What guests are saying
Loved this property and location a few issues with the high threshold at front door which could benefit from a small step before threshold.
The floor as soon as you step in is very unstable and soft in some places which made you careful about stepping on it. Lovely enclosed safe garden for our ladies and benefits from extended garden through the gate. Lovely welcome packs for us and our doggies which was a lovely addition. We had a very comfortable stay.
The property was very clean.
The king size bed was very comfortable. It was like home from home with all facilities available. The place was very roomy and very comfortable. The back garden was fully enclosed with wooden open fence with wire netting to keep my dog secure The booklet was very well written to ensure you settle in quickly. I would reccommend this property to friends and family. Dave H.
Really like Flamborough and surrounding areas.
Don't like "Puffin". We are both close to 80 years old and there are areas we feel were hazardous to us. The settees were too low and we had to pull each other up. The floor levels are all over the place and for us it was difficult to walk on floor. The step into cottage was too high and we had to pull ourselves in using door jamb. No shower mat in shower which is slippy. All these topics have been mentioned in previous reviews and nothing has been done about them. Not good for us at our age.
Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the time you have taken to raise your concerns regarding the property. Whilst I note your comments about the suitability of the cottage, I would suggest that guests advise Sykes of any specific accessibility or mobility requirements prior to their stay. We can then discuss these directly with the owner to help ensure the property is suitable for their individual needs. I can confirm that your comments have been passed to the park and owner for their consideration, including your observations regarding accessibility and suitability for elderly guests. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback. Customer comments are important in helping owners review and improve their properties.
this is an amazing cottage well presented, very clean and well appointed, but i am disabled and the sofas are very low, so for me quite difficult to use.
I have mobility issues and the floors are quite unstable in places, i am sure this would be fine for most, but for me a problem. All in all still a very good value few days. many thanks
Hi Trevor, Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so pleased to hear you found the cottage clean, well presented and well equipped, and that you enjoyed your stay overall. Had a lovely weekend at puffin cottage.
Good sized accommodation, nice fenced off and secure area at the back for the Dogs. Very well equipped. Can 100% recommend and hope to return again.
Hi Michael, Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your weekend at Puffin Cottage and found it spacious, well equipped and perfect for the dogs with the secure garden area. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you and your dogs back again soon. Kind Regards, Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holiday Cottages
We stayed hear for 7 days from 12th June to the 19th June.
We had a lovely stay the property is close to Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington and a 45 minute drive from Whitby. The kitchen is well equipped and beds are very comfy. On arrival there was a crayed carpet edve which was a trip hazard and a towel holder hanging off the wall I reported this and the issues where resolved quickly on the day of reporting. The shower was powerful and plenty of hot water but the shower is very slippery so needs a shower mat and could do with a hand rail as you come out of it as it is not flat to the floor. The garden is great if you have dogs as fully secure. The property is lovely needs a little tlc as some of the skirting boards where not clean and the sofas have seen better days as they are to low to be comfortable for people over 55. I

We were very comfortable and warm in the well equipped property.
It was very clean. But could do with some maintenance and TLC. The front door was damaged when we arrived. A hinge pin hanging out of it. Our dog loved the secure garden and adjoining field. We will certainly be returning next year. Thank you Jacki John and staff at the Grange.
Hi Sandra, Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re delighted to hear you were comfortable and warm during your stay, and that you found the property clean and well equipped. We had a lovely week at The Grange, the cottage was immaculate, as it was last year.
An ideal base for us with our two dogs and all the lovely walks around and about within a short distance. We will definitely return!
HI Judith, Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear you had another wonderful stay with us and found the cottage immaculate once again. We enjoyed a lovely few days at Puffin Cottage.
Comfy, practical and aesthetically pleasing accommodation with easy access to surrounding attractions and beautiful scenery. A couple of little maintenance issues - frayed carpet threshold into the living room which could be a trip hazard; The shower was a great size and clean but needs some minor maintenance around the floor of the cubicle and door frame. Could do with curtains on the double bedroom window as there's a security light directly outside which stayed on all night and the venetian blind didn't block it everso well. Also, there was no hairdryer - only a very slight inconvenience. Altogether though, we enjoyed the stay very much!

