  • "This was our second time of staying at the chalets."

No 5 was clean n tidy on arrival. Added bonus of airfryer however not many utensils only 2 of everything, 1 small sharp knife and a tin opener - no cork screw! crockery n glasses were mismatched. There was only 2 bath towels n one hand towel. No hairdryer. The bed was soft, springy and like sleeping on a trampoline. Hot tub was excellent. Definitely need a car to get out n about as nothing in close proximity. Would stay again but not in chalet 5!

5 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was excellent value for money and the chalet was very clean and tidy upon arrival and the hot tub was all ready when we got there. There are lots of leaflets and a booklet of things to do in the local area, which is a great touch! I'd highly recommend trying The Foxhound Inn, which is 10 mins away and dog friendly! The site has a little play park for the little ones and the room was more than big enough for 2 adults, a 2 y/o and a dog. Also to mention, there is a air fryer, which was a great unexpected addition to the chalet. The owner was also incredible when we realised we left something there. We'll definitely be back, thanks again for the lovely get away!

  • "Very different feel to all other places visited through Sykes."

Didn’t feel like we had privacy - walls were paper thin. We could hear the neighbours and the cleaners in the morning. No welcome pack or gift which is very unusual for Sykes properties. This is what demonstrates that the owner cares and is passionate about what they do. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. The only interaction we had from staff was being told to put our dog on the lead. Feels like they’ve been chucked up to make a pretty penny with no real thought and love gone into it. We often revisit properties booked via Sykes but this won’t be one. The positives were that it was very clean and smelled nice upon arrival and was reasonably priced although I have paid similar and got much better value for money.

Thank you for your feedback. We provide complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits etc which has always been welcomed without the expectation of gifts! Following your comments we do very much care about the guests and pride ourselves on the accommodation provided with the chalets being redecorated & furnisher updated regularly. The staff are very approachable and I'm sure would only be reminding you of park rules for both your own safety, the safety of your pets and other park users. Property Owner

  • "After some initial confusion as to whether or not the booking was pet friendly, we were excited about our booking."

On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was bright and clean with everything needed for our short stay. The lack of a bar/ restaurant close enough to the site restricted our choice of evening activity due to the need to drive but we nonetheless managed to entertain ourselves, largely thanks to the hottub which was very pleasant. Somewhere to hang towels/ robes in the hot tub area and the provision of somewhere to place drinks while in the tub are our only suggestions for improvement. Unfortunately on our final evening the occupants of one of the neighbouring chalets caused significant disturbance, disrupting the sleep other visitors and ourselves. The shouting and banging resulting from the drunken behaviour carried easily and very loudly through the chalets which was obviously not ideal. At 3 o clock in the morning we also weren't sure how to report the issue which at times sounded particularly nasty and carried on for some time. Overall, we had a lovely stay with the Snooty fox with the only issues being outside of their control and we would therefore definitely recommend.

  • "Overall, the stay was great and the location was really good (easy to find) and useful to go to places such as Scarborough and Filey (we timed it well for a food festival)."

Others advised they got slippers, robes and towels, however we only had towels. Other than that, the room had everything that we could have asked for. One thing missing from the Sykes Cottages website is that there is an air fryer if you wish to take good for that. The only downside for us was the fact that the beds springs seemed to be broken on onside in the middle meaning it wasn't the best nights sleep that we could have had. The enclosed hot tub was nice meaning we didn't have anyone else using the hot tub with us. We also decided to get a takeaway from The East Takeaway. It came early and was sublime. Would recommend if you don't want to cook. We brought our dog with us and went for a lovely walk each evening under the stars. Couldn't fault it. She loved it also. Myself and my partner would definitely recommend this site.

