Pear Tree Cottage

This is a beautiful cottage and perfect for our family as a base for exploring York.

Really clean and modern and the outside space was amazing too.

Easy to find with safe & secure parking.

Accommodation is modern and minimalist (no hooks or shelves in bathroom or ensuite, no wardrobe in 2nd bedroom), and we found the lounge sofas too soft for comfort. Very thin wall dividing the other accommodation and unfortunately we had to endure the neighbours toddler screaming at various times throughout the night and looked forward to sleeping in our own beds at home. Very clean throughout apart from the flooring - Very dirty socks! Upstairs bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even with the window fully open - and they'res just no need for the Winter duvet in July! Great location for the York Park and Ride (6 minutes drive), and the local pizza shop is great. OK, but hard to recommend this accommodation.

We did stay on the tailend of a heatwave and the building has no insulation which means it was definitely going to be uncomfortable regardless of what the owners did.

BUT there were still winter duvets on the beds and not even a fan in the understair storage (although there were three electric heaters for if it got cold). Swapping the bed linen according to the forecast (or at least providing an alternative) would have helped a LOT. The outside space is beautifully maintained and has a small playground which our kid loved and a lovely gazebo to eat under when hot and sunny. Everything was lovely and clean.

This was a lovely cottage clean and comfortable and suited our needs perfectly.

We were there in Feb but the place was warm and comfortable. One thing I did miss thought the cottage was light and airy from teh skylights there were not any windows that you could look out of which I think I would have missed if it had been the summer weather. However there was a covered sitting area outside for geusts to enjoy.

Pear Tree Cottage is lovely.

Spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. It worked really well for children with a nice playarea and feels safe and quiet but very convenient for York. The log fire and welcome pack made us feel at home.

This is the second time we have stayed at Fir Tree Farm, last year in Apple Tree and this year in Pear Tree cottage.

Pear Tree is a lovely cottage, very clean and well maintained with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The location is very quiet and is ideally situated for the Park and Ride into York.

We had a great holiday staying at Pear Tree Cottage for a week.

The cottage is lovely, plenty of space and all the facilities you might require. More clothes hanging/bathroom hooks and an airer for hanging washing would be the only improvement needed. The cottage suited us well for visiting Helmsley, Stamford Bridge and The Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It is only a short drive to one of the Park & Ride car parks which made going into York city centre very easy and stress free. I would definitely recommend Pear Tree Cottage.

Near to the park and ride for the centre of York. But back to tranquility at the end of the day Meticulously clean, warm and appropriately appointed . Highly recommend

It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. York is a short distance away and very easy to access via the nearby Park and Ride facility. The cottage is located in a rural area which is quiet and peaceful and we all slept very well indeed. The cottage provided everything we needed and we very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped.

The owners were welcoming and helpful. Access was secure and accessed by key fob. Plenty of on site parking. I would highly recommend this cottage and we will certainly return.

Beautiful cottage and perfect location, had a lovely time exploring york, theirs a lovely pub with in walking distance and a shop and the bus stop to get into york is only a few minutes walk.

We had a wonderful stay at Pear Tree Cottage.

The cottage has everything you would need, the kitchen is well equipped and forms part of the open plan living space. The underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm and the log burner was lovely and cosy in the evening. Welcome pack was lovely too, we enjoyed the scones, jam and cream. Its conveniently located just a few miles from Grimston Bar park and ride, the bus takes you straight into York where you can visit all the attractions. Would certainly recommend, lovely cottage in a great location.

Great property nice friendly people quiet relaxing ideal base for visiting sights

A great place to stay for a weekend away exploring York.

Lovely cottage with comfy furnishings and lots of space for two couples so you don't feel on top of eachother. Enough parking for two cars but would recommend taking public transport into the city as parking is expensive during the day. It's only a short bus ride into York from a bus stop on the main road. The cottage is well equipped for a short stay but I'd recommend bringing a few basics for the kitchen like a tea towel, kitchen roll, hand soap and sugar as we needed to bring our own or buy while we were out. Definitely recommend the Balloon Tree Farm Shop nearby for breakfast and local produce.

This is a beautiful property in a wonderful location, with all the things a person may need.

Towels are maybe a touch small, but I suspect that's a personal preference thing. Lovely and peaceful and watching the boxing hares in the fields by the garden (with small playground!) was magical.

We have returned to Pear Tree cottage three times,and hoping to return again next spring.

My wife and I thought that this was a superb place.

