One wifi is for the pub which is free to join with no password but in the cabin there is a wifi with a password. The password provided is incorrect - i spoke with reception and they didn't know it and also contacted the contact in the book and he was very unhelpful and then didn't reply for the remainder of the weekend. The cabin itself is good but small, has a small air fryer for any cooking and a good enough bathroom. Hot tub was lovely which is private enough after youve walked through the corridor. The pub on site was nice enough

Photos on website misleading. Looked like the patio was bigger and not separate from chalet... had to go across a little kind of alleyway which wasn't private from the other chalets. Was only a bed and a small chair, would've been nice to have a small sofa maybe..... In handbook it said ask for more towels .... no place to really put them to dry off from using hot tub....would have been an inconvenience to the staff keep on asking as we got through a few of our own being in the hot tub alot. Had to shower before and after using the hot tub. With it being self catering it would benefit from more than just the tiny air fryer and the microwave in the cupboard. The bar was only open on our second night. Closest chip shop (which was great) was 5 miles drive away. Was unable to connect to the Wifi as the password kept coming up invalid. Would have contacted the owner but was stated in handbook only contact between 9pm and 9.30am .... with only being there 2 nights was not really worth it. Had a nice stay all in all, only booked as was on offer....it would have been very disappointing if had paid full price. Maybe been spoilt in other places we have stayed in.

Myself and my partner stayed Tuesday to Thursday, the site was very quiet which suited us. The chalet had everything we needed, kettle, toaster, air fryer, mini fridge. Lovely modern furniture and was very clean. I read reviews before going so took my own hairdryer and extra towels. We had a drive into Malton which is around 20 minutes away first night, able to pick up any extra bits required for stay. We also spent a full day at Scarborough which was around 25 minutes away. No shops within walking distance that we found however, this suited us as we went prepared for this. Lovely pub open on weekends however, we did not visit due to mid week stay. Double bed, very soft and slightly noisy when turning over but absolutely fine for a short stay. Hot tub was perfect, garden is opposite chalet, very private with tall fence. Hot tub clean and maintained daily.

There was only 2 bath towels n one hand towel. No hairdryer. The bed was soft, springy and like sleeping on a trampoline. Hot tub was excellent. 5 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was excellent value for money and the chalet was very clean and tidy upon arrival and the hot tub was all ready when we got there. There are lots of leaflets and a booklet of things to do in the local area, which is a great touch! I'd highly recommend trying The Foxhound Inn, which is 10 mins away and dog friendly! The site has a little play park for the little ones and the room was more than big enough for 2 adults, a 2 y/o and a dog. Also to mention, there is a air fryer, which was a great unexpected addition to the chalet. The owner was also incredible when we realised we left something there. • "Very different feel to all other places visited through Sykes."

Didn’t feel like we had privacy - walls were paper thin. We could hear the neighbours and the cleaners in the morning. No welcome pack or gift which is very unusual for Sykes properties. This is what demonstrates that the owner cares and is passionate about what they do. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. The only interaction we had from staff was being told to put our dog on the lead. Feels like they’ve been chucked up to make a pretty penny with no real thought and love gone into it. We often revisit properties booked via Sykes but this won’t be one. The positives were that it was very clean and smelled nice upon arrival and was reasonably priced although I have paid similar and got much better value for money.

Thank you for your feedback. We provide complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits etc which has always been welcomed without the expectation of gifts! Following your comments we do very much care about the guests and pride ourselves on the accommodation provided with the chalets being redecorated & furnisher updated regularly. The staff are very approachable and I'm sure would only be reminding you of park rules for both your own safety, the safety of your pets and other park users. Property Owner

  • "After some initial confusion as to whether or not the booking was pet friendly, we were excited about our booking."

On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was bright and clean with everything needed for our short stay. The lack of a bar/ restaurant close enough to the site restricted our choice of evening activity due to the need to drive but we nonetheless managed to entertain ourselves, largely thanks to the hottub which was very pleasant. Somewhere to hang towels/ robes in the hot tub area and the provision of somewhere to place drinks while in the tub are our only suggestions for improvement. Unfortunately on our final evening the occupants of one of the neighbouring chalets caused significant disturbance, disrupting the sleep other visitors and ourselves. The shouting and banging resulting from the drunken behaviour carried easily and very loudly through the chalets which was obviously not ideal. At 3 o clock in the morning we also weren't sure how to report the issue which at times sounded particularly nasty and carried on for some time. Overall, we had a lovely stay with the Snooty fox with the only issues being outside of their control and we would therefore definitely recommend.

  • "Overall, the stay was great and the location was really good (easy to find) and useful to go to places such as Scarborough and Filey (we timed it well for a food festival)."

Others advised they got slippers, robes and towels, however we only had towels. Other than that, the room had everything that we could have asked for. One thing missing from the Sykes Cottages website is that there is an air fryer if you wish to take good for that. The only downside for us was the fact that the beds springs seemed to be broken on onside in the middle meaning it wasn't the best nights sleep that we could have had. The enclosed hot tub was nice meaning we didn't have anyone else using the hot tub with us. We also decided to get a takeaway from The East Takeaway. It came early and was sublime. Would recommend if you don't want to cook. We brought our dog with us and went for a lovely walk each evening under the stars. Couldn't fault it. She loved it also. Myself and my partner would definitely recommend this site.

Thank you for your feedback. From reading your notes we do aim to provide all guests with robes, apologises that this was not the case on your visit. The mattresses do get changed regularly and have now been replaced. We are pleased you've all enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

With a microwave, toaster, kettle and air fryer it had everything we needed for a few days away. The fridge was small, but adequate for what we'd taken. The hot tub and patio area were nice and private. The only downside was the bad was a bit hard, but then that's down to personal preferences. The other downside is there's not much nearby. However, we can highly recommend The East Takeaway in Sherburn. Even better is they're on Just Eat and deliver. Food is really nice and plentiful. Scarborough and Filey are both only 30 minutes away, while Whitby took about an hour. And with York only an hour away too, we're glad we picked Chalet 5 for our trip to this part of the country.

1 - the hot tub, the private patio area itself is very nice and private, however the tub needed a very good clean, after opening the cover on the first evening we noticed the water was already very cloudy, to the point you could not see your hands, we also found a bottle top on the bottom of the tub which was not from us, when the jets are on the tub fills up with bubbles to the point they was almost overflowing within minutes, and lastly the smell, we cut our tub time short because after using the tub the second time we noticed a nasty odour coming from the tub. 2 - the towels, we was only given 3 towels in total, 1 being a hand towel, 1 medium sized and then 1 large bath towel. The hand towel had to be used as a bath mat due to the fact the floor was in the bathroom slippery and no mat was provided. This also meant we had 1 towel per person for both the tub and the shower which was not very hygienic. 3 - the bed, the sheets were fresh and clean however the mattress seemed poor quality meaning it sunk in the middle making it an uncomfortable nights sleep. The car parking, location, kitchenette area and views were all good, the power went out whilst we were there and the owner was quick to sort this issue and update us accordingly however these 3 problems have left us feeling disappointed as the property itself is very clean and done to a good standard, as previously mentioned it has the potential to be a very good stay however I have left today feeling very dissatisfied.