We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Puffin Cottage and found the accommodation comfortable, practical, and beautifully located for exploring the area. These have all been raised with our team for their attention. We also wanted to let you know that a hairdryer has now been placed in the property following your stay. We really appreciate your helpful feedback, and we’re so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your few days with us overall. We’d love to welcome you back again in the future. Lovely few days at Puffin cottage.
Well equipped, everything you'd need, including dishwasher. Stayed at two other cottages on the site previously. Puffin is the best if you have a dog as only cottage with an enclosed outside area. Comfy bed but sofa's are very low for us oldies !! Lovely meals at the Viking hotel served all day. Two good fish and chip shops in the village. Hunmanby Gap beach dog friendly and lovely walk along the beach to Filey.
Hi Janet, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Puffin Cottage, especially appreciating the enclosed garden for your dog and the comfy bed. It’s great to know you enjoyed the local food spots and walks too! We’ll take note about the sofas and appreciate the feedback. Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon. We had a lovely week at Puffin Cottage.
It had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was well-equipped and the enclosed garden was perfect. It’s a great base for exploring the area either on foot or by car. We hope to return soon!
Hi Valerie, Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you had a lovely week at Puffin Cottage and that it had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. It’s great to know the garden and location worked well for your adventures too. We’d love to welcome you back again soon! Kind Regards, Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays
Lovely place really comfortable and a lovely place to stay would highly recommend.
Only thing I would suggest would be curtains in the bedrooms as the blinds didn’t shut out the light so if a light sleeper then the early sun rise did wake you. But really didn’t affect our stay and we would stay again if in the area
Hi Nikolah, Thank you for your kind review! We’re so pleased to hear you found the property comfortable and would highly recommend it. Your feedback about the bedroom blinds is much appreciated — we’ll certainly take it on board as we continue to make improvements. We're glad it didn’t affect your overall stay, and we’d love to welcome you back if you're in the area again! Kind Regards Jacki and The Team At The Grange Holidays
We had a lovely few days in puffin cottage,it was clean and warm, with comfortable beds,in quiet surroundings, near all local visiting sites.
we are looking forward to staying at grange cottages again later in year,
We had a lovely girls weekend away at Puffin cottage.
The cottage was clean and the facilities were good and the enclosed garden was ideal for our dogs. It was within walking distance to the beach/cliff walk/town so was ideal for a nice relaxing weekend. We are looking to book again for next year and would 100% recommend anyone to stay here.

Absolutely amazing place to stay, everything was as described and pictured, for the first time in a long time,we(humans)and the pugs didn't want to go home as there was so much more to explore, beautiful part of the country, housekeepers were absolutely lovely and so was Jacki (the owner) who we met on our stay, also having the added bonus of a secure garden made our stay even more enjoyable and relaxing.
Thank you so much Jacki and Jonny for the perfect holiday x

Fantastic little cottages, this is the second time we've stayed and this time was in the puffin.
Contact before was fantastic and sorted our accommodation exactly how we needed it with our 13 week old child. Perfect place. Will be staying again would highly recommend
Hi Liam , Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your second stay with us, this time in Puffin Cottage. We previously stayed in gannett but this time we booked in puffin.
Was nice good for the dog being enclosed at the back should all be like that.Lovely beds and well equipped. shower too low pressure and door was sticking fridge was noisy at night so that disturbed sleep other than that we will return again as its a lovely peaceful place and parking a must. These are not complaints just things that need addressing .
Hi Pauline, Thank you for your lovely review, and we’re so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Puffin Cottage! We’re glad the enclosed garden worked well for your dog and that you found the beds comfortable and the cottage well-equipped. We appreciate you bringing the shower pressure, door, and fridge issues to our attention. Following previous feedback, we’ve recently installed a new shower, and following your additional feedback we’ve had a plumber return to re-investigate the pressure, so it should perform much better for future stays. We’ll also be looking into the fridge noise to ensure it doesn’t affect our guests’ sleep. Thank you for your understanding and for noting that these are minor things to address. We’re thrilled that you plan to return, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our peaceful location soon! Warm regards, Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays
The property itself was much nicer than the photos showed.
Lovely welcome pack, especially for the dogs. The main issue was with the shower. There was lack of shower pressure, and the extraction fan did not work in the bathroom. It was also obvious with the debris from the sill the front door has been an issue for a while. The door was very stiff to open and close, and likely to be damaged in the future if not rectified. Otherwise, a lovely place to stay, and highly recommended. Excellent communication with the owners before the holiday. Thank you.
Hi Sharon, Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We’re so glad to hear that you found the property even nicer than the photos and appreciated the welcome pack, especially for your dogs. We sincerely appreciate you bringing the issues with the shower, extractor fan, and door to our attention. Following your report, the extractor fan has been fixed, and a new shower has now been installed to improve the water pressure. We’ve also noted the condition of the door and sill, and we have plans in place to replace them to prevent any further issues. We’re thrilled you had a lovely stay and that communication with us was smooth. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back again soon! Warm regards, Jacki and The Team At The Grange Holidays
Lovely Property, very spacious and in a quiet part of Flamborough.

