North Farm

Another wonderful week at North Farm!

This is our 3rd visit in the last 12months and yet again it didn't disappoint! Thank you to the owners for helping make my 4yr old nephew's birthday really special! We enjoyed days out at Auckland Palace, Diggerland, Crimdon Beach, Hartlepool Historic Quay and Binchester Roman Fort (a real hidden gem!). Sedgefield Car Boot Sale was a big hit with the littles too. Plenty of space for 3 branches of the family to come together including dogs and 3 children. We'll definitely be back. Thank you again.

Plenty of mugs and big towels! Lovely cake, too. Lots to do in the area. We had an enjoyable week. N.B. it’s 0.6 miles further down the lane than Google thinks!

Beautiful house with everything we needed, exceeded our expectations.

Very, very comfy beds with plenty of space. Wonderful homemade cake on arrival was also a really nice touch. We were pleasantly surprised that there was also a tumble drier even though it wasn't listed, however we actually used the washing line outside but it was good to know the option was there. Wonderful location and so much around to see.

Gorgeous house in a very peaceful and tranquil location.

Great outdoor space and living/dining/cooking space. Comfortable beds. The photos don't really do it justice, has to be seen to be appreciated. Exceeded our needs and expectations for the weekend and was great. Would book again if visiting the area. Thank you.

Excellent in every way

Second time staying at North Farm and it was just as lovely as the last time.

Quiet location, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great shower pressure, well equipped kitchen. The Victoria sponge cake and bubbles were also very much appreciated. Highly recommend!

Just a lovely property.

Really well equipped kitchen, and genuinely comfortable throughout. Too many places have horrible sofas and lumpy beds, but this place had neither of those. A great rural location with peace and quiet and friendly comms from the owners. Would recommend .

we stayed here for 2 nights in November to celebrate our friends birthday.

Beautiful property, set in a peaceful location. The interior of the house is gorgeous. Everything was finished to a high standard. The beds and bedding were so comfortable, Thank you for the delicious homemade cake and a bottle of fizz. The logs for the fire were really appreciated. the layout of the house was perfect for us to all comfortably spend time together. We will definitely return!

Having enjoyed our summer holiday here so much, it was a no-brainer to book again for half term.

The house is fantastic and there's loads to do round about. Shopping and lunch in Sedgefield was a real highlight (some lovely little independent shops and The Pickled Parson was great for a good value lunch). Great local car boot sale too. House itself is very comfortable, warm and cosy. Home made cake and fizz was very much appreciated. Thank you again for a wonderful break and I'm sure we'll book again soon. Its a lovely part of the world and a lovely spot to visit it from.

Beautiful countryside farmhouse.

Quiet location with a great, well maintained enclosed garden. Very warm and welcoming on arrival. Extremely comfortable and well appointed, everything provided. Lovely home-made cake and wine, thank you. Great walks locally. Centrally situated for easy access to North East attractions. Happy to recommend to others. Many thanks.

What a wonderful cottage - listing is accurate and the house and garden is beautiful.

Kitchen is incredible well equipped for both adult and child guests. Great selection of books, DVDs, games and toys (both indoor and outdoor) too keep everyone entertained which was brilliant. Garden is smaller than expected but incredibly secure for both children and dogs (although we put the BBQ in front of the gate to deter little fingers from opening it). Lovely walks from the door (on country lanes) and plenty of wildlife (rabbits, bats, hares, grouse, partridges etc.) - we even saw a Tawny Owl perched on the lamppost which was a real treat! TV in main living area was a bit small for the room and did keep switching itself on and off in the middle of films/programmes - not sure if this is a fault? Plenty of space for 7 people over 3 generations of the family plus 2 dogs. The homemade Victoria Sponge Cake was very much appreciated - thank you! There's so much to do in the area. We enjoyed: Tanfield Railway, Raby Castle, Diggerland (Durham), Hartlepool Historic Quay, Ormsby Hall and Beamish of course. We absolutely ran out of time before running out of things to do. Just a perfect sunny week in beautiful County Durham! Of 30 something years of self-catering cottage holidays, North Farm is definitely one of the very best! We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful house in a lovely location

This is a super property, a little off the beaten track therefore nice and quiet.

Very spacious, extremely clean throughout, comfortable beds, adjustable heating so warm & cosy. Cake and Prosecco a lovely touch, as were the dog towels & bowl which were provided. A truly wonderful home from home experience.

This was a fantastic, warm, cosy, perfect place to stay for our New Year family get together.

Attention to detail and comfort was top notch ! The festive decorations and tree were so lovely, not forgetting the delicious " home made " cake & prosecco on arrival. We will definitely be back !!

A lovely house, the beds were super comfortable and everything we needed in the kitchen for 8 people.

All the fittings and furnishings were good quality and the house had a very luxurious feel. The welcome cake and cava were very much appreciated, we couldn’t have 2 showers going at the same time due to pressure, but loads of hot water. It was cold when we visited in November and the house was very warm and cosy. Would have no hesitation in staying in the house again.

It was a lovely house which was well stocked with crockery etc.

There was lots of games, DVDs and books available for entertainment. The beds were very comfortable and the log burner was very much appreciated.

North Farm is an exceptional house, in a perfect country location.

3 generations of my family recently stayed here and North Farm had everything we needed to enjoy our holiday. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you might need. The dining room table was huge, comfortably seated 9 of us, and there was an ample stack of board games to play. The living room seated us all in comfort, without the need for anyone to sit on the floor! It was, all in all, a wonderful place to stay.

A wonderful New Year weekend break for the 6 adults and 3 children in our party.

The accommodation was festively decorated adding to it’s charm and cosiness. Every need was met with a warm welcome of a home baked cake and wine. Ocado delivery easily found the house despite the rural location. We had taken a selection of board games for the children but didn’t need to as there were plenty available. The 9 of us enjoyed our roast dinner after cooking in a very well equipped kitchen and being able to keep the food hot in the server. It was a damp cold weekend so we didn’t venture out much, only to walk our 2 dogs at the nearby Hardwick Park. (Well worth a visit) and on our return a convenient rear porch with dog towels made available. Highly recommend.

Fantastic property with all the essentials for a relaxing break.

Have been using Sykes for many years and north farm is one of the best properties I have stayed in.

The warmest welcome to a beautifully refurbished cottage, ideally situated to enjoy the house and garden and to explore the area.

The pictures don’t do it justice, it is clean, comfortable and incredibly well thought through. A perfect location for a break.

A lovely, well-appointed house in a quiet rural spot.

The rooms are all spacious, clean comfortable and nicely furnished and the sheltered garden proved to be an effective sub-trap. Sedgefield, with its range of pubs, cafes and restaurants, is a pleasant walk away. The owner left some edible and drinkable goodies as a thoughtful welcome gift. Recommended for a restful holiday break. Matt

What a great find!

North Farm is close to lots of beautiful countryside and some lovely towns / villages. The house itself is decorated to a very high standard. In particular, it was a pleasure to cook in the exceptionally well equipped kitchen and the bathrooms were very clean and felt like you were staying in a fancy hotel. Our dog could play safely in the enclosed garden. The delicious cake on arrival was a lovely and welcoming touch. The owners live nearby so are there to help if you need to it. We'd highly recommend North Farm and we will be back.
