"This is a very spacious, well appointed house with modern interiors."
There has been great attention to detail and the house is immaculately clean .
The house is only a couple of minutes from the dog friendly and beautiful beach of Runswick bay.
Whitby, Saltburn, Goathland and Pickering are all within easy reach. The off road parking space at the back of the property is very handy.

"We enjoyed a short break with our dog and elderly in-laws and really could’ve done with staying longer!"
The house is very clean and comfortable, there’s a pleasant patio garden and is obviously popular judging by the number of return visitors. It’s well situated for visiting the coast around Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea, there’s a Co-op mini market just a few minutes drive away, pubs serving food in the village and a very good hotel menu in nearby Ellerby. Sadly the Chippy was closed, hopefully not permanently! The designated parking area does require a bit of maneuvering and large cars might well find this difficult but there did seem to be on street parking nearby. We were sorry we couldn’t stay longer and really appreciated being able to ‘shunt’ our days so we avoided Storm Amy, thank you!

"The Old Police House is wonderful, spacious comfortable, warm when you want it to be and cool in the summer with great outside space to relax after a busy day walking to Runswick bay or Staithes."
On a main bus route to Whitby and beyond. Many lovely places to eat or a fully equipped kitchen to eat at home. We think it is a perfect place to stay and we will be back!

"Absolutely fabulous accommodation in a lovely little village with a butchers and grocery store, two excellent dog friendly pubs serving delicious food and a tea room which is in in the community hall where everyone is so friendly and wanting to give you advice."
The accommodation itself is superb. Everything is such good quality from the bedding on such comfortable beds to matching crockery, cutlery and everything you need to have a great time including info on where to go. The garden is lovely, a real sun trap and well enclosed for pets. If you have a dog there are some lovely fields nearby to give your dog a good run. Obviously you are asked not to leave your dog in the house unattended and try to keep them off the furniture but throws have been provided if your dog insists on sitting on a chair. We had two small cars which we had no problem parking. There is lots of room for the cars but it is probably the navigating down the narrow lane to turn into the parking area which could be a problem for a large car, there are double yellow lines directly outside the property but 10 yards further down has street parking. If I had one quip it would be the poor quality toilet paper compared to the excellent quality of everything else. Would not hesitate to recommend this property, probably the best I have stayed in.

"The Old Police House was an amazing property, well equipped, immaculately clean and very comfortable and homely."
It is beautifully
decorated with some lovely canvases of the local area. It is a well situated property to visit Whitby, Staithes, Robin hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and the North Yorkshire Railway.
The 2 pubs in Hinderwell offer a very good and varied selection of food, particularly the Brown Cow who make a delicious Lamb Rogan Josh.
My only criticism would be the designated parking at the property is difficult to navigate if you have a large vehicle but parking in front of the property was not an issue. A superb property.

"This is a lovely well equipped property and I would happily return."
On arrival there was a packet of biscuits and tea and coffee so after a long drive you felt welcomed and able to relax.
The kitchen and living areas are extremely well equipped with lots of homely touches to remind you of the area and the history of the building.
The beds were really comfortable and so we had a good night's sleep.
The property information listed a number of roles for the pet, these could impact someone's stay and should be disclosed prior to booking.
Parking at the back is large enough for two vehicles, however if these were large vehicles then the turning opportunities would be difficult, this could be helped by removing 2 foot of wall that sticks out.
The only disappointment was the downstairs toilet / shower room, this has a clear glass window looking into the main street which means there is no privacy and this room is totally unsuitable for a shower, this is easy to fix with a frosted window / shutter/ blind etc. This means there is effectively one bathroom on the property which could be very inconvenient at higher occupancy.
The two pubs in the village are really friendly with good food and this is a great base to see places like Whitby and Saltburn-By-The-Sea.

"What a fantastic holiday let this is."
Would highly recommend. Spacious, cosy and warm, clean and very well equipped. Great for the dog too. Enclosed garden. Also, off road parking area. We had no problem fitting 2 medium sized cars in there. On bus route to Whitby etc, if you don't want to drive. Brilliant location for exploring. Two nice dog friendly pubs 5 mins walk. Extremely comfy sofas and beds. Amazing power shower.
We'll definitely be booking again.
Thanks.
Thank you for your very kind comments. I do my best to please! Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I will be delighted to welcome you back another time. Maureen.

