  • "What a place!"

A definite home from home and I could not have loved it more. It's so well thought out and everything you could need is provided. Very comfortable and the wood burner was a luxury. Gill was unbelievably welcoming and very happy to offer any assistance as and when it was needed. I had the best few weeks there and was sad to leave.

  • "Lovely, well equipped cottage in a peaceful village with a good pub for eating out."

The location is great for visiting the local area including the coast, Beverley and York. The North Cave wetlands which are a 20 minute walk from the cottage are well worth a visit. We would happily go back in the future.

  • "Gill our host was so friendly and took us a guided tour of the immediate area."

Hotham is the most peaceful village you could wish for and Yew Tree Cottage provided the perfect place for our stay. An hour or so to most places of interest, it is perfectly placed for visiting the beautiful countryside and there are walks long and short on your doorstep. Would thoroughly recommend to anybody looking to kick back and escape for a while.

  • "Lovely cottage as per photo's in a lovely very well kept village, local pub a few minutes walk away with friendly staff."

Plenty of walks short or long around the village or local area. Good base for days out in the car, 30 minutes from the coast or York. Gill the owner lives next door very friendly and helpful on places to visit but not intrusive. If we are ever in that part of the country again I know where we will be staying. Thanks Gill.

  • "Had a lovely week in Yew Tree Cottage."

The accommodation was very comfortable with stylish décor, very clean, a comfortable bed, large shower, fast wifi, sunny patio area outside the front door, and easy parking. The owner, Gill, lives in the main house and is very helpful and friendly. Hotham is a delightful village with lots of good local walks either from the doorstep ( OS 1:25000 maps provided ) or some lovely wolds within a short drive. Nearby Beverley is well worth a visit, especially for the Saturday market, and the old town and quay area of Hull was surprisingly enjoyable (sorry, Hull, shouldn't have pre-judged! ). Would be good to return when the pubs are fully open again – we didn't visit the Hotham Arms as the evenings were a bit chilly for al fresco eating. Only small point to note is that the Sykes description says there is a fridge/freezer, but actually there is only a larder fridge.

  • "This was a very comfortable cottage, perfect for two and located in a pretty village."

Plenty of wood was provided for the wood burner and Gill was really helpful when we couldn't operate the induction hob (we were the problem!). This would be perfect for anyone with mobility problems as there is a small step up to the bedroom and another small step into the bathroom. We visited the village pub and enjoyed Sunday dinner there. The staff were very friendly..

  • "We were very pleased with Yew Tree Cottage."

This is our first time of staying in a cottage and we weren't disappointed, we were pleased with the condition which was very clean and welcoming. The owner Gill lived next door and popped round to see us during our week's stay to check everything was to our satisfaction. We were pleased to say it was. We did mention that a coffee table and a tray would be useful and within a few minutes Gill popped back with both items. Very impressed. We would definitely recommend this cottage which is situated in a lovely quiet village. There are places of interest that we enjoyed visiting, such as the walks, particularly in the local park which took you through to North Cave, a local Farm Shop and restaurant called Drewtons, a Nature Reserve called "Wetlands" and we also liked touring around the local villages. The local pub called the Hotham Arms is well worth a visit and is in within walking distance. We also enjoyed the Dog and Duck in nearby Walkington, another lovely village. All in all, a very relaxing time. We shall return in the future.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay and we will be back!"

The whole cottage was clean and more than accommodating... from food bags to washing tablets to use the washing machine; saved me the dreaded job returning home! The only thing which we will be changing next time is the pillows, both pillows were soft and we struggled sleeping with them - but each to their own. Thanks so much for a great stay and to Gill for being so accommodating and polite! Stay safe. Jess and Mike.
