  • "Outstanding."

Beautifully clean, cosy, warm, attention to detail is second to none. Amazing owners, you feel you've known them all your life. So friendly and helpful. This is the first holiday we really did not want to leave.

  • "Gardener’s Lodge is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay."

It is a fantastic blend of modern comforts with Scandinavian charm. The owners, Chris and Alison are only next door and are very friendly and helpful if anything is needed. As an additional bonus, there is a simple to use Electric Vehicle charging point at the lodge which made us taking our EV simple and stress free. Definitely coming back.

  • "Wonderful holiday lodge with all the comforts you would expect."

In a very attractive rural setting within the owners extensive garden grounds, this property was furnished to a high standard. We enjoyed a great week’s holiday, cycled 6 days out of 7 and had a day trip to Scarborough as well. We would highly recommend Gardener’s Lodge and would like to thank Chris & Alison for their friendly hospitality.

  • "Gardener's Lodge is an ideal base for visiting north Yorkshire."

We had a lovely welcome from Chris & Alison with the unexpected bonus of some milk and eggs, with the offer of more eggs should we want any - the hens were laying well that week! The lodge itself is comfortable and stylish with all the necessities for a stay. Situated about half way north of York and south of Thirsk. The P&R for York is a few miles down the road and it takes under an hour and half to access the east coastal side. We also visited the Dales, all of which are within comfortable reach of the lodge. I would recommend the lodge to anyone looking to visit Yorkshire. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return. Thank you.

Our girls loved it too and particularly enjoyed collecting eggs from Chris and Alison’s chickens! The lodge was clean, quiet, well equipped and in a great location to explore the many attractions that Yorkshire has to offer. Thanks for having us.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the lodge."

Alison & Chris we're just such terrific hosts, they were so welcoming and thoughtful. The little touches were very appreciated such as a bottle of wine, eggs, marshmallows and skewers for the firepit which they also provided all the wood and tools for. They even took our daughter off to meet their chickens and collect eggs which was a wonderful experience for her. They were also so helpful providing us with information on where to eat and visit. The lodge is set in a beautiful spot, the location is perfect, providing easy access to York, Easingwold and Thirsk. The lodge itself was immaculate and the facilities were excellent, so much thought has been put into ensuring you have everything you need throughout your stay. The style and quality of the decor was also super. We had such a lovely week and will definitely return, thank you Alison & Chris, we hope to see you again x

  • "This is a beautiful place to stay, with all windows showing countryside/garden views."

Furbished to a very high standard - the bed and pillows were the most comfortable I've ever experienced while away from home, and the bath is great to relax in, looking at the trees outside. Chris and Alison are very lovely and helpful, with the wine and milk in the fridge a lovely touch. The picturesque village is just a ten minute walk away. We had amazing meals at both the New Inn Cantonese and the Mended Drum, would very much recommend.

  • "Gardener's Lodge is so beautifully presented whilst also being very comfortable with a homely feel."

It has a lovely feel throughout, most importantly the beds are extremely comfy and so sleeping is made easy from day 1. A lot of lodges can be just ok inside and out but Gardener's Lodge has a very luxurious feel. It is a lovely place to relax and unwind whilst also feeling a part of nature. We have visited twice in the space of 3 months as it is just so lovely, along with Chris & Alison who always give us such a warm welcome. Our 3 year old is now getting used to eggs from their very own chickens. Their lovely gestures really gives that added touch to the stay. Lovely place for both friends to enjoy and small families. It has all you need and more. Be prepared for a lovely time. We hope to be back here again next year. Thanks again. Adele, Emmanuel, Isabelle (3 yrs) & Grace (9mnths)

  • "We had a great time staying at the Gardeners Lodge, Alison and Chris were really friendly and helpful hosts giving recommendations for things to do and places to eat."

The lodge provided exactly what we were looking for a relaxing break away. The beds were extremely comfortable and big enough for the tall people of the group. The open plan kitchen and living area was perfect for cooking meals and socialising with everyone. On the sunny days the outdoor seating area was perfect for eating outside and when the sun went down the fire pit was a great addition to keep us warm and to gaze at the stars.

Set in a great location for us with peace and quiet, but close enough to all the amenities. The family loved the private open spaces outside and the open plan and light and airy lodge. The hosts Chris and Alice were also extremely accommodating, We liked it that much we booked another stay there for later in the year 2 days in!