Clean, bright, spacious, well furnished and friendly owners. The location was in the countryside, about 15 minutes on the bus to the centre of York. We would highly recommend as a place to stay.

Secure parking, as they have an electric gate. Bus stop up the road for travel into York or a park and ride not far away. Ideally placed to visit Yorkshire.

Big enough for 4 people. Really clean and tidy. Nice and convenient for York and the surrounding areas and attractions.

Friendly owners - the welcome pack was a nice touch! The duvets were too heavy for the time of year. Girls enjoyed the outside space! Grimston bar park & ride was ideal for exploring York! Lovely food at the St Vincents Arms in a nearby village. We had a fab stay at Pear tree cottage!

This is a well thought through property, easily kept clean and has all the facilities required for a relaxing holiday.

The owners are delightful, and discrete. York Park&Ride is only 10 minutes away - making for a very easy trip into York. Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage - very spacious and warm with underfloor heating and good quality fittings.

Main road to York is very busy but once out you are within 10 mins to the city centre. Pear Tree Cottage offers a home from home level of comfort.

A clean ,comfortable cottage in a great location for visiting York and the Yorkshire Wolds.

Grimstone Bar park and ride just a few miles down the road. Lovely welcome basket with eggs ,scones etc. Adequate space available for parking two cars. Kitchen well equipped. Friendly hosts , all in all an excellent stay.

Welcome basket was nice touch. Felt very secure with the electronic gate. The lack of wardrobe in twin room could be addressed by putting one on the wall next to cabinet as the one in the double room was quite small so wouldn't fit 4 adults clothing. Also could do with a pair of tongs to use when grilling. Maybe extra crockery as found was having to put dishwasher on when not full as needed cups and plates.

Overall the property was as described, clean and well presented.

However, we feel the description in the listing of an garden/patio is misleading as there is no dedicated outside seating area. This was extremely disappointing as the opportunity to eat/socialise outside as a family is really important for us as a family. Apple tree cottage has its own private outside seating area, but the Pear Tree doesn't. The upstairs bedroom didn't have sufficient ventilation, and in the hot weather was unbearable at night with temperatures over 25oC. Perhaps a fan could be provided during hot spells?

We had a lovely week in York and Pear Tree Cottage was a great base, it was well equipped and comfortable.

It was our second visit to this lovely cottage, Everything was perfect, just like the first time.

Generally positive but disappointed with the state of the cooking utensils which are showing their age and really need replacing.

The crockery also has crazing. I note that this has been raised by a previous client but no action taken by the owners..

We had to leave a day early after enduring 2 days of building work going on next door from 8am in the morning until 5pm, it was very inconsiderate and should have been informed before booking.

No information booklet about how things work. Crockery, utensils and pans need replacing. Cobwebs need removing and providing a vacuum cleaner would be good for those who like to keep a place nice.

Everything was clean and well looked after. It is a short walk to the excellent Twine & Barrell pub/restaurant, as well as the village centre (including the lovely Old Butcher’s Cafe). Would love to stay again, highly recommend

We had lots of family commitments, (weddings etc). We had the most wonderful holiday in Yorkshire. Using Pear Tree cottage as our base situated just fifteen minutes from York and very central to the rest of Yorkshire. The cottage is picture postcard in a beautiful rural and farming area, it had all the amenities we could ask for, tranquil surroundings an oasis to return to after a 'hard day at mill' ... sightseeing! Just to stay at the cottage as a break would be wonderful as well.

We had a wonderful stay, the cottage is lovely and modern with lots of amenities available.

It felt lovely and secure with the electronic gate, and the owners have clearly put a lot of love and thought into the renovation of this property. We are a family of 4 with two young boys and they both enjoyed their stay at the holiday cottage, it's location near to York made it a great base to explore the local area and beyond. The welcome basket with scones and fresh eggs and milk was a lovely addition. Only minor points to mention, the double mattress was really not very comfortable at all and I was really happy to get home to my own bed. Also I would question how thoroughly the cottage is cleaned on a regular basis, all the touch points in the kitchen bathrooms etc were great but there were quite a few cobwebs in the corners of ceilings, marks on walls and window sills were a little dirty etc. These really were only minor points but in a pandemic it made me question the thoroughness of cleaning. Having said that I would undoubtedly return to the cottage for another stay and would highly recommend it to others.

Comfortable and spacious accommodation for a family of 4.

It had everything that you would need whilst on holiday. There was access to a large garden for the children to play in. Great location for exploring York and the surrounding areas. Lovely welcome pack was provided which was greatly received after a long journey.

