  • "We recently spent a week at this delightful little cottage with our two dogs."

We found the accommodation very comfortable and extremely well equipped with everything needed to make a pleasant stay. I was really thankful for the anti slip mat in the bath, something that's not even provided in 5 star hotels. The views from the front across the vale onto the hills beyond are lovely on a clear day but sadly the weather wasn't always in our favour. The little enclosed garden was very handy to let the dogs into. We would like to thank the owners for the welcome pack of bread, eggs, milk etc. The only downfall of the holiday was that we didn't get to meet the lady owner but hopefully we will next time we book, as we would like to return again one day.

Thank you so much for your review. Was very nice to meet you and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Sorry you did not manage to meet my wife as she was extremely busy that week looking after the animals we have. Glad you enjoyed your stay look forward to seeing you again in the future. • "The velux windows need blinds otherwise the living room can get very hot and light for sleeping in summer months when using the bed settee."

Chairs and settee not very comfortable and outside furniture very poor. Friendly, helpful and welcoming owners.

Thank you so much for your review. We do understand that the velux windows do need blinds we are in the process of having them made it was a hot week the week you stayed with us and as it is our first year in renting the property out we are still learning and making adjustments to the reviews that have been left. We did have a new sofa/bed and chair delivered unfortunately it was on your last day with us. We are acting accordingly to reviews being left but some do take more time than others to be completed. • "The cottage was nice and clean."

My sole purpose of renting this cottage was because it was advertised as an enclosed garden, which would have been ideal for my pet dog, unfortunately as soon as we got there it was obvious that the enclosed garden is not actually attached to the house, so you could not have the door open to let the dog out, without him going around the building onto the main road. Also when sitting in the enclosed garden the dogs from next door were at the small picket fence barking at my dog and trying to get underneath the fence, By the end of the second day, the dog was so stressed, and so was my husband and myself, with the garden situation, that we decided to leave, and go home. I did recommend to the owner that the house needed to be more secure for pets, and that it was a bit of false advertisement in my opinion. Not a lot of privacy here either, very much overlooked.

Thank you for your review. A few points you have raised. There is an enclosed garden but the cottage is not enclosed within the garden this is being rectified ASAP so the whole property is secure for animals/pets, the main gates to the property could of been closed which would of made it secure this would not of been a problem. The small picket fence at the bottom of the small garden has now been filled so dogs cannot see each other and a trellis is being installed this weekend, we don’t want to install a large fence as this would spoil the views. 25% accuracy of listing ? It does state enclosed garden, I will speak to Sykes cottages about this. Cleanliness 100% thank you. Comfort 50% there is a new double bed in the bedroom, we have not had any issues about comfort to date but the existing sofa bed and arm chair are being replaced with new hopefully within the next week or so. Facilities 50% again not had any problems to date as what it stats in the listing is there, we can add to this on request of guests during there stay if needed and possible. Again thank for your review all of the above is being actioned and was in motion before your review. This is our first year of letting out the property and take on board all comments and do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week and would recommend this property to others."

It was clean and comfortable. It was a cold week when we were on holiday(actually snowed on the Thursday) and the cottage did feel a bit chilly when we arrived. We did turn up the electric heaters and lit the wood burner but didn't really have enough wood to keep it going, definitely buy some logs if you are wanting to use the log burner(which is what we did). We were warm enough after we did this though, so not a problem, plenty of hot water too. Lots of lovely places to visit in the local area and everyone we met were extremely friendly. We would definitely love to come back.

Thank you so much for your review, this is our first year of letting out this property and will take in all comments and try to improve on these going forward again thank you for looking after the property on your stay. Property Owner