"Well what an amazing property this is, on arrival every room we went in just kept giving more and more."
This was definitely a 10 out of 10 home from home.
Within 2 minutes walk to the bus stops, and just a 5 minute walk to the two local pubs, The brown cow and The Badger hounds both very welcoming and serving excellent food.
Would highly recommend The Old Police House and we will definitely be returning.

"Lovely well equipped accommodation which was spotlessly clean and well presented."
It is very spacious and ideally located to explore the surrounding coast line.
Our only concern was the car parking arrangements which involve negotiating a narrow lane to the car parking space. It is fine for small vehicles but proved to be problematic for our largish car.
Aside from this it's a lovely place to stay

"An immaculate and spacious house ideally situated for visiting the many bays and seaside towns."
There is a friendly pub specialising in local seafood within walking distance and there is a regular bus service which means no parking problems at Whitby ! The parking is a bit tight but we managed 2 cars without a problem.
All in all a lovely property well placed for enjoying the coast and moors.

"The Police House was very comfortable with all the facilities you’d hope for on holiday."
Great to have a bath and separate shower, which was massive. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was plenty of information regarding the property and local facilities. Loved the white bedding and towels, and hard floors downstairs are always preferable for dogs. The garden was comfortable and secure, only lacking a little grass for dog toileting. The parking was off-road and a little tricky to find at first. We found parking our large car in the space a bit tight but a smaller car would have no trouble. It was a great location for exploring the local area with Runswick Bay only a mile away.

"This is an excellent dog (and human) friendly property!"
We found this at short notice and reduced price on the Sykes website - search filters narrowed down selection easily. With just two adults plus small dog the Old Police House had plenty of room inside and out. A large main bathroom with super shower and plenty of towel rail space, very clean and spacious. Living room area again generous and dining area with expanding table and space for six. Small conservatory area with doors to dog secure garden also a pleasant space to relax. Kitchen area nicely finished and plenty of crockery/cutlery, all white goods appeared very new and clean, dishwasher particularly welcome. Heating was very efficient, easy to control, plenty of hot water too! Upstairs in separate area off landing, washing machine and dryer also very new and clean. After reading the description and reviews for parking I was a little sceptical about how this would work out but needn’t have worried - plenty of space for two cars in what was a very quiet and safe area off the lane behind property. Good chippy and Butcher nearby on main road towards Staithes and a very well stocked CoOp mini store further on. Local beaches all good and dog friendly, Hinderwell is very well placed for trips out especially if you are English Heritage members! This property would definitely be on our list to return with extra family members if we can get in again!

"A very clean, well equipped holiday let."
Comfy beds, huge bathroom upstairs. Good location for getting to Runswick Bay, Saltburn and Sandsend/Whitby. The only thing missing is a view of the sea and it would be perfect. The parking at the rear is tight for two cars but the owner of the garage opposite allowed us to park on his premises. Excellent butchers and chippy, plus two pubs in the village all within walking distance. The conservatory and patio are sun traps, ideal for relaxing with a drink or two .. plus it is enclosed so the dog couldn’t escape. Would definitely return.

"We loved staying at the Old Police House."
It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. Superb kitchen and so well equipped. The owners provided really comprehensive information for the property and about the local area, and the welcome snacks were a lovely, friendly and welcoming touch. It is a great location for exploring the area and there are good walks nearby, which our dog really appreciated! We just think a small patch of grass in the garden would be a pleasant ambience and helpful for those bringing their dogs.

Suits our family set up perfectly. Love Hinderwell and surrounding area. The house and garden feels like 'home' We couldn't work out how to switch on the power to the washer so did a hand wash instead no big deal.
Hello Alison, thank you for your kind words about our property and location.
We have sorted out the problem with the washing machine which is in working order again.
We hope you will come again.