What a lovely cottage, great location.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch, the scones were really good. The kitchen area was very well equipped. Security gates at the entrance were good and there was plenty of parking. In the cottage there was plenty of space for either a family or 4 Adults. We would recommend the Twine and Barrel and the Crosskeys pub, both within walking distance of the cottage. The Old Butchers coffee shop in the village of Dunnington is a most for breakfast.

The property was better than expected , the owners were very sociable, the site was ideal to use local facilities such as park & ride to York ,& it was easy to travel to local sightseeing areas.

Yet you are only 15 miles to motorway links.

First day of re-opening after lockdown, so it was a much-needed holiday.

It worked perfectly and was spotless. Exceeded expectations. Location is terrific. Would love to think we can return.

This place was absolutely amazing and we had a very comfortable stay.

If I had to think of anything that could have been better then I would say putting a Wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom would have been better as there was nowhere to hang clothes. Other than that I couldn’t really fault it. Would definitely recommend this place and stay there again.

Pear tree cottage is a lovely place to stay, it is in the perfect location for visiting York.

The farm is very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely look at this place first the next time we come go to york.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely area, second time at this cottage.

Couple of niggles this time and I ended up leaving a day early due to zero sleep all week, the mattresses ... very uncomfortable felt every spring and so loud when you turn in the night. I went here with my mother and daughter and my mother struggled the same in her bed. Also unfortunately the people who booked the adjoining cottage had zero respect for anyone else and insisted on slamming doors and banging and crashing in the middle of the night and shouting (did ruin the holiday but not the cottage/owners fault). En-suite shower also didn’t like to drain so had to keep stopping the shower which made it all take 10 times as long. I would recommend and if a couple changes were made I would visit again. Beautiful location very central and everything and everywhere easy to get to

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and a perfect location for the York Christmas market.

The owners were so friendly and the welcome treats of scones and wine were lovely and very enjoyable after a long drive! There are plenty of good places to eat close by if you don't want to cook....Cross Keys and Pear Tree Farm were excellent. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely book here again and we will not hesitate to recommend it.

Very tidy. Only issue was the comfort of the beds. Apart from that was great.

The owners were very nice people left a nice cream tea and wine for our arrival and nice fresh eggs from there own hens. Would go back again.

The cottage could benefit by having some more crockery and cutlery and also a hairdryer would be beneficial.

Everything was so simple from start to finish with booking, all questions etc answered immediately. When we arrived at property, we expected it to be good but we were delighted everything was so well presented, lovely wine on table with scones jam cream etc in fridge, The pictures don't really do it justice! Excellent accommodation.

Owners very helpful . Ideal base for visiting York, Beverley and the coast.If you have a bus pass buses went past the end of the lane to York. We booked the cottage at short notice and we were able to relax and enjoy the area.The weather was lovely which was an added bonus.The local village had a pub with a restaurant, shops and a cafe.Would recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to spend time in this area.Thank-you to the owners. This was a very well presented cottage with all the facilities that you would need.

Perfectly located for york, dales and moors. Gary and Gillian provided a lovely welcome pack a d were very helpful. Had a great time there, would highly recommend this cottage.

A unique and lovely cottage in a great location (near university, city and ring road - so also great for visits further afield).

The cottage is newly built in an airy, open plan style, with a more traditional exterior. This made for a very pleasant surprise on arrival, where we also met with fresh scones, jam, and wine! Very welcome! The cottage is well equipped and warm, and the beds are very comfy. Would highly recommend. Many thanks for a very pleasant stay. We would love to return.

The rural location, but close enough to york for the park and rides and easy access to the moors and the North Yorkshire coast line .

We were pleasantly surprised 'cause the house was fully equipped with everything you may need and even a bit more, from coffee, tea & milk to dishwasher tablets, toiletries etc.

. My family and i had a wonderful time, the host was extremely helpful, friendly & kind was all clean and tidy easy to find (except for the heating system) we would love to get back as we really enjoyed it, my only criticism would be that i found the bed a little bit uncomfortable otherwise all great.

We were the first booking for this property and were blown away by the quality of the accommodation.

The photos do not do it justice. It is beautifully finished and so spacious with everything you could want. Gary the owner is a great guy and really friendly (without being on top of you). York is around £15 away by taxi which made this property ideal for us as we didn’t have to worry about parking etc. Thank you for a lovely stay and we loved the scones, chocolate, crisps and wine that we’re waiting for us when we arrived! - a lovely thoughtful touch! :)
