Hawthorn Cottage

The accommodation was just as listed, sofa and bed were comfy, kitchen had everything we needed (apart from kitchen roll which we had brought with us luckily).

Also when we washed up before leaving, we couldn’t find a cloth or sponge to use. Hot tub was great, enclosed so no one could see in if they went past. Lovely views and sheep and horses in the fields opposite. Owner was friendly when we arrived, altogether we weren’t sure where to go and parked outside another cottage at first. A sign could maybe be added somewhere maybe, as the owner said that this had happened before? The track leading to the cottage is very rough, as others have said before, so drive very slowly! All in all, a nice cottage with lovely surroundings and views!

The facilities were great and everything we needed. The surrounding was beautiful, hosts were friendly and the hot tub was the cherry on top, we absolutely loved it! Great parking and ideally located within everything you could need or want to go. Could not recommend enough!!

It is a beautiful cottage and has been renovated beautifully. We loved the location which made it easy to visit surrounding towns. We also loved the fact that the cottage is on a working farm. Oh and how could we forget the four beautiful dogs who are the most friendly dogs we have met. Loved the whole visit. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a great holiday.

Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful setting.

Had a lovely relaxing stay very clean and well equipped. In a good location for exploring and visiting the coast. Just a note it would be useful to be made aware of the access road to the property. We did have a 4x4 but would have struggled if used our other vehicle.

This cottage ticks all the right boxes, Very peaceful location all be it on a working farm, walking and cycling tracks in every direction in a very quiet area of North Yorkshire.

All within stones throw of Dalby,Scarborough and Whitby. A lovely Hot Tub to come back to every day which is very welcoming after a long walk or bike ride!.A good size bathroom and really comfortable bed meant after all the fresh air we slept like logs. Our third visit to the cottages and wont be our last, still more of the local area to explore.

The cottage was absolutely gorgeous with stunning views.

The hot tub was up and running on arrival ready to be enjoyed. Everywhere was clean and tidy and well equipped. The owners who live in the adjoining property were super friendly and their dogs and farm dogs were so well behaved and friendly. Would absolutely love to stay here again in the future! We had the most perfect relaxing honeymoon. Massive thank you to the owners for sharing such a beautiful space.

Compact and cosy.

A great base for exploring the north Yorkshire coast. Lovely neighbours too.

What an amazing place we live in the city so to be able to get up in the morning to the sound of sheep was just amazing and the views from the cottage was amazing we arrived at the cottage and was very surprised to see that an fresh pint of milk was already in the fridge and the hot tube was just the finished touch

We had a lovely stay at Hawthorne Cottage this week, fantastic facilities and any questions were answered straight away, hot tub and cottage are maintained and loved the area an animals.

We enjoyed our stay here, it was a beautiful little place.

Very peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was undercover and inside which was great. The cottage was very comfortable and I loved that all the beautiful beams were exposed. There were a couple of niggles, the shower had mould patches around the base and we noticed a few cobwebs webs dotted about and there was no useable bowl for the microwave. Easily fixed issues though. We really liked it here and had a very relaxing time.

What a wonderful stay!

The cottage is gorgeous and so cosy! Everything was very clean and some lovely homely touches too. The hot tub is fantastic and we took full advantage of this! The bed and sofa were lovely and comfy, the towels were so fluffy and soft, the shower was lovely and hot, everything was great and the views from the cottage were beautiful! Great location, very easy to get to Scarborough and we also explored Dalby Forest. Fantastic stay and we will definitely be back!

The cottage was a wonderful little paradise situated on a working farm with the loveliest working dogs and an abundance of wildlife The owners are so friendly and accommodating if contacted The drive leading to the cottage is a farmers working hardcore drive which is uneven however we drive a little ds3 and managed with no issues We drove a 140 miles to reach this place and will go back the peace and views have such a sense of relaxation we can only thank the owners for opening up their property for others to share

We went for 5 days and 4 nights if was so peaceful and quiet.

Everything was very clean and tidy and a nice distance away from everything would definitely book again.

Overall had a great time but the road in is extremely rough and not suitable for low cars, cottage has a dishwasher but seeing as its only a 2 person cottage its not really necessary but a washing machine would have been better as we were there for 7 nights.

