furnishings were beautiful and we could tell that a great deal of thought had been put into them .We appreciated the book of information and the email from the owner on the day before our holiday was reassuring. The muffins and prosecco were a lovely surprise as was the wecome note from the ladies who did such a wonderful job ensuring that the cottage was extra clean.

Absolutely wonderful, The premises were previously in a state of disrepair for a very long time , I was Chairman of Tourism for Filey for a number of years & Hotel General Manager at The Downcliffe Hotel just up the road from Sunrise .

What a breathtaking surprise the Sunrise is since it has been upgraded to its present form .

The house is in a great position and lives up to its name of Sunrise!

It was lovely to watch the sun come up while having coffee. It is well equipped and very clean, and having a parking space is very helpful. Just a couple of very minor points - need to provide hand towels for the bathrooms and the wifi was extremely slow, but usable. Filey seafront and beach are lovely and excellent if you just want a stroll. The town is well equipped with a Spar and a Tesco, plus plenty of independent shops. We loved our holiday at Sunrise so much, that we booked for the same week next year while we were there! Highly recommended

Easy to book cottage breaks on line

We have always taken a weeks break in Oct/Nov to relax at the end of the year.

The minute we walked into Sunrise there was a peaceful air about the place, it was comfortable warm and peaceful with everything one would need for a relaxing break. Bracing walks along the sea front with our little dog what more could we want. A couple of things to mention it could benefit by the addition of a grab rail over the bath/shower and a small railing outside the front door. Otherwise Perfect.

The location of the property was fantastic.

The house is so smart, practical and very stylish, we were very impressed with everything. Absolutely beautiful, breath taking views. A lovely holiday I will never forget. Lots of passer's by stopped us to ask about the house it seemed to have captured everyone's attention. We gave out information to several people.

The cottage is very clean and comfortable and ideally positioned.

We had a lovely weeks holiday. Our only complaint was that we were woken up on 2 days by the builder who was building the wall and laying paving at the side of the cottage.This meant that the gate was not attached and we could not sit out on the front safely with the dog. Once he has built the patio it will be an even better venue.Filey is a lovely town and very clean and peaceful . We would definitely return Dave and Sue

Sunrise was exceptional it was all it said in the brochure, renovation was to a high standard extremely comfortable even the beds, sea views were fantastic even though we had a lot of rain.

But we can’t control the British weather welcome pack was good , nothing negative to say it was fabulous.

The cottage was delightful and the location is perfect.

Having private parking is such a bonus in Filey. We would have liked a table outdoors for coffee etc and really would have appreciated a plug socket near a mirror for drying hair. Otherwise it was great and we have already booked for next year.

What a lovely cottage the website didn’t do it justice.

We couldn’t Believe it when we got there it looked small from the outside but turned out to be a tardis. We absolutely loved our stay there. I could lay in bed & watch the sunrise over the sea & watch the tide coming in & the huge beach. It was spectacular. We enjoyed reading about the history & renovation of the cottage which has been done sympathetically & to a very high standard. Loved it thank you & would love to come back.

Loved this holiday cottage and so did our girls.

The location of SUNRISE is fabulous for many reasons especially the morning sunrise and views out to sea.

A place to be able to walk along the beach (subject to tide times) and promenade and to be able 'switch off' and enjoy life!! The parking space provided is an excellent addition as the area in front (across the road) of the cottage is difficult when Filey is busy with visitors. Due to local authority restrictions, there is no parking allowed directly in front of the cottage. The WiFi connection (as instructed) worked well in the conservatory behind the cottage. The layout of the cottage is excellent. It has all 'white goods' and equipment. Useful to do some washing before we returned home!! The cottage was very clean upon arrival and with furnishings and decorations to a high standard. SUNRISE is very comfortable and cosy. Spacious for four people to stay. We do not have a pet but the house did not have any traces of any pets being 'on holiday' before us when we arrived. We ate in house as there is a well-known supermarket not far away to purchase our needs very well. We have already booked for later in the year when we again will look forward to our break at SUNRISE and enjoy all that it has to offer.

The position is wonderful.

Able to see the sea at all times, through all windows. The weather was brilliant so we enjoyed walks from the house. Very comfortable. Filey is friendly with a variety of shops and great fish and chips. We are going again!

The location of Sunrise cottage is perfect and right on the beach front.

It is very beautifully renovated with everything for a wonderful holiday and very comfortable. We had wonderful walks on the beach and on the breath taking Filey Brigg . We also recommend visiting Baker’s Cafe for fantastic bacon rolls.We wanted to stay longer and would love to return .