Lovely, clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage.
Spacious but cosy. Dog friendly (enclosed area outside back door is a real plus). We would stay here again and recommend to friends.
Dear Julia, Thank you so much for your kind review! We're delighted to hear that you found the cottage lovely, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It's great to know the enclosed area for your dog was a real plus for you. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would love to welcome you back for another stay in the future! Excellent excellent excellent.
Hi Geoff, Thank you so much for the fantastic feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that you had an excellent stay. We hope to welcome you back soon! Kind Regards Jacki at The Grange Holidays
Stayed in the puffin.
Ideally behind conifers in fenced off garden, to have a fence for additional security as my dogs learnt to go through them onto shared grass area. Also wifi went off 1 night for a short time tried to call numbers given around 7pm - no answer. Not sure if phones are covered only in the day?
Hi Tracey, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Puffin Cottage. We appreciate your suggestions regarding the fencing and are currently exploring solutions with our maintenance team to ensure it provides the additional security needed for our furry friends. We’re also aware of the WiFi issue you mentioned and are looking into upgrading to prevent future disruptions. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the lack of response to your call. We have guests services which is non emergency operating during core day time hours, we then have an emergency number which is available to guests during there stay where contact and support can be reach 24/7. Our maintenance team did attend site regarding reports to the Wifi on 3rd September, we hope when improvements are finalised it will ensure a better experience for future and returning guests. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to welcome you and your dogs back soon for a more seamless stay. Kind Regards Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays
Excellent cottage and facilities and location.
The welcome pack was really appreciated. We had a problem with toilet cistern but Adam and maintenance crew were on it immediately and sorted it whilst we were out enjoying the holiday. One improvement would be to extend the garden fencing where the conifers are. We had dogs from neighbours in our garden and our dogs escaped as well so dogs could not be let out into garden unaccompanied. But a wonderful cottage - Thankyou.
Dear Geraldine, Thank you for your excellent review! We're delighted that you enjoyed the cottage, facilities, and location. It’s wonderful to hear that the welcome pack was appreciated. We’re also glad Adam and our maintenance team could quickly resolve the toilet issue, allowing you to continue enjoying your holiday without interruption. Your feedback about the garden fencing is very helpful. We do have plans to look into the fencing near to the conifers to ensure a safe and secure area for all our guests and their furry friends. Thank you for your kind words, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! Best regards, Jacki & The Grange Holidays Team
We loved our stay at the cottage, it was extremely comfortable and we had everything we could possibly need.
There was quite a lot of loose newspaper and rubbish outside the back door under the hedge on the afternoon we arrived but this was cleared the next day. We would definitely recommend the cottage though and return again as it was ideal for what we needed and very close to both Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Lighthouse which are the places we were there to visit.
Hi Carole, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you loved your stay at the cottage and found it extremely comfortable with everything you needed. It's great to know that the location was ideal for visiting Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Lighthouse. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the loose newspaper and rubbish outside the back door upon your arrival. We're glad to hear it was cleared promptly the next day. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we would love to welcome you back for another stay in the future! Best regards, Jacki and The Team at The Grange Holidays
Very clean and comfortable cottage.
Being disabled I would have loved a doorstep at the front door as I found it rather a high step into the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking again in the future.
Dear Ann, thank you for your review. We're so pleased you enjoyed staying with us and look forward to welcoming you again. Thanks for alerting us to the difficulty getting up to the front door. We'll see what we can do about that. Jacki The Grange Holidays Flamborough Limited
Lovely peaceful break.
Very clean and comfortable. They had thought of everything that would be needed. The only critisism would be the shower temp on the first night was cold. Better on the second and the pressure. Otherwise a great stay.
Dear Melody, We're so pleased you enjoyed a peaceful break with us. Thank you for letting us know about the shower temperature and pressure. We had our maintenance team look at that and they've topped up the system which should prevent the issue from reoccuring. We how to welcome you to The Grange again another time. Kindest regards, Jacki
