  • "A lovely home, in a perfect spot."

The home has everything you need, the garden is fabulous, especially for dogs. Locked and double gated. The boot room is an added extra, again great for dogs after a morning at the beach! We’ve stayed in several cottages in flamborough and this one is in a great spot, off the main road, so quiet, yet perfectly located for walks and popping to the village. We will definitely be back :)

That's so kind of you Claire. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay and you're more than welcome back anytime Thank you for looking after the house as if it were your own and for following the house rules Hopefully our paths will cross again in the future Alison Property Owner

  • "This is the second time we have stayed at Rosewood Cottage."

The facilities are perfect for our type of holiday. Flamborough is a lovely place to stay, with plenty of places to eat and drink and access to the surrounding area of coast is easy. There are also hidden beaches which are great for kids to play; which are walkable from Flamborough and the sea-side style attractions not far to travel by car.

Lovely to hear how you enjoy the area. Thank you also for being a fab guest, leaving the house so nice and tidy and following the house rules. Hope you'll return again. Alison Property Owner

  • "This is a little gem of a find."

The cottage, garden and environs has everything that is needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. The cliff walks in the area are beautiful, I especially enjoyed South Landing and the beach and little cafe there. Flamborough village has a Co-op for provisions and a number of pubs, all of which serve food. The Seabird was a favourite. I would recommend making a reservation, as we were disappointed on one night when everywhere was full! Rosewood Cottage is perfect, if I go back to Flamborough, I would definitely stay there again. It had everything we needed and provided a cosy base to return to after a day out. The sitting area outside was a lovely little suntrap - sheltered from any wind and a great place for afternoon tea. An ideal location to base ourselves as walkers as Flamborough Head, Bempton and Danes Dyke were all within walking distance.

  • "Comfortable, clean (very) and had all we needed for a good holiday."

The road was quiet and shops were near. I prefer a dark bedroom which was not possible as there are modern blind units fitted to the window and no curtains: but that is personal thing and no reason why we would not visit again. As far as facilities are concerned it 'said it on the tin' and everything was as we expected from the website and details provided by the owner.

As we are very early risers, we'd not though about the darkness/lightness of the bedrooms. We're to put black out curtains in each of the bedroom as soon as we can. Thank you ,Peter, for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am very pleased to hear that standards were met. Again thank you for your positive comments. Kind regards Alison Property Owner

  • "Great location for visiting some fantastic places in and around flamborough."

Aesthetically the house looks of a high finish but unfortunately the interior furnishing badly let this property down. The sofas are aged and uncomfortable and certainly a squeeze for more than three people. The beds are of a similar age sloping and lumpy(they tried and failed to remedy this with a mattress topper) resulting in uncomfortable sleeps for my family. Please leave the holiday cottage in a better condition than you found it. If you don’t, you will receive a curt text message nine days after your stay rating your departure cleanliness!! A score of 3/10 for us The reason for our score? Crisps were found under the sofa… A cushion cover had tomato sauce on it (we would gladly have paid for a new one if given the opportunity) and apparently a bottle of oil had been spilt over the cooker. Had such an event happened (which it didn’t) we would of course mentioned it. The lack of respect for our integrity left us quite shocked and sullied our experience. To sum up; good location, aged furniture and an owner with antagonistic communication.

Having read the last review, following the 9th July visit, we were disappointed to have had a call from our dedicated housekeeper letting us know the house had been left in an unusual condition to how our other guests have and hopefully will always leave it. “To ensure that at the end of that period the Property is left in the same state of order and cleanliness in which it was found.” as stated in Sykes booking conditions. Also, we never sent a text regarding cleanliness. It's important, especially with the climate as it is, for house rules to be observed. Amongst other issues, the bin hadn't been put out on the collection day, leaving us to have to empty it, bag it up, clean, disinfect the bin and take the full bin of waste to the recycle tip. Luckily, we were arriving on the same day for a week for a maintenance visit and Covid check. We would have been embarrassed for any future guests to have been met with the property’s condition. The sofa is a Laura Ashley Italian Leather sofa which is only 3 years old. The beds were bought at the same time. If we have any future complaints about the mattress, we will take it back to Ikea as it's still under warranty. We work hard to keep the cottage to a good standard so that it gives others the opportunity to enjoy Flamborough and its surrounding area as we do. The full refund of the £125 Good Housekeeping bond was returned back as a gesture of goodwill. Property Owner

The area was delightful. We loved it. We enjoyed great bird watching and walking. 2. Communications with Sykes: Making the booking and follow-up communication was the main difficulty. Very difficult finding a way of contacting Sykes by phone or e-mail. (The advice to view my account on line was not helpful, as my computer would not recognise it. ) Once I got to speak to someone, it was ok.. 3. Communication with the owner: she could not have been more helpful and positive .Thank you Allison.

We all loved it, it was so comfy and had everything we could want. The garden was just perfect too - we all loved sitting out (and our wee dog loved to chase and bark at the “big” birds sitting in the trees!) We stayed well away from the larger towns and beaches and stayed mostly local. The walks along the cliffs at Flamborough are great and the views are spectacular so we missed out on nothing! Bird watching at Bempton is a must too! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

We own a holiday caravan not far away but unfortunately our site closes down for 3 months. The cottage was ideal it had everything we needed and would be an ideal place to stay in the summer months with the beautiful back garden and built in barbecue not to mention all the areas of natural beauty close by. Seals can be spotted off Flamborough Head and from May to the end of June you can see Puffins Kittiwakes Guillimots Razorbills and Fulmar. Gannets can also be seen flying just above the waves as they make their way to the higher cliffs to nest. I would also recommend a visit to Bempton RSPB Centre a short drive away.