Thank you for your feedback. From reading your notes we do aim to provide all guests with robes, apologises that this was not the case on your visit. The mattresses do get changed regularly and have now been replaced. We are pleased you've all enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

With a microwave, toaster, kettle and air fryer it had everything we needed for a few days away. The fridge was small, but adequate for what we'd taken. The hot tub and patio area were nice and private. The only downside was the bad was a bit hard, but then that's down to personal preferences. The other downside is there's not much nearby. However, we can highly recommend The East Takeaway in Sherburn. Even better is they're on Just Eat and deliver. Food is really nice and plentiful. Scarborough and Filey are both only 30 minutes away, while Whitby took about an hour. And with York only an hour away too, we're glad we picked Chalet 5 for our trip to this part of the country.

Room was cosy, and hot tub was relaxing. Cleanliness wasn’t 100% the cups weren’t clean, and plates were wet, fridge was quite small, we brought some food and drinks but couldn’t fit everything in the fridge, but wasn’t a huge issue. Carpet near the bed was worn down quite a bit could do with being replaced, bedding was lovely and soft, but however the mattress was quite uncomfortable as it just dipped in the middle. Apart from the small things it’s was a nice little place to stay, reasonable priced for what we got for 4 nights stay, would definitely recommend going only if you have a vehicle as we didn’t and couldn’t really walk anywhere as it was all just roads and things were out the way a bit.

Door handle wasn’t great! As previously been mentioned. Fridge didn’t work, milk went sour. Bathroom was very cold. No sitting facilities other than a chair. Bed very low, Hot tub pleasant, but no lighting. Bath robes provided were filthy! So did not use. The holiday park itself was very clean and quiet, and the guy in the bar was a nice person(older guy) thought the pub would have been nearer, and shops. Over-all, was ok, not terribly impressed as was our Anniversary

The Chalet facilities are clearly listed on Sykes so should have been no surprise as to what was included. We found no issue with the fridge and wish you’d highlighted what you thought was the issue during your stay. Bath robes are always clean, these are provided for hot tub use and do lighten due to the chemicals used, we will endeavour to ensure robes are replaced regularly. Three things that was a bit of a let down, one was the uncomfortable bed and the quality of the bedding, we had to purchase a topper as the mattress was far too hard. The chalet could be enhanced with cooking facilities in addition to the microwave. Lastly Wi-Fi is a must these days especially if tv has Netflix. All in all though we really enjoyed our stay and will be booking again in the future

  • "Just had a 2 night stay at Chalet 5, and I must say the Property has the potential to be very nice however a few major points have let it down for us."

1 - the hot tub, the private patio area itself is very nice and private, however the tub needed a very good clean, after opening the cover on the first evening we noticed the water was already very cloudy, to the point you could not see your hands, we also found a bottle top on the bottom of the tub which was not from us, when the jets are on the tub fills up with bubbles to the point they was almost overflowing within minutes, and lastly the smell, we cut our tub time short because after using the tub the second time we noticed a nasty odour coming from the tub. 2 - the towels, we was only given 3 towels in total, 1 being a hand towel, 1 medium sized and then 1 large bath towel. The hand towel had to be used as a bath mat due to the fact the floor was in the bathroom slippery and no mat was provided. This also meant we had 1 towel per person for both the tub and the shower which was not very hygienic. 3 - the bed, the sheets were fresh and clean however the mattress seemed poor quality meaning it sunk in the middle making it an uncomfortable nights sleep. The car parking, location, kitchenette area and views were all good, the power went out whilst we were there and the owner was quick to sort this issue and update us accordingly however these 3 problems have left us feeling disappointed as the property itself is very clean and done to a good standard, as previously mentioned it has the potential to be a very good stay however I have left today feeling very dissatisfied.

When we pulled up to the site, there was an obvious odour which remained the whole time we were there.. and there was also a strong odour from the chalet. There wasn't anything in the chalet (like info guide etc) to offer any 'things to do' close by, and as there wasn't any WiFi we was able to look at what was available. The pub that was advertised wasn't open. Don't feel that this property was at all like advertised. Very very disappointed.