Lovely little cottage.

Very clean and comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchen for making meals. It is a working farm so can be quite noisy early in a morning, but that being said we didn't need an alarm for beach days (we went during August 25 heatwave so had glorious weather) and I was up early enough to read a book at the outside table in the sunshine with a brew before my daughter woke up, so the noise wasn't an issue for us. The view was stunning! We took advantage of the private hottub which was well maintained by the owners and was huge! A morning dip, or a dip in the evening after a long day at the beach with the jets on was fabulous! We also enjoyed a stunning evening meal and a couple if cocktails at a pub called The Plough, which is only 8mins in the car away from the cottage. We would definitely return!

The cottage was good but it was on a working farm and you had people living there and renting other cottage the smell the noice was not great i thought i was getting a cottage on its own private if I new it was a working farm i would have chosen else where

Hot tub lovely with a great view. Very good local pubs to eat out. The only issue we had was the shower temperature was either very cold or very hot was hot and miss.

Sheep and lambs roaming in the fields. Friendly farm dogs and hosts. Property of a high standard, modern mixed with old wooden beams. Very clean and 5* comfortable bed. Slept better here than at home. Loved the hot tub which was a big factor when I booked the property. Would definitely stay again.

Very comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage on a working farm, super quiet and peaceful and a good nights sleep on a really comfortable bed, lots of walking and cycling to be had from the doorstep with the added bonus of returning to a private hot tub to recover from the days activities!

Scarborough and the coast is only a few minutes drive away!

I have really enjoyed the stay the only thing I’d say is the shower seems to switch from freezing cold to boiling hot

Beautifully located on a working farm surrounded by lush Yorkshire countryside.

The cottage was spotless and equipped with everything we needed for a week away. It’s not often I return to a place once I’ve visited, but will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Excellent property for a short break.

Great location for us, well away from the crowds with only the countryside animals for company but close enough for a quick drive to great food pubs and the beach at Scarborough North bay. Didn’t use to hot tub as felt a little closed in, would have possibly been better with bifold doors on to open up fully but looked clean and hot. - great stay and will consider again.

Wonderful location for exploring the coastline and bonus coming home to a hot tub every day - would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful couple of nights away.

Went to the Cottage march 2025 for a long weekend lovely small cottage kitchen down stairs and bedroom living room an bath room all together up stairs looked nice and clean kitchen was good practically every thing you want shower had all mould in side round the base toilet seat was stained yellow needs a new one and big cobwebs from ceiling up stairs hot tub was secluded but after day 2 we were itching our skin of kept showering but didn't bother going in again my costume got bleech marks on it husband checked the flooting capsule it had 4 tablets in it to many chemicals

The neighbours on the farm were very friendly. The location was amazing. We had lots of lovely walks with Charlie and then back to the cottage to chill out in the hot tub! It was a perfect few days. Thank you!

The cottage, was faultless- extremely clean and very inviting.

We had a fabulous stay, the location was perfect out the way, but near enough to Scarborough and surrounding villages. The cottage, had everything that we needed:- kitchen cleaning equipment, pots and pans, plenty of cups and glasses. There was an information pack, that provided information regarding the cottage and things to do.. The bed was extremely comfy and had a 3 brilliant nights sleep. The hot tub, was the icing on the cake. It was hidden in the little barn at the front of the cottage, the views were breathtaking. Would definitely recommend, and visit again.

It was our honeymoon and stayed for 4 nights. The cottage was so comfy and it's location idyllic. We will be visiting again for our anniversary next year. Highly recommended.

A lovely stay with very friendly people from track quite poor but axeable

Owners so friendly, we enjoyed a quiet stay.

Even left us milk and biscuits to have a cuppa. (Thank you). Jacuzzi lovely, the only thing would have helped would be somewhere to put our clothes and towels on, apart from coat hooks and maybe a couple of plastic chairs to sit to get dressed. Would book again

Perfect cottage on a picturesque farm.

Property is beautifully put together for everything you could possibly need for a get away. Amazing views across the fields perfectly positioned if you are looking to escape to the quiet of the countryside. We commuted to Whitby, Robin hoods bay, Scarborough and Filey just to name a few. So is ideal for anyone looking to beach hop. Being able to come home and relax in the hot tub after a long day of exploring just adds to the enjoyment of this beautiful holiday home.

The cottage is perfect for a couple of nights stay. Picturesque views from the windows, our dog loved watching the sheep - we even caught a glimpse into farm life when the farmers were moving the sheep. Hot tub was fab, we loved the little fairy lights inside and the window out to the fields. Something that the pictures are missing… (maybe they were taken before these improvements were made) - 1) the patio is now fenced off, which meant we could have the door open and our dog could be in and out as she pleased. 2) there is also a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs which meant our dog could be downstairs after a muddy walk and we didn’t have to worry about her bringing any muck upstairs. Just brilliant all round, would definitely recommend.

Glorious accommodation.

Would highly recommend staying at Hawthorn Cottage. It’s cosy, well maintained and in an area where you can’t help but relax, a few dips in the hot tub also helped. We looked forward to our evenings here after days exploring the area, could’ve happily stayed longer. Would definitely recommend

The cottage was amazing, so comfortable and cosy.

The location was breathtaking. To finish it off, the hot tub was an absolute pleasure day and night.

I booked this property quite last minute and it did not disappoint.

From pulling up to Hawthorn cottage, myself and my granddaughter were made to feel at home and were even allowed into the cottage early as it had been cleaned. The cottage was spotless, well equipped and extremely comfy. I booked an indoor hot tub as the weather had been dreadfull prior to arriving and typically we had lovely weather during our stay. We stayed for 2 nights but wished we had booked for longer, would highly recommend!

To make the directions clearer The postcode provided took us to the village silpho We would not have found it if the lady at Folly Gill cottage’s hadn’t gave us directions Also the sign sits back from the road almost in the hedge it would help if it was more visible Everything about the property was perfect

Simply the best place we have stayed so far.

Spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable bed and sofa, plenty of utensils, the water pressure was also nice and strong which is always great. Was nice and quiet, could hear the sheep every now and then but it was nice to hear them! Property owners were friendly but also kept their distance which was nice. The property’s drive was quite bumpy but didn’t cause any issues for us. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to use the hot tub (it looked great) as we were busy exploring the near towns such as Whitby - Absolutely stunning, had a great time crabbing. We both highly recommend this place, was a lovely couple’s retreat. Thank you!

Wow!

We have just arrived home from a long weekend at hawthorn cottage and I can honestly say this was one of the best weekends I’ve had! Absolutely beautiful cottage, the location is amazing! The cottage is based on a farm with the view of sheep opposite! My little puppy loved watching them and even tried to go join them…. Thankfully the owner Chris managed to catch her which we are so grateful for! We have visited a variety of lodges/ cottages in the last few years and we often find they’re out the way and we don’t have much to do, but not this place! 15 min drive from Scarborough seafront which was amazing, so much to do around, we also visited a filey farm and Whitby! We are already looking to go again, just perfect! The cottage was actually a lot more spacious than I anticipated too, which was a bonus. The hot tub was lovely and it even has a little window you can open to see the beautiful view whilst relaxing. We really thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and I can’t wait to visit again! What a weekend :)

Lovely house and a great base close by to places such as whitby and scarborough.

The house is fully equipped and perfect for a relaxing week. The hot tub area did have quite an odour but that could be due to it being next to where the sheep stay on a night, I developed a rash from the hot tub which meant that I could not utilise it for my last two days.

Beautiful, quiet, spotlessly clean.

Comfy bed, hot shower, everything you need, and the hot tub....just WOW. There are noisy sheep cos you're on a farm, so you won't get a lay in, and the track to get to the property is long and full of potholes, so a heads up might've been nice as we turned up in our Mazda MX5, but cannot fault the cottage at all. Had a lovely stay.

Will definitely be recommending to friends and family and will also be returning. So pretty and quiet, we even saw lambs being born outside our front door, such a wonderful experience. Cannot recommend enough

The friendliness of the proprietors, the superb quality of accommodation and tranquil rural location went beyond our expectations. It was a perfect base to explore wonderful places such as Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey etc. Topping things off, was a 10 minute drive or so to wonderful pubs serving wonderful food such as the 3 Jolly Sailors. Thank you for such a relaxing break. We look forward to a return visit
